Drinks more expensive than last week. $50 steak was too pricey. Service was average at best.
Got to the restaurant was seated at the bar with a prior reservation. When we asked to be moved they acomidated us further confusing us on why we were not seated in the dinning room in the first place. We then went to Order and they did not have half the things on their menu. It was the first time I have ever stood up and walked out of a restaurant
We really enjoyed our dinner at church and main. We shared 3 small plates and they were outstanding. Highly recommend the calamari, mussels and crab cake
Usually I am very happy with my experience there but this time was completely different. While the food was good as it normally is, they try to cram as many tables in there as they can and because of this, EVERY SINGLE TIME someone walked by, they hit my chair. It was often and extremely annoying. We ate as fast as possible just to get out of there. I don't think we will be returning for a while, if ever.
Their calamari is the best - light/tender and the chili glaze is awesome. sweet and spicy. We both had the Mai Tai cocktail which was yummy. I don't like many of their cocktail combos - it's just me - anything with egg whites is a complete turn off - and i just prefer simpler combinations.
I had the rib roast entree - all very good - the waitress suggested the spicy chorizo butter on the side, which i did and i never even touched it - the flavors of everything without were so good, it didn't need anything else. My husband had the ravioli special (butternut squash/goat cheese) and that was very good he said.
Love the environment - albeit a little loud at times. Bar area is fun, but a little cramped at times. Friendly staff - dessert was just ok (cheesecake was not that tasty and texture was off - I ordered the scallops (which were great) and linguine (which was replaced with undercooked bow tie noodles). I have been here multiple times in the past with very good results - this last one was just OK.
We were a party of six for my boyfriends Birthday. They had a great large booth for the party which was very comfortable and somewhat private. Wait staff was wonderful, we can be a high matinence group and they handled us well. Specialty drinks were terrific and the oysters Rockefeller were the best I've ever had!
The food was phenomenal, I had the fish of the day and I have never had fish cooked so well! Complements to the chef, but the waiter acted as if we were inconveniencing her.
We celebrated Valentine's Day for our first visit to Church & Main. It was a delicious meal in a very comfortable atmosphere. We will go again!
Excellent food and drinks at church and main. We have come for cocktails before but had never had food. We were missing out big time! I had the salmon special and my boyfriend had some sort of steak dish, I didn't pay attention...I was too busy devouring my own dish. Good portion sizes. We had the wild mushroom appetizer which was also amazing. We will definitely be coming back!
The service by Carson was wonderful. The food was great. It was the perfect spot to have a leisurely dinner for the an 8 o'clock show at the Flynn.
I was all the way in with a 5 star rating! Seriously, I was! The food and service was just great! But for the price I kind of expect hot water and heat in the bathroom.
Waitstaff was friendly. Food was very good. Atmosphere fine. First time and it worked well for a Friday night after long week.
Reliable, delicious meals whether a quick bit, a late night last chance to eat, or a celebratory dinner. Great service (so far).
Another fine dining experience - as produced by the staff at Church & Main: keep up the good work!
We decided on going to celebrate New Years Eve and the only option was to get the planned menu. Wow! What a treat it was each course was delicious. Wine pairing and champagne was excellent. We also got in on a party atmosphere. Our server was fantastic too! Would definitely go back when we visit Burlington again. Great end to 2016 and a greater start to 2017.
we went for the special NYE menu - 4 course fixed price. $75 per person, and it included a glass of champagne (really prosecco). Everything was delicious - we ordered different things for every course except dessert so that we could share/try each other's. We dined here a couple years ago on NYE and knew it was going to be good. Very nice special occasion dinner.
Went for New Years Eve, did not realize we were going to be required to eat the "New Years Menu" at $75 per person. Very limited choices on the menu and there was nothing in the description about how spicy they were. Not worth the cost.
The fixed price of $75 for New Year's Eve dinner was overpriced for the amount and quality of the food. The salad was yummy but the calamari was tough. The Wellington was the smallest portion I have ever seen and not cooked properly. It should have been medium rare but came out over cooked (because it was so small) and I sent it back. Then I received one that was rare. The single glass of champagne was actually an inexpensive prosecco. We will not be going back.
When I arrived at the restaurant for my confirmed reservation it was closed!
Atmosphere was very nice and the service was great. I ordered the rabbit and it was very hot (spicy) which I didn't like. Unfortunately, the description on the menu didn't indicate that the dish was on the spicy side.
GREAT ATMOSPHERE, STAFF AND SERVICE!! Yummy food, too!
FANTABULICIOUS !!! For food, service, ambiance. Will definitely make the trip from Montreal soon and most definitely tell all about this place.
A la prochaine.
The food was generally good, but with some disappointing dishes (oysters, octopus salad).
The restaurant itself is physically one of my favorites.
Our enjoyment of the evening was somewhat marred by the way the initial cocktails were delivered. We had five at the table and got our drinks, one at a time, over about a 15 minute period.
Hits were the cioppino, scallops and steak large plates and the pineapple basil sorbet and chocolate bliss desserts.
The wine list is somewhat limited and relatively moderately expensive.
Dinner with one round of cocktails, one bottle of wine, appetizers, mains and desserts ran about $75 a person.
We were a large group (13) but they handled us flawlessly. The food was definitely the high point. The steak frites was cooked perfectly (medium rare), very flavorful and tender. The rabbit ragu was also delicious. We had many out-of-town folks with us, and they were all very pleased and impressed.
We made the reservation weeks in advance and they tried to seat us by the exit/bathroom. We waited for a new table and which was much nicer. The food was average and the Salmon dish was undercooked(raw in the entire middle) and had to be sent back.
Good food! A bit on the pricey side but always a treat. Cocktails are worth it. Although it would be nice to know what kind of glass it comes in before ordering. I got a pink cocktail in a flute glass. So much for being macho in front of my date. But I should have known better with watermelon infused gin. 🤔
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Church and Main
We were seated immediately and our waitperson was attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant
I had the hamburger and my husband had the chicken and we both enjoyed our meals
The drinks were also very good
Cinnamon ice cream is delicious
The service, food, and bar & wine menu were very good, and the menu was uniquely outstanding. This is a "go to" restaurant if visiting the downtown Burlington, VT area.
A bit pricey but enjoyable. If you like upscale, you'll like this. I think there are equally in not better choices for dining in Burlington for those who don't want to spend top dollar.
The short ribs were gross but everything else was awesome.
Food was good for the most part my soup and crab cake were very good my husband had the short ribs and Wes's very disappointed. The meet was dry and fatty. Maybe just a bad cut the server was amazing she very accommodating took his meal off the check without hesitation.
First visit to Burlington and Church & Main was wonderful. Food was excellent and service was great. Loved the burrata appetizer and my steak was cooked perfectly. Our server was pleasant and engaging. Will return here on our next visit.
We came here for dinner one night on a recent vacation. The food was very good and the menu had a good variety of selections. Our drinks were greats and the service was very good. The only downside to this restaurant was that the space is fairly small and our table was very close to our fellow diners, so just a little difficult to feel like you have any privacy. Otherwise, good food and drinks at a reasonable price point.
Our server was very polite. We were early for our reservation and the entrance area/bar area was very crowded. The drinks were good. For dinner, I started with the burratta, which was delicious, and had the steak frites for my main course, which wasn't great. The steak was not cooked to my order, and was very tough, even with a steak knife. That was a bummer. My husband also got a steak, and said it wasn't great. For the price, I would expect better.
Had a great dinner on a busy UVM reunion weekend. Seated on time. Great service. Great food. Fun atmosphere. Fantastic location in the heart of downtown. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.
Overall very good experience. We enjoy creative dishes, new flavor combinations, and classics. The small plate\large plate options offer nice possibilities. Everything we selected was very good. Standouts were the duck breast on carrot, the gnocchi with rabbit ragout, the cheese plate appetizer (amazing soft bleu), very tasty, although tiny, oysters on the half shell. The bench seating is a tad low, and I am 5'10", and the selection of music clashed with the ambiance i thought...rock 'n roll classics? Wait staff was professional and attentive. Saturday night, it was easy to get reservations at prime time which i thought surprising, because this food is as good as, and better, than some of the 'hot' places in town.
Church & Main was very accommodating for a table of 15, celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday. The staff went out of their way for me on several occasions, even picked up the cake from the bakery so I didn't have to worry about it. Service was fabulous, food and drinks were great! Several of us got the scallops w/bacon wrapped broccolini - SO good!! Salmon special was wonderful, they even made a special garlic bread pizza for the two kiddos who left feeling very special. We'll be back to this great place soon!
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great but the service was very slow. It took 40 minutes for us to get our appetizer and another 30 minutes to get our meal plus 20 minutes to get the check from our server at the end of the meal. They might have been understaffed that day but it definitely put a damper on the evening.
Church & Main is consistently good, service is always good as well. My flight was delayed and I had to move back the reservation twice, they were gracious about it.
