A memorable dining experience awaits you as you enter the Christy Hill Restaurant in the center of Tahoe City. The restaurant sits just 100 feet above the shoreline of Lake Tahoe on an elevated embankment offering diners a panoramic vista. The intimate setting offers guests a view that is only upstaged by the cuisine. Spectacular sunsets that can be seen from every table is just one of the many reasons that Christy Hill was voted "Most Romantic Restaurant" by the San Francisco Chronicle.

I have been wanting to go to Christy Hill for some time and finally was able to get a reservation for a night we were in town- it was so worth the wait! Great food, great service and they had one of my favorite Pinot Noir's (Rochioli) on their wine list. I have already booked for Christmas time to make sure we get back!

Been here many times and have always enjoyed the dinner, service, and ambience. Gnocchi was great in a broth with mushrooms just barely cooked, scallops nicely crusted, duck always crispy. "Way too many wine choices", but always can find something different to choose from. Easily one of the 5 best in Tahoe.

Get in here!

Wine ordered was not the vintage year on the menu. Waiter did not mention this, nor was he concerned that it was the incorrect year. Extremely overpriced for food and wine. Very disappointed with quality and taste of both meals ordered.

Though the food is excellent the view makes the experience exceptional. This return visit was our first as a party of four. The four tops are small and with a full service the table felt overly crowded. The full room on a Saturday night was extremely loud distracting from an otherwise wonderful dining experience.

We travel for Phoenix twice a year to eat at Christy Hill. The menu is always exceptional . We tried the special appetizer, smoked trout pate on toast points with marinated onions. The taste exploded in my mouth. Also loved the homemade pasta with English peas. It is so hard to choose what to eat since everything is fantastic. We love how the mirrors are used for some seats that cant look out on the breath taking Lake Tahoe. Make sure you plan a leisurely visit-- every year!!!

Overpriced . Overpriced overpriced. Technical skill of food prep was average. Ridiculous scallop small plate. One scallop!!!! Over cooked. Pasta entree was bland. Lamb entree seasoned well. Small portion. Will not return to eat here. Corkage fee reasonable for one bottle but increase by $5 for subsequent bottles insulting!

First of all Christy Hill was a great find. Their food and menu are spectacular. We went back early the second night of our stay at Tahoe just because the Caesar salad, Tagliatelle and pan seared Alaskan Halibut were as good as any restaurant in SF. The atmosphere was totally different from Thursday to Friday. The Friday crowd was very drunk and loud, with music to boot. The waiter on Thursday was efficient but aloof and not attentive. The one on Friday, very young but clearly much too busy. No effort was made to make us comfortable from a door left ajar and wind whistling through. From my perspective, keep the cook, train service personnel to behave like wait staff and at least have a professional interest in diners desires.

Christy Hill restaurant was a disappointment. Yes, the view is superb. It is even intimate, as is claimed in some of the write-ups, if you consider having tables for two side-by-side within 20 inches as intimate. The first couple seated next to us decided to leave after not being comfortable being so close. They probably had bought into the "date night" description of the restaurant.

The menu said that bread needs to be requested (not offered by the wait staff). We requested bread and the waiter delivered a basket of cold bread that had a very hard crust. It probably had been left in the oven too long. I ordered the Moroccan lamb, which was about as tough as I have ever had. My wife's pork was OK.

My drink of diet coke was getting low and I had to ask for a refill. To my surprise I found that the refill was charged at $3 on the bill. Were we in Europe? Come to think of it, the condescending, rather cold wait staff attitude reminded me of some European restaurant service.

Regarding noise, it was pretty bad. A party of ten adults with two young children occupied the space in the middle of the room. (It was too cold to sit outside.)

Fortunately, there are other restaurants on the north shore. Dinner at Lanza's was good as ever, served by friendly, attentive staff. Similarly, breakfast at The Old Post Office in Carnelian Bay was great. Christy Hill strikes me as pretentious. We won't go back.
