Was looking forward to trying this long standing restaurant. So disappointed in everything. Only acceptable item we had was the marinara that accompanied the onion rings and the bread. Baked potato hard, augratin potatoes tasted like chemicles, trout was over cooked and flavorless Overpriced and the waitress was borderline rude and inattentive. Will not return.
Josh and I went here for his birthday, we participated in the Houston Restaurant Week for the 3 course meal for $35 per person. We both started with the Gumbo, it was delicious, they had my favorite crackers, the toll house butter crackers. He opted for the Seafood Platter with the stuffed crab (not a fan of), fried catfish and fried shrimp with a side of fries and I got the 6 oz steak with the shrimp on a bed of rice. Everything tasted very good and I even had some to take home to our Cairo. We both got the key lime pie for dessert, it was amazing, the whipped cream was just right and the crust was just yummy. Overall, we spent about $82, we were very happy with the food and service, would definitely come back for a special occasion!
Great variety in the sea food. From general fried to baked fish n shrimp to crab balls and sirloin to die for. We will be back!
Food and presentation was outstanding. Service was good but slow
We had heard about Christie's and wanted to try them. I like lemon drop martinis but found theirs to be very bitter, our meals were ordered off the HRW menu and the fried seafood was very good but my husband said his beef tips tasted old and were tough. He didn't enjoy his meal. The service was a bit slow. On a positive note if you like fried seafood you would enjoy it. The building has a older style to it and adds to its history. Every restaurant has its charms and Christie's is no different and we highly respect the restaurants that participate in Houston's Restaurant week they are amoung the best Houston had to offer. Give them a try and see if they are for you.
Love the ketchup
Great time to check it out - Houston Redtsirant Week
I think the dessert was cut smaller than other portions, but overall the food was delicious.
My first time to visit! It’s was wonderful! The only issue, I noted in my reservation we were celebrating a birthday. It was not mentioned by the server.
Excellent food and service. One of the best seafood restaurants in Houston
Six of us had lunch there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were warmly greeted and seated at a round table tucked in a quiet corner. The service was excellent, the lunch menu offered a nice selection of choices, and everyone loved their food!
It was my birthday and I enjoyed every bit of it. The waitress surprise me with ice cream cherry sparkle candle and whip cream with a writing say happy birthday Food was excellent. Will encourage anyone to go
We celebrated our 5 year anniversary and everything was excellent! In fact we are going back today!
The restaurant is very 1970's, in the food and ambiance. However, we had a pleasant meal and good service.
Great blackened shrimp with crab meat. Staff was fantastic. Maria lent me her phone charger since my phone dead after flying in from South Carolina. I would recommend this over other franchise eateries.
We had a family luncheon for my mother’s 90th birthday. The restaurant accommodates the needs of elder diners nicely as well as members of our party with food sensitivities that have dined there regularly which made this a perfect choice. We all chose seafood meals and were completely satisfied. My only disappointment was that our servers were not as attentive to us and to detail as I would have expected for a group like ours.
One hundred years and still going. Not exceptional food but always OK. Pricing a little high for quality of food though. Never a great meal but never a bad meal. Prefer dishes that are not deep fried as the fried dishes are a little greasy. Try a blackened dish instead.
IT WAS GREAT!
I MADE A HAPPY PLATE!
OH I JUST RE-READ THAT!
LOL I'M A POET AND DIDN'T KNOW IT.
Christie's has amazing seafood and a great atmosphere. The wait staff is always friendly and can provide recommendations.
The absolute best fried shrimp 🦐 in town!!! Go for a dozen ... you will be so happy. This is the reason why it has been around for years. Luv the old style because the place is spotless you feel trendy not dated. Also Greek salad is worthy to mention.
The 3rd generation is keeping true to the quality. Keep up the good work.
I chose Christie's for a first date. The atmosphere was very conducive to a quiet evening with wonderful food. Omari provided excellent service and was attentive to our needs without interfering with our conversation. The food was excellent!
Neighborhood favorite for years. Solid, dependable, reasonably priced. Wonderful seafood, excellent flounder. One of our local favorites.
Always great service!!! Atmosphere is so welcoming. I have been coming to Christie’s since I was a little girl. The food is always delicious.
Great environment for gathering, great service and great food.
Our family has been coming to Christie's for years. Our step-father loved this restaurant and we've continued going there since he passed away 20 years ago. We celebrated our mother's 85th birthday there (party of 20+) and hope to be there again for her 90th. The patrons are on the elderly side and we usually see a lot of extended families there. I had the snapper prepared Greek style (the owners are Greek), Mother had fried oysters and my sister had the Calamari salad. Delicious!
We celebrated my mom ‘s birthday. We all ordered fried shrimp. The best fried shrimp and onion rings. Service was great. We will be back.
Yes it has been around for over 100 years and the reason ... Best Fried Shrimp in Houston. Get a dozen.... they are that good that others at your table will try one or two. Greek salad is also a must.
The service is attentive & the restaurant is quiet so you can enjoy a conversation with your friends.
Consistency is good & so is the fried 🦐
When we go to Christies we always feel like family. We had family in from Louisiana and they swear it was the best raw oysters they have ever had.
My husband and I often come to Christied for lunch and have oysters at the bar. Staff is always friendly and food ALWAYS good! We’ll be keep coming back! And now it is a destination for my Louisiana sister!!
The food was very good and they brought it fast. The host and waitress were polite and came by our table often to ask if everything is okay.
The seafood is consistently good. Most preparations are based on Gulf Coast or Cajun recipes. The cocktail sauce is disappointingly bland. The salad dressings taste very institutional. This restaurant has been around for many years and the decor is outdated, but you can get a table on a weekend evening without a reservation and have a conversation during dinner without having to shout. Prices are 50% less than at most of the more trendy seafood restaurants.
Great food and service.
Christie's has been a favorite of mine for over 50 years. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. The Christie's Pride and Stuffed Shrimp are 2 of my favorites. They always score a 10 in my book.
Enjoyed the great environment, excellent service and good food as always.
great food as always...low key atmosphere. seafood is always fresh.
Unfortunately no one in our party enjoyed their food. Our beginning of the evening started off with great service but then went downhill quickly as it was almost like someone didn't show up for work. We asked that our mother was treated special for her 75th birthday and when it was time for the b/d song/dessert she was brought a scoop of ice cream. I would have rather ordered a slice of cake or something more special but we were never even asked what we wanted to do for that portion of the meal. We will not be back. The food felt "frozen" and not fresh at all. Very disappointing.
Much love to this place but its pretty average, gastronomically. Old school Htown simplicity with a smile:)
Have been dining here for 35+ years. Food is always good and service on spot. Always made to feel welcomed and appreciated. Will continue to visit as long as we are able. Sure do miss Pappa Love. Thank you Christie Family!
Fantastic oysters wow and great service, overall great nostalgic restaurant with great service and food
