Christopher's Prime Steak House & Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were staying at the Peery Hotel for the night and decided to go to Christopher's. We went to Christopher's ten years ago at their previous location and enjoyed the experience. We knew how much higher the menu prices were than the normal restaurants we frequent often. The quality of the food lived up to the higher price level we were expecting. Our appetizers (spare ribs and donut-sized onion rings), our salads, our main entrees (Filet Mignon 8oz, Butternut Squash Ravioli's) and even the desert (creme-brulee) was the best we have ever tasted. Though the menu prices will limit us returning often, the food was incredible. The only small complaint I would have is that the server was busy with many tables, so at times it seems we were waiting longer than expected, yet our food courses did come out promptly, fresh and hot.
we were in slc for a convention, very casual clothes, we usually share a meal when we dine out, especially when staying at a hotel.(can't take left overs home) I asked for one meal he looks at my hooded sweater are you using a coupon? I said yes he said we have to buy 2 meals, it went down hill from there, he didn't offer to bag up our food like the other service staff was doing, the manager took care of our coupon, I asked for a bag and they just walked by the table and tossed it there. Didn't bag it up or wish us a good night. Being snotty does not count as good customer service, I am a business owner myself and will not recommend this place to any of my clients, being nice doesn't depend on how much money you think we have. We should have went to Ruth's they get great reviews from my middle class friends and clients.
The food was fantastic.
The service, however, was really underwhelming. It was 20 minutes after we were seated before anyone came by to take our order (other than drinks). Once we did order, it took 45 minutes to get our food. The bus boys who hand out rolls and top off drinks just kept skipping the 3 tables in our section. Even when I flagged them down to ask for something, and got a "I'll be right back with that" response, they forgot about us and didn't come back. Again, the food was fantastic, but they even struggled there. I asked for one of their complementary side sauces to go with my steak, it didn't come out with my meal. When I asked our waiter about it, he said he'd be right back with it. After 10 minutes of waiting I gave up and ate my meal without it. Our waiter came back with it when I had two bites left. Then, we told him we needed to get going to make it to another event and asked for our desert to-go. I also asked him to bring our check asap so I could get it taken care of. He again disappeared and didn't come back until the desert was done. He handed me the check with the desert and I told him to hold on as I had my card ready to go. I stuck the card in with the check and went to hand it to him and he was already gone. 15 minutes later he came back to get the check. By this time I was pretty irritated as we were about to be late to our next stop. Now, to be fair, we went on a very busy night where they had two large Christmas parties going on in half the restaurant, but there were 3 couples that came in after, ate and left before we even got our check. For what we payed for our meal, I would think service would be an emphasis.
Next time we'll go to Spencer's.
Really enjoyed this restaurant. It’s a little more than I usually like to spend but my daughter and I were in town for some mother-daughter time and I felt like we deserved a treat. Very nice ambiance. Elegant but the restrooms didn’t continue the flow. They definitely need updating (fix stall locks, broken seat liner holders, clean and fresh paint-may help) Food was amazing! Staff was awesome.
The service was excellent and we enjoyed our filet mignon steaks they were prepared just perfectly the special that we ordered was well worth the value we finished with that ice cream dessert which was also excellent we could suggest they have some nice mints at the door when checking out
My boyfriend and I hadn't been out of the house and away from the kids in weeks. This was the best date we have had in quite some time. The food was amazing. A steakhouse very well done. It is quiet, you're not having to yell over music to speak to each other across the table. It's not so dark that you can't see anything around you either. We had the shrimp cocktail to start, I had a flight of white wine and he had a specialty cocktail. They were lovely and paired well with the food. I then left the choice of my red up to our server and was thrilled with the meal. I wanted to take another order of brussel sprouts home in my purse with me. By far the best meal I have had in some time. Wonderful experience that I will definitely be doing again.
Halloween is a quiet night for restaurants. For the first hour we had the place to ourselves. We pretened we had great wealth and bought our Christopher’s for our private anniversary dinner.
When we checked directions with the iPhone, Siri told us they were pricey. That made us laugh. She was right they are pricey, but we were prepared for it armed with a GroupOn coupon.
The filet mignon was wonderfu.
My negative review has nothing to do with the quality of the food or service at Christophers. Both were first rate and it would have been a delightful evening except for the fact I got a parking ticket by ABM Parking services who apparently own the lot where the restaurant is located. I would have gladly paid the parking fee but I never saw the sign that specified a parking fee for the lot. Nor did I notice the sign in the restaurant tucked into a dark corner of the hostess desk (where no hostess ever was while I was there 2 X in one night). (There is an 8.5X11 inch framed small print note that the restaurant recommended patrons pay for parking as they were not responsible for it or any damage to your car. I saw it only when I returned to complain. There was still no hostess at the desk. )
So, a $5 parking fee turned into a $50 parking ticket because I did not see the sign off to the side of the entrance. I only saw it and the sign on the hostess desk when I returned to the restaurant to complain about the ticket after I had left the first time and I was looking for both this time. There also appeared to be a parking attendant who skulked around in the dark, apparently waiting for miscreants to not pay their parking fee so he could stick the parking violation ticket on the car. I only noticed him when I returned the second time to complain about the parking ticket. I think he was getting ready to write me a second violation but I drove off too soon the second time. The whole affair smelled like a scam to me. This ruined what would have been a perfectly good experience at the restaurant. Other local high end restaurants also charge for parking but it is clearly marked at the entrance and there is usually valet parking there as well. They also validate with discounts for parking fees. Not so at Christophers. Given the price of the meal combined with the parking ticket, I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth.
This is an old-school steakhouse, and you pay dearly for the environment. The meat, a dry-aged, bone-in ribeye was excellent, and prepared perfectly. The sides were decent, but markedly unspectacular: grilled asparagus tasty but over cooked, wedge salad crisp but bland, dinner rolls unremarkable and accompanied by distractingly sweet honey butter. The service was attentive and friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable. Along with the meat, what is noteworthy is the quiet stake house vibe, with high backed booths, low lighting, and a hushed reverence for aged meat. It is locally owned, and in every way superior to the big-chain steakhouse around the corner, but don’t go looking for a bargain. This is the place to take your date before the prom, or for your 30th anniversary, but take a pass if you are looking for creativity or for a bargain.
For the most part everything was good. Service impeccable. I was a disappointed in the food and this for the second time. For the price, which I think is way overpriced, I expected much better. I have had better steaks elsewhere for a lot less. Also the ambiance is nice but it reminds me of a gentleman's club. The kind you'd get together at and drink brandy and smoke a cigar. If you want to spend a lot of money on dinner, here's the restaurant to do that.
The steak was to die for, quite literally! The asparagus was cooked and seasoned perfectly and I was extremely impressed with the staff. Crème Brule was yummy and the water tasted great! My husband and I went here on a special night out "date" and it was wonderful, quiet and best of all, we arrived a bit late for our reservation, and the staff was still so hospitable and kind! 5 out of 5 stars!
Food was great! Our server was less than helpful. We asked about a promotion going on, and he said he thought it was going on but didn't give us much more information than that. Our water was never refilled. Was not worth the price paid. We've had much better steak for less money.
