Excellent food value. Dinner was delicious. We actually changed our reservation and had dinner there on Tuesday, June 12th.
Our annual family trip to Monterey. It would not be complete without dining at Cibo's. Food and service were spot on.
Four of us went out to dinner. Two meals were wonderful, two were so-so. The appetizer delivered was not as described on the menu. Specifically, the SALUMI E FORMAGGIO was described as "Italian Cured Meats & Artisanal Cheeses, preserved lemon marmalade & House Made Pickles." There were three piles of meat, one small portion of a single cheese, no lemon marmalade and one miniature pickle sitting on a pile of olives. We ordered one dessert to share which the waiter should have told us was far too small to share. The quality overall was good, but not worth the price. The service was a bit overbearing -- one's water does not need to be topped off when it is still 80% full.
We have never eaten at Cibo Restaurant. However, we were in for quite a surprise. The Food was delicious. The service was fabulous, and the ambiance was outstanding. Most of all the owner Rosa Catalans came around and made sure we were comfortable, our food was to our liking, and the most hospitable person we have ever met at a restaurant. We will return and I would highly recommend Cibo to everyone in Monterey looking for an experience of a lifetime.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was wonderful. Both of our dinners were fantastic (I had the Ravioli A Modo Mio & my husband had the Tagliata Di Manzo), we split the Creme Brulee Cheesecake for dessert, and the live music was a great addition to the ambiance. It was our first time in Monterey and this restaurant was a great find!
Our server was amazing! The food was great too.
Wonderful experience!! The staff and the management great! They came to the table and asked about the experience. Waiters very caring and attentive.
Will definitely go back!
We required an early dinner before attending an event at the Monterey Conference Center. Cibo was perfect both in terms of location and dining event. Even the owners came by and checked on how we enjoyed the dinner. The pasta and the fish entrees were great.
Cibo has a great happy hour, followed by a wonderful dinner. We ran into friends from our home town (3000 miles away), and they accommodated our seating increase. The food was great, the staff very friendly, and the jazz trio was perfect for background music.
The restaurant is always pleasant and delicious. We enjoy every stay.
Overall, mediocre to bad food; bad service; annoying music
First time and we will be back! Really enjoyed every aspect of our meals. It was very tasty and presented well.
Great jazz bands and happy hour specials on Thursday night
This restaurant was wonderful. First time and definitely would go back.
A wonderful dining experience. The service was very efficient and helpful. It’s a beautiful restaurant and we really enjoyed the jazz duo. The food was delicious. We had the bruschetta and roasted beet appetizers followed by seafood linguini-yummy. My husband had the roast 1/2chicken and then strawberry gelato. All in all a great evening.
This was our first time at Cibo. We picked this place because of the reviews, plus all other restaurants in the area were booked. Cibo seems larger than the rest of the area restaurants, which explains the availability for a last minute reservation.
The food was good, but I am no sure it is worth the price we paid. Our total bill with tip was $150, that's for 4 people, 2 kids and 2 adults. We had one cup of wine, one cocktail, and juice for the kids, one appetizer, the kids ordered from the kids menu, I had the special of the day (seafood pasta) and my wife had the seafood risotto.
The pasta was a bit bland / watered down for my taste, so I had to add salt to it. My wife's risotto was really good, but it had some purple lettuce that was on the bitter side, a bit overpowering for the risotto seafood flavor profile, it tasted a bit like burnt garlic. The appetizer was BBQ Octopus, that was excellent, well cooked, and great flavor. We were celebrating a birthday, they said that the Tiramisu is usually on the house for bday celebrations, but since we had a gluten requirement, we had to trade it for the only gluten free option in the desert menu... we were charged for the desert, so the birthday desert is only what's on their list.
Overall, this is a nice place, food was good, but I think a bit overpriced. I have spent less money in comparable restaurants with superior food.
It’s was ok.
Attentive helpful service and great food. Accommodated my husband's garlic allergy very concientiously desire also bring packed and busy serving a party of 90 that night.
The friendly family service is worth gold. The mother, Rosa, came to our table and asked us how we were. The host helped me print tickets for the theater. (I received a last minute email from theater informing me they were not going to accept tickets from phone.) It's heart warming to experience a nice meal with a caring family. And very rare these days in metropolitan cities. Thank you Cibo.
Service was slow an not attentive. In at 6 and out at 7:45 with no time for desert. Too loud for table conversation. Salads weren’t fresh. Food was mediocre.
Wanted a quick meal before the Chris Botti show. The waiter knew our time line and placed our order before a large group. Food was great.
We had 8pm reservations on a Saturday night. When we arrived we were seated right away to the only open table. It took about 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. It was busy however a quick “I’ll be right with you” would have been great.
The food was okay. The bbq octopus was flavorless and the calamari was a little over cooked. My rigatoni was good and my husband’s fish pasta special was lacking flavor. The fish was previously frozen and you could tell. It was overpriced.
Just after we received our main dish and our 2nd glass of wine, at 9pm,a DJ started playing and the lights were dimmed for the disco lights. They were shining directly in our eyes.
Within 15 minutes every table was cleared out and our dinner was cut short. The music and change of atmosphere completely ruined our night. The other guests were obviously as disappointed and bothered as we were. Don’t take 8pm reservations if you turn into a night club at 9pm. It is a good looking nice restaurant and we would have never expected.
There are a lot better restaurants in Monterey. I would definitely recommend to look elsewhere.
We make it a point to hit Cibo's at least one night when we're in Monterey. And we've never been disappointed.
Excellent food. First class service. Great atmosphere. Did I meantion the great food? Awsome selection too! Desert is esquisite.
Just writing this is making me want to go there!
It is our understanding that Cibo's remains family owned and that many of the staff are family members. I know that the matriarch of the family, the founder I believe was in one weeknight and stopped by to chat with us and play with our three year old grandaughter. It was a very positive experience!
Was looking forward to this since I had read so many good reviews but have to say the food was mediocre at best. Service was fine and wine prices were reasonable.
excellent and unique Italian food dishes. Lots of choices. Excellent appetizers as well.
Lovely. Good food, good service, walking from hotels.
The sea bass special was amazing. And their evoo for the bread was excellent. They have several wines by the glass. It can get a little loud in the bar during happy hour.
Not impressed food was good not great one meal came out cold
Delicious white bean soup and arugula salad. Would definitely eat there again!
We haven’t dined here in several years, and as you’d expect, the menu had changed. The main courses were excellent, but we were disappointed in the bruschetta appetizer. It was very bland. Service was also excellent and professional.
Excellent restaurant. Food was well portioned and very tasty. Service was attentive. Live jazz music is a great feature. Really enjoyed.
I was in town for a conference. I had pasta with sausage and saffron broth, which was delicious. I made a reservation to return two nights later.
Food was delicious and presentation very nice..Only one suggestion ..I hope they improve the desserts.. year after year that we've gone there we've been disappointed only with their desserts...
Cibo is a a wonderful restaurant and one of our absolute favorites. The food is always fresh and delicious. We can't say enough good things - try it.
We requested a quiet table and was pleased they could accommodate. I had the Veal Chop and I must admit it was spectacular. From the appetizer to the Chocolate Caramel Lava cake I was impressed. I have traveled to Paris, Lyons, All of Italy etc and this meal could stand up against all of them with few exceptions. Thank you for a memorable meal.
Wonderful dinner with excellent jazz trio playing 50-60's standards. Ravioli marvelous, rigatoni Bolognese the best ever! Tiramisu good, lighter on the cocoa powder, please... because we'll be back as soon as possible. Wine list very nice, too.
We went for happy hour for a drink before dinner, which were good and inexpensive. The only curiosity was that happy hour food was not available during the first hour, not until dinner service began. The menu had a nice selection of dishes and especially appetizers. The food was well prepared albeit a little slow coming despite a nearly empty dining room at that hour. The manager and wait staff were attentive and friendly. We would definitely go back.
I’ve been coming here for years and have always had great meals. Very convenient to Monterey Convention Center.
