Christy Hill Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our 30th Anniversary and enjoyed fabulous food and service at Christy Hill. Our waiter, Charles, was very attentive. He gave us a complimentary dessert to recognize the occasion...as they did for all the folks celebrating birthdays that night too. We didn't get to enjoy the ambiance until the rather loud and boisterous group seated next to us finally left....but after that, it was a wonderfully romantic evening. I highly recommend Christy Hill restaurant as the destination for any special occasion. Lakeside dining at its best!!
Simply the best in north Tahoe.....consistently excellent and we eat there a fair amount....very creative. For instance, Hamachi always on apps list, but every time we go prepared totally different....many things likewise.....always a treat. Wonderful for special occasions....
Christy Hill is our favorite place to dine in the North Lake Tahoe area. The food is always really great and the service cannot be beat. We usually dine there at least two times on every visit that we make to North Lake Tahoe and we get there about two times per year from the Bay Area.
Christy Hill is a family favorite. We look forward to our fancy annual family meal there each October. It is a little expensive, but the food, service and experience make the splurge worthwhile. We will be back again soon and recommend this place to anyone looking for an extra special dining experience - DEFINITELY the best restaurant on Lake Tahoe b
My wife and I came in ahead of our scheduled reservation after weeks of off-road camping and before going to our hotel to clean up! Just too tired. The hostess understood, set us up at a small (and only available) table and made sure we were taken care of throughout our meal. The courses were delicious and well-presented. The owner did classic short visits with her local regulars, adding to the atmosphere of causal elegance. Overall, the restaurant was exceptionally pleasant and friendly - a recommended stop on a Lake Tahoe visit.
One of the finest restaurants I’ve ever eaten at in the world. Chef is creative, imaginative, and truly tasteful in blending flavors, colors and textures. View of Tahoe also hard to beat. Service is friendly but at times overwhelmed given the popularity of the place. Not cheap, but you will not feel robbed.
We loved our first visit to Christy Hill. The food was delicious, especially the Morrocan lamb and pumpkin spice cake. Don't miss out on dessert. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Plus the view is wonderful from anywhere in the dining room. We will definitely be back!
Finally found a dish that was not oversalted-the duck duo-yum! Glad I tried this place again, as I'd been disappointed so many times with oversalted dishes. My friends had the pasta and did say that was still over salted. However, service was impeccable, fabulous wine and a delicious fall dessert, a spice cake with caramel ice cream was spectacular. I just think as long as you know thisnchef loves his salt and you work around it, it's a nice, comfy restaurant.
Never disappointed. A very pretty restaurant inside with afair amount of tables outside also. Try the grilled octopus appetizer and the Moroccan lamb entree. Th papardelle is also very good. This is a wine and beer only place it the wines are really well selected.
Great dinner! We started at The Sand Bar (sister spot); they were a little disorganized and messed up our order AND the bill. I'm being a little picky, though; they DID fire up one of the cozy outdoor fire pits for us. The restaurant itself was nice; we had the "Bistro steak" which was really very good.
We specifically visited this restaurant on our travel to the Lake Tahoe area based on recommendations, from the Ritz-Carlton concierge, for fabulous views of the lake and superb food.
Fabulous views of the Lake: Possible.
Unfortunately, the seating/table choices offered by the hostess were less than optimal ... table for two with one of us seated with our back to the lake (what view?) and a confined (literately) two-person bench where the table required moving to enter or exit ... despite making an early 5:30pm Thursday reservation and the availability of other better seating (indoors and outside deck) which we witnessed assigned to patrons arriving after us.
Superb food: Mixed.
We started with the Bibb Lettuce Salad with Manchego, Herbed Avocado Dressing & Candied Almonds and were not disappointed -- it was superb.
For our mains my husband selected the Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut with Torpedo Onions, Young Carrots, Flageolets, Herictos Verts, Saffron Artichoke Barigoule which was cooked lovely, but under seasoned -- bland.
I opted for the Scallops which were excellent -- perfectly prepared and seasoned.
We finished with the Affogato Dessert of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Shot of Espresso which was also superb.
Bottom-line: If we decide to return to this restaurant whose best selling feature is the view of the Lake we'll likely have the hotel concierge make the reservation to see if that assures better seating, as there seems to be a formula to table assignment which didn't seem to extend to Open Table reservations.
