Chutney's Ratings and Reviews
While I have eaten at this restaurant a number of times and enjoyed it consistently, I am unable to praise it on this visit in any way. The reason for this is that my reservation was accepted in Open Table and confirmed, but when we arrived at the restaurant we found it to be closed for a private party event!
We were offered an anemic apology and nothing in the way of consolation for the fact that we had booked a reservation.
Not sure I will ever go back again.
We wanted a place for the 12 of us for Mother's Day dinner and it needed to be quiet enough for my 84 year old mother to hear. Our host (i believe he's also the owner) could not have been more gracious and welcoming-he made my mother feel like a queen. The rest of the staff was awesome as well and our entire party had a wonderful time. Oh, and the food was also outstanding!
We went during lunch time and it seems to be a popular option for business lunches. The restaurant was pretty full but we were still able to be sat rather quickly. We both chose to do the lunch buffet and it really is a great deal. My friend is vegetarian and she loves the options that were offered. I personally really enjoyed the meatball curry, farmers cheese with bell peppers, and the rice pudding. The tandoori chicken had a great presentation but the meat was awfully dry.
Celebrating birthday and Valentine's Day. Reservation for six people. Chose restaurant due to past experiences at the Queen Anne location. As always the food was excellent. However, the service was subpar. Not enough staff to serve the customers and not enough kitchen staff to prepare the food. Even though it was Valentine's Day, management should have been prepared. Lack of attention to guests beverages was noticeable and I had to go staff person inquiring the whereabouts of one entrée. Really disappointed with the service.
As always, Chutney's was very good. We arrived early and were seated in. The corner window where we could watch people on the street. We each had a coconut curry. One Lamb and the other chicken. Both were very good and enough was leftover for lunch the next day. The nann is usually good, but this trip it was dry and crisp.
Delicious! Every dish we ordered was marvelous with the opportunity to adjust the heat to just the way you like it. Together with fresh naan...mmmmmm! We had vegetable samosas and curried mussels for appetizers; chicken tikka Marsala, seafood biryani, lamb vindaloo, vegetable korma, daal makhani, creamed spinach w cheese for dinner; and finished with rose, vanilla and coconut ice cream. This is my favorite place for Indian cuisine in the PNW! And...the best service too. You can't go wrong here. Enjoy!!!
My husband and I have been coming back about once every two months for 10 years! The quality is consistently wonderful. The owner's mother makes the mulligatawny soup every day. It is so fresh and lively! Everything on the menu is delicious. I always try something new. Try the tandoori halibut, or rack of lamb. The farmer's cheese naan is awesome!
The chicken tikka masala was the best entree, followed by muttar paneer. The lamb vindaloo was disappointing, as the sauce was too diluted for our taste. We had 2 orders of naan (potato and garlic). The entire meal came up to $68 (after an atuomatic 18% service charge and sales tax). It was over-priced for what we had.
Staff were friendly and attentive. Management should re-look at their menu pricing.
Gathered they have a fixed priced lunch buffet. That is a good option to taste their offerings.
Food was pretty good, although way overpriced. Charging for rice is always a negative. Service is slow, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. People who were seated after us were already eating when we were still waiting for our food to come out. Will not be returning.
Food was very good...wish you got a small salad or cup of soup included tho for the price. If you want rice that is extra too. Wine is in the expensive side too so be prepared to spend $100 for dinner for 2 for 2 dinners rice naan bread and wine.
Would try again but maybe for lunch. Excellent service!
I have eaten at Chutney's several times in my 15 years of coming to Seattle. An friend from India took me there the first time with highest recommendations. The atmosphere is great for talking and you are never rushed. The service could be a bit faster but if you come to relax and savor the taste and experience of excellent food from India, then even that fades in the the background and leaves you with an excellent dining experience.
Long time customers. We've always had a stellar 5 star experience. Food... Service... Ambiance... Everything. As soon as you step in, you are family. The owner genuinely greets us every time even though, quite honestly, we aren't frequent enough visitors that it would be expected. He's often found sitting and conversing with patrons throughout the restaurant. He will gladly show you the kitchen and the tandoor oven which makes delicious naan. Our must eat always includes the kabuli chicken.
6 months ago we moved to the Bay Area. Today we had the good fortune to be back in Bellevue for our anniversary. It made sense to come to chutneys as we have yet to find its equal in California.
Chutneys is one of the best kept secrets in Bellevue. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is outstanding and the drinks are top shelf. The owner Bill gives everyone the "Norm!" from Cheers welcome.
I highly recommend Chutneys. Bill is a gift and continues to deliver a wonderful dining experience at a very reasonable price.
Chutney's has been in Bellevue for quite some time. When I lived there it was my go-to for Indian. It was close to my office and lunch there was a regular (buffet style, menu items if you preferred) but did a lot of dinners there as well. I'm hardly an expert but having eaten at my share of Indian restaurants in cities all over the US it is still my favorite, a sentiment shared by friends as well. Moderately priced, attentive staff (but not burdensome) and excellent fare.
My partner and I were on business in Seattle and decided for some Indian food while in Bellevue. Found Chutneys. This is place is so unique and what stood out most of all, was the service and quality of food. The owner himself kept checking on us and seeing that were happy with menu and food. The food was excellent, and the once again, the service was outstanding. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Seattle / Bellevue.
Highest stars and cudos for great service and food.
There are several good Indian restaurants in the Bellevue/Redmond area (Mayuri and Moksha for two) but this isn't one of them.
The place was quiet, only a few other diners, yet still the service was slow and inattentive.
The food was lukewarm and just not very flavorful. One of our party ordered the mango chicken - you had to strain the thin soup like sauce to find the occasional tiny piece of chicken.
I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. This place is just not worth it.
