Chuck's has two locations. This is the newer of the two. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The food is some of the best cajun, bbq , and american you can find. Portions are large and the prices are fair. I have followed Chuck's for over ten years. The food and service remain some of the best in the Chicago area. He remains very involved in each location. It is not uncommon to have him visit with the patrons. Do not hesitate to stop him and ask questions. He has given us advise on stops along our route to New Orleans. Check the web site for specials and buffets.
Prefect happy hour place!
Incredible food. Will be going back again for dinner. Was a really great restaurant
This was our 3rd time there for breakfast. The service wasn't good at all. Our food was lukewarm at best. We ate it cause everyone was really hungry. We also ordered the beninets and they were cold. Our waitress did remove them from the bill. Service was really slow and we waited a long time for our food. It wasn't that busy for the wait time. It will be a while before we venture back, sorry to say.
I went here with three friends we all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our food. We especially enjoyed the Boudin balls. They were seasoned so differently. They were delicious.
We were there early for breakfast before shopping at the craft and vendor fair so I knew it would be crowded. Glad I used Open table! Waitress was great but the guy delivering food got a few things wrong so not sure if it was the kitchen or the waitress or him. It was busy but I think it’s always busy on the weekends. Hash browns cold and scrambled eggs lukewarm as well as the sausage links. Bread soggy not toasted or maybe they buttered it when I told them not to - oh well. It was okay but don’t think we will return in a vendor craft fair day again.
Too loud. Good service but the food quality is just so so.
Always great!! Chicken Rice soup classic, fried catfish never disappoints, mac and cheese comfort food, new Scooter burger is excellent: 1/2 lb burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It was excellent! Thanks Chef Chuck!!
I reserved a table for my department's lunch/meeting since it's very close to our office and I had been there before and knew the food was good. We had fast, friendly service and everyone enjoyed their food and it wasn't too loud that we couldn't hear each other across the table.
Great food at a modest price. A new twist on an old favorite food item. Usually six soups everyday. If you can not drive to New Orleans right now, you can drive to Chuck's. Behind the rear parking lot is Chuck's garden.
Went here for plant nite and had dinner before. Always s good time.
The food was just ok. The place was mobbed with trivia players (including our group) and the waiter was way too busy. They should have had extra servers or bartenders on duty.
My friend's food was cold. Instead of sending it back, she just didn't eat it. Mine was just ok. Very disappointing that a Cajun BBQ doesn't have red beans and rice on the menu.
Drink specials and bottled domestic beer specials were a good deal. Some of the plates are very over-priced.
Went to our first Trivia Night and so glad I made reservations on Open Table ! It was packed and a lot of fun - plus very well run. We arrived early to five before the game began (good idea) since our group was not going to be a drinking crowd. I had the Mahi which was fabulous!! I never would have thought it would be this good for a BBQ place. My friend was disappointed in her Jambalaya - had to treasure hunt for meat and when located it was simply a big piece of fat . She ordered a burger in place of it - all good. Chicken rice soup more like a stew (which I liked!) but my group did not. I have gone here for breakfast and that is really good - so we will have breakfast before the Arts & Craft Fair coming the weekend after Easter. It was a nice show last year and this time we will add breakfast !!
Keep the Trivia nights going - we will be watching for topics we might know but even though we tanked this last time we had a good evening out.
My husband, 7 month old daughter, and I came here for lunch on a weekday. Service was so fast which we appreciated, you could be in and out in under an hour if you wanted but you weren’t rushed if you wanted to sit and talk. Our waitress Venus was great.
The food was really delicious. We had brisket and pork between us as well as a few sides. I’m from S.C. and I’ve never had green beans that were so good.
The establishment is huge and is part of a banquet hall. There’s a bar area or huge sectioned off dining area where you can eat. We sat by the window which was pleasant. Would definitely recommend for everyday dining.
Always great food that Chuck puts his unique twists on. BBQ meets the Southwest meets New Orleans. The service is equally as great as the food. You will never leave hungry. The only problem I have is picking out what I want to eat and drink...so many choices that are delicious. But for first timers, get the 3 meat plate which needs to include the brisket, which can be cut with a plastic fork with ease. A must try!!!
Huge beer selection. Variety menu. Fantastic barbecue. Spacious. Clean
Usually my meals are prepared to my likening. This visit I had to return my meal, and then wait for my new meal to come. The people I was with had already finished their food by the time I returned. Waitress barely visited our table
Always amazing. We even got to meet Chuck who told us all about the new additions to the menu. Food was great! Service was great!
We were there for St. Patrick's Day. Enjoyed the corned beef and cabbage dinner.
We love Chuck's in Darien! The food is delicious. The wait staff is helpful and friendly. We go to Chuck's at least once every two months.
Another excellent dining experience at Chucks. Second time we have been to the Darien location. Easy to get to...the restaurant is big. Big bar. Good for bigger groups. Our server was Venus. She was excellent...drinks were refilled, plates removed promptly, food served in a timely manner..had time to enjoy our appetizers before main entrees were served..the entrée portions are generous, including the appetizers sizes. We ordered the BBQ nachos 1/2 order(7.99)...were very good, not spicy. The 4 corn bread muffins were big fresh soft but spicy(6.99)..Onion rings were not greasy, coating good flavor and cooked to perfection (6.99) Entrees we ordered were the Chucks Wedge salad (12.49) crisp, tasty, filling. Pulled pork sandwich with fries (10.99) tender and tasty and big. The Chicago wing dinner and the Chicago Strip dinner (12.79) were very generous portions and came with two sides..we choice mac/cheese, love it and yummy baked beans and fries. The corned beef dinner again was a very generous portion, great flavor and tender(19.99)...and my favorite, a special, the Chicken Enchiladas with mole' sauce (13.99)...was so good..mild sweet spice...omg so good. We were celebrating a birthday..Chucks was kind of enough to store the cake until after dinner...they offered plates, more napkins and forks. For our party of 6, it was a great memorable dinner. Thanks Chucks.
Great service and incredible food! Can’t wait to return and try something else from the vast menu!
we both ordered the pork chops, which she ordered before. Last time it was perfect and moist. This time it was as hard as a rock. Veggies that came with it was basically a mess in some sauce. Very disappointed.
Went in for the beignet breakfast. The family loved them! Our meals were delicious and no one left hungry.
Service was super slow
Large Cajun and BBQ menu, two distinct seating areas: large sports bar like area and an equally large "restaurant" area. Food was good to very good.
We had the Friday Seafood Buffet. It was awesome. Delicious different food. All fresh and plenty of it. Plus a cobbler for dessert and two wonderful soups.
Had the catfish. So perfectly prepared! Delicious as always.
Chuck's, whether it be the Darien or Burbank location, has always been one of my favorites. The Friday Fish Fry buffet was outstanding! Love, love, loved the shrimp 'n grits. Best I've had since being in Savannah years ago.
Great food and service. Would highly recommend looking at Local Flavor for coupons which are big cost savings. We drive to Darien because the value cannot be beat. The Mac and Cheese is really, really good. Service is always outstanding. Had the chicken dumpling soup which was great on the snowy night. Parking lot is rough especially with a little snow.
We had been told food was good.
So we had to visit glad we did, food
It was Valentine’s Day so very busy but food was just okay that night. Personally I think breakfast is there best meal!
Very nice place, better than most bbq we have been to. Met Chuck - super guy!
Visited on a Wednesday. There was bingo happening by the bar area. Overly loud in dining area. Thought it was the bar noise spilling over, but there were a lot of families with screaming children dining. It wasn't until these families started to leave that we realized the noise level diminished. Maybe the restaurant can add ways to diminish echoing noise? In the future, I'll consider visiting after 7:30pm.
The Hurricane drink served on Fat Tuesday was horrible. Not what I have had in New Orlando . The beef brisket was good but could have given more for the price. No music in restaurant. You had to pay 26 dollars a person for a buffet and music held in a banquet room. Will look for a different place to celebrate Fat Tuesday next year.
We go there regularly and are never disappointed. There are always new menu items to try. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very lively.
Glad we made a reservation and we're seated immediately on a very busy Saturday night. The ribs were the best I've ever had and our waitress was phenomenal. Enjoyed the quesadilla but was disappointed that it was not grilled, the tortilla was very doughy. The pulled pork and side was delicious. Came time for dessert and we were hoping someone would ask if it was a special occasion. It was my 60th birthday and our 33rd wedding anniversary so definitely disappointed that there wasn't any offering of a dessert. But we will be back for the barbecue and ambiance. Oh, also happy with the condensed menu... There used to be so many special menus that I got confused so kudos for that.
We went there for breakfast the food was very good the portions were big and the prices were very reasonable no complaints here we will definitely be back
