Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe - Darien Ratings and Reviews
I’m so glad this restaurant is in my neiborhood! Before they opened the restaurant choices for good food were slim to none. The atmosphere is noisy but fun, sports are always on in the bar. The food is a wonderful departure from the ordinary choices that most restaurants give you. It’s Louisiana meets Mexico. Give it a try they have something for even the most discerning palettes.
This is a very good place if you like BBQ and Southern Cooking. This time we went for their beignet breakfast. The French Toast variations were very good as was the skillet and pumpkin waffle. The beignets were good, but no comparison to those at Café du Monde.
My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend and looked on OT for someplace near our lodge. Chucks came up & the reviews were really great... we arrived and were greeted quite pleasantly, the restaurant is very nice and has a lot going on... pretty fun place to enjoy an evening out. The staff is very friendly & our waitress was pretty great! My soup was very good, something I'd never had before... We then ordered the SuperSampler, our brisket was right on the border of overcooked and needed a bit of seasoning but very tender so adding the sauce worked for us... our smoked chicken was good but was made great with the sauce and our rib tips were great with or without the sauce. The coleslaw was great but i didnt really care for the cajun green beans. My husband thoroughly enjoyed our dinner so we WILL indeed be back. Thanks Chucks for helping us celebrate our Anniversary weekend!
I have been here many times and it has always been very good food and service. I was very disapointed this time our server only came back 2 times thru our meal so we never got a refill on our drinks and the ribs and briskit were smothered in so much sauce they were almost floating on my plate......It is sad because I love the ribs.....I don't know what changed since I have been there from the last time but it is not good
We happened to be in the area and found Chuck's on Open Table. We rarely have BBQ when we go to a restaurant because you either don't get enough, its dry or its over priced for what you get. We were really impressed with the portions. I had a 3 meat sampler and everything was ridiculously good. We will definitely be returning!!
What a pleasant surprise. Outstanding beer selection. Great wait staff (Steven) and a varied selection of food. I had the Cajun crawfish etouffee with added shrimp. Enough zip to enjoy some heat, but not enough to make you sweat. And there were enough bar and menu options to make you want to come back again and again.
The food was excellent. My pulled pork sandwich had a great barbecue taste and the BBQ sauces on the table were also very flavorful. The waitress was very nice and professional. We were dining outside. When we were done with our meal, only one other table outdoors was occupied. Perhaps because there were so few people outside, it did take a rather long time for the waitress to give pick up the dishes, to ask if we wanted dessert, and to give us the check. (But still, she was a good waitress.) I regret that we live rather far from the restaurant, so I will probably never be there again. But I sure did enjoy the restaurant and the food!
Great food, just what I needed. They were great with the 2 1/2 year old, she thoroughly enjoyed herself! We had several dishes, and they all were great. Good place to go, but it is noisy. Make sure you have reservations, apparently a lot of people agree with me!
