**Lunch is not served on Sunday.**
Couldn't tell you about food, since we left after 45 minutes with no drinks and bad attitude from the "slammed" waiter who had 2 other tables. Took 20 minutes after being seated to be greeted by anyone and place a drink order. After another 20 minutes with no drinks, asked the waiter and he irritadely said he'd "try to make us a higher priority." Both tables on either side of us were complaining about various issues as well. The manager was apologetic and asked us back for Sunday brunch on him. We might try again but the service left a very bad taste (and hunger) in our mouths on what was a rare date night celebrating our anniversary. Uber Eats to the rescue once again.
We were 5 min early for our reservation. Seated 20 min later to being told our server was busy so we wouldn’t be served for another 5 or 10minutes. After 10minutes , We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Our appetizer came pretty fast and then our drinks. We ate our appetizers without any plates. We ordered our meal and waited an hour for our food to finally come. I watched the outside tables be seated after us who were served bread while waiting for their meals to then quickly getting their meals served. Some of our meals were cold and fries stale. A person in my party was already disappointed they ran out of the prawns that they really wanted and had to order something else that came out stale and cold. It may have been busy when we got there but 2 hours later the dining room was empty. Our server was told our experience was bad. His service and personality was good when he was around. We did get a discount and a dessert BUT wont be dining there again.
We brought our family here for Father’s Day. The restaurant seemed a little run down since the last time we were there. We ordered stuffed mushrooms that were very good. But there were some issues with our actual meal. We had a long wait to get our food and when it came my salmon (which I asked to have medium well) was close to raw. The “Oscar” topping on our steak was nothing but fishy mush! Very expensive add on so frustrating that it was icky. Our waitress was very sweet and professional and took our meals off the bill (at her own expense). We were just very disappointed!
The service was so poor I will never go back
They served the appetizers and had no small plates to eat the appetizers with, ask the server for small plates after 20 mins of waiting for the small plates and asking others for the plates, did not receive any plates. Asked for a manager numerous times, A manager was never sent over to the table. After the server spilled water all over the table by tipping over a glass he was putting on the table. When this happened the server picked up the appetizers that we hadn't finished yet. The manager that came over was completely oblivious of what I was talking about. The food that we ordered when it came out was not cooked properly as ordered.
In conclusion we all decided a party of seven we would never come back to this restaurant. we where all very disappointed of how this was handle by the staff.
Their Sunday brunch is beyond fabulous! Spent a wonderful Father's Day on the deck....great food. Server was awesome....took great care of us. I only wish the hostess had been more personable. She wanted 5 of us to sit at a table designed for 4 and wouldn't budge on that even though there were many empty tables. However, the server worked her 'magic' and all was well.
All the rest of the staff was so incredible.....it made this day for my husband extra special.
Appreciate promptness in seating and not having to wait long.
Reception person was rude and NOT very welcoming. She seemed to resent inquiry as to how long before party would be seated. We arrived prior to our reservation time and was given different information from two individuals.
Great choice for brunch.
Celebrated Daughters High School graduation with family. Made reservations for 10. When we arrived table was ready and restaurant was able to accommodate two extra guests that arrived making it a party of 12. Service was great, view of the water was excellent. We did seem to wait alone time for our food however food came out as ordered and everything was great. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Had the chicken Marsala and it was great...however when I asked for more sauce they said not possible. Re. Dessert, they were out of the 2 best deserts Tiramisu and Mud Pie! This was at the start of the dinner hour about 6 pm on a Saturday night...REALLY? We passed on dessert because nothing else appealed to us..no pies either.
The food at this restaurant was pricey but good quality. The service, however, was absolutely terrible. The moment we walked in the door, the host at the counter saw us but would not look up or acknowledge us until I prompted her. She seemed extremely put out by having to seat us. When I received a text saying our table was ready, she told me it wasn't ready. When I told her about the text, she just said "Oh" and then walked us to an indoor table, even though we had been waiting for an outdoor table. I had to mention for a third time that we wanted to sit outside. Service outside was slow. We all set with empty drinks for about 15 minutes before our waiter offered another round. When our food came, it was brought out with no silverware or napkins. When we asked for them, another server showed up a few minutes later and TOSSED them onto the table without stopping. That was it for me. The tab was over $100. I'll never spend money like that at C.I. Shenanigans again.
Had my sons 18th birthday at this place. Are table was sticky from the previous party.
The carpet underneath the table was filthy, I would be afraid to go into their kitchen.
Food was ok and our server was very nice. Don't think I would eat their again. They should charge these prices if you can't keep your dining room clean.
My husband and I wanted seafood and prime rib . We know that they offer Prime Rib on Friday nights so we made reservations for 6:00pm. When we got there the hostess was on the phone and never looked up at us or acknowledged us until she was done with phone call, which made us feel very unwelcomed.
Then we were seated and the server was a young male that wore sunglasses the entire time of taking our order. He was very also unprofessional. He would be great at Denny's or maybe a fast food restaurant.
We ordered the prime rib and he said they are probably out of prime rib already so we should just order the steak instead. He didn't even check and we got there early enough they should have plenty of Prime Rib left.
When we got the food , 1 hour and 15 minutes later it was very cold. My husband left a note on the receipt for manager to see.
very disappointed for the price we paid.
Ordered the ribeye medium rare. It was rare. Fresh grated horse radish was bland, no kick whatsoever.
Oyster shooters were great, calamari was done right, not over cooked.
Had great service from our server and it made up for the steak being under cooked.
Overall it was a nice place to eat with solid service.
The hostess at the reception desk was very pleasant, I would give her an excellent service rating. The view was spectacular, one of the things I like best about CIS. The AC was blowing directly on us which was not pleasant, but what can you do? Once my entire party arrived, which albeit took them a bit because they were taking pictures as two of them had just graduated, it took a great deal of time for our server to return-take our order-follow up on additional drinks, etc. She was quite pleasant, and perhaps you were understaffed - it looked like she may have been only one of 2 servers; however I can only give her a rating of good. Of course I would return, recommend to a friend, Shenanigan's is a Tacoma icon and has lovely ambiance.
We went for Sunday brunch for my birthday and it was great for all of us, kids included. Beat the house and go for the seafood including the oyster shooters.
Amazing brunch - great choices, dishes were kept full and fresh.
Lobster shop has better food. Descent drinks and desert. Good price for water front view
We had a wonderful dinner, the weather was beautiful and was able to enjoy a fantastic sunset.
Five of us went to Shenanigans after a play. It was a perfect Northwest day and we dined on the patio overlooking the water. The food was good and the service excellent. We'll definitely go back.
Thanks for the great view, great service helpful servers
Overall good experience. Always great food
Tried the Sunday brunch for the first time. Good selection. Crab, shrimp and oysters were fresh and great tasting. Eggs Benedict lacked Hollandaise sauce. Our server was great, the table wasn't ready by the time we were seated and he made up quickly. (salt, pepper, sweetner) Senior discount was a nice surprise. The noise level is a bit much but it's a family place so that's not a surprise
It was my first time at this restaurant. The restaurant is quite nice being on the waterfront and obviously very popular for their Sunday brunch as customers were filling up the place quite fast. Foot traffic around the serving tables got a little heavy but still manageable. Food quality and flavor was a little better than average overall - really nothing worth getting excited over. Though I would say the prime rib was too cooked for my taste. My first look at the carving station wasn't appealing at all; the meat was medium well to well. I waited and went back a short time later only to be just as disappointed. The beed was again overcooked. Perhaps it was my fault for not asking but I shouldn't have to. They should have rare portions as they do medium well/well done. Not everyone likes their meat dry.
Meh. Food was ok but expensive for the quality. Hostess had a bit of an attitude. Didn’t really want to go out of the way to provide great customer service. I expected better. Oh the menus at our table had different prices on them so they should pay better attention to pulling the old ones when prices go up.
Courtney provided excellent service, the view was beautiful and when my guest and I decided to split a salad, they plated it separately for us.
Nice time, good food, wonderful server. Prices a little high, but compared with most of the restaurants on the waterfront. We enjoyed our dinner, and our evening at C.I.'s.
Food was superb. Wait staff the worst we hv experienced in yrs. Everyone bringing something to table asked we what else we needed. Not a single person on wait staff brought anything back we asked for. It took almost 2 hours to get the entree. I asked for lemonade 3 times before it appeared. Asked for crackers for soup....they never did come. Simple simple things. Dont mind paying in excess of $200 for dinner but we expect common courtesy.
What a grand experience! We had excellent food, great service and a "killer" view. A wonderful venue to celebrate graduation from college with the family.
The food was delicious. Scott our server was wonderful. Here for college grad dinner.
Made a reservation but was still seated in a bar booth. Was very loud so hard for conversation. Would have preferred dining room. The add on mushrooms was a total rip off. Not even on my steak and barely a spoon full. Our steak was cooked perfectly and the server was very pleasant. Would try again.
I’ll be honest the food was not great. I have not been there in a while and while the location and service was good the food seemed ill prepared, sloppy, and lacking taste.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at Shenanigans. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant. The food is delicious, wait staff is patient & friendly and the views were wonderful!!
This used to be one of the better places in Tacoma, but now it is a place that lives off its past glory. The food was mediocre (at best). Seems like they used frozen foods for expediency. Other foods, like my steak were under seasoned and while I ordered it medium rare, there was no red or pink in the middle. Overall food quality has dramatically declined.
Service was subpar. Our waiter checked in on us once, but only after 10 minutes after our entrees arrived. He seemed more interested in chit chatting with some tables versus doing his job. Bottom line is the server should find another line of work. He sucked...and I mean that in the nicest way.
Overall this was a truly disappointing experience. I have been to this restaurant probably 25 times in my lifetime. Tonight was my last. There are so many other places to eat. Avoid this place like the plague.
Had a friend in town from Connecticut and we had a great experience. Food was great. We were disappointed that Copper River Salmon wasn’t on the special menu.
Buffett was good, it’s a nice way to spend a Sunday morning with friends. Sadly the service was mediocre, the waitress did not seem to care about us after the initial greeting. On that note, I would go again!
The food took forever to arrive after the order was placed. The steak of my guest was not as wished and my salmon was like show leather. This is the worst experience I have had to date at this restaurant.
Unfortunately there was nothing here (open table) indicating that it was buffet only on that day and my partner and I have both had bariatric surgery. Since we could not order off the menu and we eat a mouses portion between us, we had to leave. Sad because it smelled really good.
We went to this restaurant for dinner on Mother's Day. The only thing that I had an issue with is at OpenTable did not mention that the restaurant was Buffet only because of the special occasion. We could not order off of the regular menu. This wasn't too much of an issue as there are many options in the buffet and the food was good. The buffet was a little more expensive than ordering off of the regular menu. I typically would not spend that much money for my children's dinner, as it was roughly $40 a piece.
We were seated immediately after we arrived. We even got a window seat with the last minute reservation. Our server was friendly and attentive. We will eat there again the future.
Went for Mother's day brunch the only bad thing I have to say is my mom's favorite dish is salmon lox with cream cheese, bagels and capers but they ran out of capers. The waitress was nice to try and scrape together 10 little capers for her. :/ Other than that the food was really good and we sat outside on the beautiful day!
