Cibo Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
We went here before a concert. The food was lovely, but some of the plates were small for the price. I'm not a big eater, but I still found some of the portion sizes to be very small. The server was very nice and attentive. We will go again if we have a special occasion in the area.
Overall, dining at Cibo was a positive experience. Even though I reserved a table, we were seated in the center and it felt a bit like being in the middle of a thoroughfare. The Orpheum set menu is good value but we both had the roasted chicken and it was quite dry. The rest of the meal was well presented and very tasty. Service was attentive and efficient. They were willing to make a small substitution to accommodate my dietary restrictions which I appreciated. Great location if you're going to anything at the Orpheum as it's right across the street.
The restaurant is lovely, albeit small but my tagliatelle was bland and the noodles themselves were incredibly thin. My wine was ok but they were out of two of the ones I wanted because they were switching the menu over. I understand that this can't be helped but my server could have let me know beforehand instead of when we were trying to place our order. There are a lot of amazing Italian restaurants in Vancouver so I see no point in ever returning to Cibo.
Enjoyed the brunch here. The eggs benedict with pancetta is very good. Wonder where they get their eggs? The egg yolks were a bright orange yellow in colour and so creamy. Another guest at our table had the French toast and raved about it. The pumpkin seeds were a delicious touch. Will have to come back for dinner!
This was a wonderful treat for ourselves. We decided not to cook and dine out at this gem that we visited years ago. What we found was excellent food, stellar wine choices and the absolute best sommelier that we've experienced in years. All of our food choices were delicious and the wine was out of this world- an excellent Barbera. Look for Corey for the best wine choices. We will go back, sit at the bar and ask Corey to decide what we are to drink for the evening. A great dinner choice for foodies and folks who want a classy room with lots of life. Loved it.
I think Cibo is a bit under-rated. It's a great spot for lunch or dinner. They have a great wine and cocktail menu and solid food. The service is always very good. We ordered exclusively food and drink recommended by our waitress and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was quiet and empty, creating a dry ambience despite being very close the the entertainment district. This would be an area of improvement.
When we went there a couple of days ago, there was no guests except us. It was Sunday afternoon. The restaurant offers quiet and relaxing space. Only one lady served dishes at that time. But she was quite affable and nice. We ordered spaghetti carbonara, Egg Benedict and beef steak. Garnished vegetables were good and main menu was also great. The demeanor at the restaurant was very stylish. Although there are not a bunch of options of foods, each dish quality was excellent.
Restaurant was medium busy with 2 on staff, for breakfast, seated right away but 10 minutes to be even offered coffee, another 15 to take our order and then a 20 minutes wait for our bill with 10 more to take and process the credit card even though we had it out at bill presentation.
Showed up for breakfast after having lunch here the day before and it was the same excellent experience. Food was superb and my friend agreed. I had my Caffè macchiato and the flat iron with soft poached eggs and it was done right to order. Very tasty. I'll definitely be back!
Went to Cibo for a Chianti wine dinner. The food was creative, well executed, perfectly Chianti region and delicious. The pairings were also nice, two of which I hadn't had before and the information imparted about the wines during the dinner was great to listen to. The only two items I would note is that the information advertised did not specify that you sit at communal tables as we are not as comfortable with that format and also the event did not specify that the pairings were going to be 3oz pours so one might have thought they were going to be 5oz pairings. They did top up the glasses so it likely did end up being more like 5oz but I wasn't sure if that was due to a foursome that had cancelled so perhaps there was more to go around! Otherwise a delightful evening - my sister and I would definitely go back!
Wonderful Italian cuisine. Innovative and authentic dishes that are quite delicious. Great wine list and knowledgeable servers to help you make the best wine pairing choices. Try their special family style Sunday dinners or one of their wine dinners. Note: reservations strongly advised, especially for the wine dinners which always sell out.
Decent restaurant. My fiance and I had dinner there before catching a show in the Orpheum. Food was good and was served fast. Service was fine except the fact that I had to wait for a waiter to change my dirty wine glass before even our bottle of wine had arrived.
A bit disappointed this time around. My asparagus was under cooked and while my flat iron steak was tender, it lacked flavour. While I'm perfectly capable of pouring my own wine, a restaurant that considers itself high end should have the server pour it for the customer, which ours failed to do. On the positive end, my mashed potatoes were delicious and the tiramisu was the best I've had in a while. The wine recommendation was spot on. My wife and I will give the restaurant another chance as we have enjoyed the experience in the past. Hopefully they'll get it right 100% instead of only 75%.
