Christian Michael's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Patrick was very accommodating in turning down the music which was a little loud for my taste. Only drawback was that the tables are awfully close together when there was a huge section of the restaurant not in use - would love if they could spread the tables out in seasons when they are not as busy. Food and wine were excellent.
First time here on wife's b'day. Turned out we hit "wine Wednesday" and the entire wine list was 25% off. Splurged on a bottle from a favorite Napa winery and the discount was a nice surprise. Food was very good. Beet salad was tasty though could have benefited from actual chunks of goat cheese vs. a light dusting. Didn't care for the flash seared romain salad. We had the seafood tortellini and the bacon wrapped meat loaf. Both were dishes I'd order again. Service was attentive but not overly so. Very quiet evening in the dining room with just us and 3 other dinner parties. The bar had much more going on and was pretty full but did not overly intrude on the dining room. We will be back, on a Wednesday.
We have eaten here on several special occasions. The service is always impeccable and they always make everything and everyone feel special. The food is mostly things you wouldn’t find in common places. I find the prime rib to be exceptional, and if you save room for dessert the creme brûlée is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Price is a little high but you get what you pay for!
We invited a few friends to my husband's birthday party. The waiter was very attentive and the service was great. They were very gracious about serving the wine we provided. They provided a champagne bucket for the prosecco. We arrived early for the dinner specials, which have soup or salad, an entree and a dessert. The meal was delicious. And unlike most places the dessert is from the normal dessert menu, and is well worth it.
We were looking forward to filet mignonette listed on the website menu. Unfortunately not offered on the menu at the restaurant. My husband had the steak which he said was rather tough. I had the tenderloins of beef which arrived cold and much more rare than I like ( medium was quite reddish). The service was good but the noise level was so loud my husband sitting across the table from me had to keep asking me to repeat what I said. not worth the $130 it cost us. I'm sure we won't go back
Perfect for celebrating occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. the food is great. Quiet dining area perfect for conversation. Service is also great. Matt was attentive without hovering. Found the experience exactly as planned. Celebrated a milestone birthday and enjoyed the evening.
I’ve eaten here before on a few occasions and I’ve had amazing food and service before but this particular evening everything was just mediocre. The whole experience, food and service was just blah. No one was rude or unpleasant; our server was a little, shall we say, “clunky”. The meatloaf, which I had previously and loved it, was bland as was the sauce. My husband commented his tenderloin was lacking in flavor. The dessert was just okay. I’m not sure what the deal was, maybe bc it was a weeknight? We’ve had all of this before and it seemed to be much more satisfying in the past. After dropping $100 for our anniversary date I was left feeling that maybe I should have chosen elsewhere. Btw, I had made a reservation with a note about celebrating our anniversary and not one word from staff about it. Found that a little disappointing; most restaurants will comp a dessert or at least acknowledge the special occasion.
Went here for anniversary. food was excellent, and fast. great value for what we got, except wish there were more crab cakes for the appetizer, they were delicious! they use veggies and fruits from the local farmers market. the service was fast, accommodating, and really funny guy. he did a great job at helping us with what is great for our tastes, wish i got his name. overall very amazing dinner. would recommend for a fancier night out.
I took a client team out to dinner with a party of 10. The food was very good and there was a full bar offering cocktails. Unfortunately, after inquiring on our food order more than an hour after we placed it, we were told that the order never printed and so had not been started. This was disappointing. They did recover nicely and delivered excellent plates in about 10 minutes, also offering complimentary salads and some drinks for the wait. Also a sizable discount was applied to the overall ticket, so we were certainly "made whole." The clientele are "older" and the ambiance is fairly plain, but good food and drinks.
This restaurant is hyped up way too much. I made a reservation for prom and it was extremely overpriced for the entrees, the service was mediocre and the 18% gratuity added to each check is absolutely ridiculous. I would not tip that much for the food because it was not very good, my salmon was cooked decently but my dates pasta was in watery sauce, the service wasn't great and the menu selection needs to be broadened. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We chose this restaurant in Chico because we wanted to eat at a nice restaurant to celebrate our son's graduation. We were also looking for a place that would offer some gluten free options and that took reservations. We were very pleased with our choice!! The food/drink and the service were all top notch and we would definitely choose to eat at Christian Michael's Ristorante again!!
Despite a very crowded room due to university graduation weekend, our servers were prompt, didn't rush us and were helpful with suggestions. My sister had the halibut special and I couldn't resist the prime rib. Both delicious, arrived hot, nicely presented. I brought half my dinner home for another meal as my portion was huge! Our waiter, David, was efficient and attentive. We will be back!
Great food at an extremely moderate price: $25 per person for a champagne brunch on Mother's Day (kids were half price). The food was great--creative use of high-quality ingredients--and the service was outstanding. I told the waitress I would drink only one glass of champagne, because I was driving. She came back several times to refill my wife's glass, but never asked me if I wanted more--a gesture I appreciated. It's all too easy to think "oh, what can one more glass hurt?" When presented with the bill, the waitress explained that the gratuity was already included because it was a holiday event (even though we were only a part of four), but the service was so excellent I added a modest additional tip--about 10 percent. As we chatted outside the restaurant before getting into our cars (we'd arrived separately), the waitress came outside, tapped me on the shoulder, and thanked me. I tend to tip generously anyway, especially for good service, but that was a first for me.
Went for Mother's Day brunch. Very nice setting. Service was good. Kitchen got our order wrong and one person had to wait for the correction. Manager made special effort to apologize and speed up the correction. Our main criticism is that the food is mediocre, which is a shame because it's one of the nicest white tablecloth and crystal restaurants in downtown Chico.
