Christopher's on Lincoln Ratings and Reviews
Second time we ate at Christopher's and will continue to go back. Excellent prices for the
food and service which were both 5 star. My wife had the short ribs and I had the fish special,
both were outstanding. They pour the wine at the table and they are very generous. Ambience
and service were first class. Highly recommend and will go back when we are in town again.
This is a quiet, elegant restaurant with excellent service and great food. As with all restaurants in Carmel, it is not cheap but you do get great value for your money. We have celebrated two anniversaries there and will probably do the same next year!
A lovely place to relax!
Christmas Dinner -We frequent Carmel a couple of times per year and this was the second time we have been to Christopher’s. Service is always great though we were given a table by the door which gave a lot of foot traffic. Food was good but the menu seemed limited compared to last year.
We were looking forward to a lovely meal, but I have to say it was the worst meal we have had out in a restaurant in years. We ordered the evening special linguine with seafood. The waiter said it would be in a lite broth, but it was nothing but water. Absolutely NO flavor at all. They put a little pesto in the water. Ugh, I couldn’t believe a chef would let this dish out of the kitchen.
The seafood was so over cooked with no flavor. I asked the waitress for more pesto, I tasted the pesto and it had no flavor at all, but I added it to the dish desperate for flavor of some kind.
I started adding olive oil lots of salt and pepper and asked for pepper flakes hopping for a little flavor besides water. It was a disaster, we should have sent it back.
We started with a Caesar salad my grandkids could have made.....again, no flavor just cut up tiny pieces of romaine lettuce and tiny croutons. For $10.00 it was a joke.
Two thumbs down for this place, trust me you can do much better at so many other wonderful
In Carmel. Don’t waste your money here. Never again, unless the chef tastes his food first.
What a shame.
Enjoyed a nice but not extraordinary dinner here. Server was very efficient and everything was well presented. I had a nice tequila and lime cured salmon starter but was disappointed with the duck main which had a very watery and largely flavourless cherry and brandy gravy. More flavour would have been good to match the duck which was perfectly cooked. Ambience was nice.
We are locals and Christopher's is one of our favorite restaurants - in a town that has MANY options. The food was wonderful and the service was terrific - very attentive but not smothering. We are so lucky to have such an excellent restaurant available to us.
Christopher's is our favorite restaurant in Carmel. It is tucked away on a quiet street just off Ocean Avenue. The two tiered dining room is beautiful. The service is always outstanding. Servers are friendly, and very efficient. The food is excellent. Varied choices on the menu, and the food is always delicious.
The main problems with this places was the service as it was spotty and a bit slow. Also got asked how the food was too many times. Additionally, the owner, who was dressed in chefs whites was hovering about the restaurant. If he is part of the kitchen crew as his dress would indicate, why was he out on the floor. His hovering was very weird. He should either stay in the kitchen or dress like rest of the floor staff.
Definitely a great meal off the main strip in Carmel. We were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. It’s a nice, quiet place where you can actually talk to each other. I mentioned on OpenTable that it was or anniversary, and they brought us champagne to celebrate right off the bat (and did not charge us for it). Great service and the food was excellent. At dessert, my wife got a Port ‘upgrade’ from 10 to 20yr because they were out of 10yr.
I’m writing a rare review for me because this place is really good and might get overlooked by the younger well off crowd like us. We also sat next to two local women-another sign this place is the real deal. We’ll be back next time in Carmel.
Food was good but does not stand out against other places I have eaten. In Carmel terms, and probably regional terms terms, prices were fair. This was a recommendation from someone local, so perhaps we started with expectations to high and, without eating at other many other restaurants in Carmel, I can not fairly compare. Ingredients were fresh and well presented. You might be best going with the dishes they are well known for (the friendly and easy going staff can advise) or the specials. Wine selection was good. Service was good but not as skilled or informed as the excellent service we received at Cultura (interesting and Californian influenced Mexican). If I was looking for a comparison this was not a patch on what I would consider my best meal out in a Californian cuisine restaurant (Palmers on Fillmore Street, San Francisco).
The food was very good and the atmosphere was wonderful. The service was a little indifferent as they seemed understaffed. I had made the note on our reservation that this was our 48th wedding anniversary which also went unnoticed by the staff. A friend recommended Christopher's to us and it's a very good restaurant but there are many good restaurants in Carmel and we want to try all of them.
Charming restaurant on an adorable side street in a converted home nestled in the woods of Carmel. Service was excellent and they have numerous specials each evening in addition to their menu. Terrific selection of wines and recommend trying one of their house specialty cocktails.
