Been coming to Christy’s since I was a little kid. My grandfather was a regular so it was a weekly dining experience for me growing up.
Now it’s for special occasions, the food is amazing but the memories for me as the best.
Wanted to take friends from ASan Diego to a nice dinner. The meal was great and service was wonderful. This is a great place for special experiences,
I had visited Christy's for over 20 years. Last time was around 2013. On my last visit the prices were much lower and they would include a cesar's salad with your entrée. This time the steaks were very expensive and there was no cesar's salad included, instead we had to pay for one and it was small. On a Saturday night this restaurant would have a line outside. This Saturday there was no line and empty tables inside. It seems that a lot of people are thinking like me. My advise is:
Never change a winning combination.
short pour martini , it seems their habit Tomahawk is shy of meat
Food acceptable service mediocre..................,,.....,,,,,,
We ordered the chefs recommendation. When we received it it was well done, instead of medium. We were offered two lobster tails, as a compensation. They never came. When we received the food again, it was rare, not medium. The manager told us that they prepared it rare so that it wouldn’t overcook again (wtf?). The food was ok. Not great. The bill was really high for the quality of the food that we received, and the compensation for their mistake never came.
Amazing old school charm! Do yourself a favor and check it out!
We always like Christy's for the atmosphere, service and quality of food. I had brought a Valentine's card for my wife a day ahead and asked them to present it to her when we sat for our Valentine's meal, and that was done cheerfully and flawlessly. One minor quibble, which we mentioned to the manager - the coffee and refills were not hot at all. Another regret is that for more than a year now management has no longer provided the famous Caesar salad as part of the meal even though there was no reduction in the price of entrees. And, on a personal level, we miss the chef "Q," but the quality of the meals remains high.
Food and service were excellent. Enjoyed every bite. Great night out.
What happened to piano player-it was a unique offering. Too bad.
A special evening for Mother-Daughter time and Christys has always been a good restaurant, while very very expensive I always found it worth the money and time to enjoy a good meal in a great setting.
Wedge salad could be a meal in itself, perfect and enjoyable.
Great steaks although my Filet was a bit salty. Best Brussel Sprouts ever although disappointing Truffle Mac n Cheese, bland and tasteless.
Shared a Key Line Pie with Taylor Fladgate after a most beautiful La Crema Pinot Noir.
Service? For the money needs improvement, after opening the wine and the customary first pour, server only came back once to refill wine. We ourselves poured the wine the rest of our meal. Our server never mentioned the specials, he spent more time hovering over other tables where a male was present.
Not worth saying anything as this was about quality time with my Daughter, I made my point by deducting the wine cost from final bill and provided our server a 15% gratuity just on food instead of my usual 20% overall.
Still Christys is a Coral Gables staple worth the visit, Enjoy!
We’ve been going to Christy’s for 20 years but it has changed. The food was super expensive and not worth the price—the filet was too tough to cut! The waiter had such a heavy accent that we had no idea what the specials were and we had to remind him to bring a side dish we ordered. We will NEVER go back.
Nice place, the food was nice, I had the crab cake appetizer which was sort of a brick but still crab meeting. Then I had to short rib which was cooked to perfection. Very tasty not very fatty. Had a few issues with our waiter who forgot to bring over a few things but it was a Tuesday night so I can’t blame them too much. And we did get out of there around 10:30 PM. All in all solid place wine prices weren’tOverly expensive but they were restaurant price.
Great evening, made our celebratory guest feel special.
We like christys
We were really disappointed. We used to frequent Christy's years ago and decided to go back after not going for some time. The caesar salad, which used to be included in the price of every steak (and is excellent), is now a separate item--prices have increased across the board. But the really disappointing thing was the steak itself. The quality was just not there. Texture-wise it was average at best, and very bland in flavor. Mine was somewhat overcooked as well. For a $50 a la carte steak, completely not worth it. The sides, wine selection, service and ambiance were all what I would expect, but the steak was not. Sad to say, as this was my favorite restaurant throughout the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's, but my wife and I will not be going back.
Christie’s continues to be a classic choice for dining in the Gables. Perfect for special occasions /celebrations or just date night with your spouse or significant other.
The menu is classic and the portions are healthy —- as it should be when you’re splurging $$.
The service was as expected for this place — excellent ...and compliments to the bartender for the best the dirty martini!
The wine list offered a good selection and varied pricing depending on what one wants to pay. We loved the tuna tartar - perfect for 2 to share.
The quality of chateaubriand cut was impecable and it was cooked to perfection, nicely presented and prepared at table side by our waiter. Don’t forget their classic Baked Alaskan for dessert.
We will be back ....
For starters the place looks great. Its low lit ambience was perfect for a date night and the volume of the other patrons was low enough so you can hear each other but didn’t feel like a library. Our server was very knowledgeable and suggested a great meal. The bar makes a good old fashioned too. A little pricey, but that’s the way it goes.
