Chris Michael's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We had such a wonderful evening at Chris Michael's with our Friends! Everyone who works at Chris Michael's could not have been Friendlier! The food was excelent and the atmosphere was quiet but nice for a Thursday evening! Brian the Manager was exceptionaly nice and made sure we were happy with everything from start to finish! He is very knowledgeable about wines and it was fun talking to him about our favorite wineries! We all live about an hour from this resturant and it was certainly worth the trip, we are so looking forward to going back again soon!
My normal 5 star expectations when I go to Chris Michael's fell a bit short this time around. I think we were placed with a first-time or very green waiter. He didn't ask if we wanted a drink from the bar when we sat (which we did). He didn't know to offer, or have the specials with him when he did come to take our order. His voice was so soft we couldn't hear ... problems we never had at CM's. As far as the steaks go, the petite-filet ordered medium had to be a medium rare and the rib steak order medium rare came out medium. The charred octopus an octopus salad. Disappointed.
We ordered the Burrata and it was very salty, almost inedible. The ribeye and filet were no better than what we can buy in our local supermarket.
We we seated in one of the worst tables despite the restaurant being empty. We asked to be reseated and were told we could not. We assumed because the other tables were being reserved for larger parties. Within 15 minutes numerous couples were seated at these tables. BTW we had reservations. No reason why a customer be denied a request.
Service was poor being served by a person who barely knew the menu.
Overall, poor food, poor service and ambience is dated and dull.
Will never go back.
Another great meal at Chris Michael's!! The food is always fantastic. The steaks were cooked perfectly, the sides are scrumptious and reasonably priced. Everything from appetizers to dessert was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Our waiter Andreas was wonderful. He was very attentive while still giving us enough privacy to enjoy our dinner. He was so friendly and the complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary was a nice touch and very thoughtful. We left feeling completely satisfied with our meal and happy with the entire experience. We will certainly be back again in the future!
Waiter tried to over charge my CC and I pointed out the 'supposed error'. The manager came out to give me a very lousy explanation of what had happened. I know better! Never going back there again.
I recommend anyone who goes there to review the charges on the itemized bill and what they bring back after they get authorization from the bank on the CC.
Totally top-notch. I had the tremendous rib-eye, my wife the petite filet mignon. Nothing about the filet was petite and even I couldn't finish the rib-eye. Both done perfectly. We both were going low-carb so the meat was where the action was. Can't find a better steak certainly in NJ
There was a private party in the next room. They had the bass WAY UP. It was very annoying. I asked if they could see about getting it lowered. The person (maybe manager) said yes. Not sure if he tried or not, but the noise level didn't change.
Otherwise, the food and service was excellent.
Not at all happy with my 22 oz. Ribeye.
Very tough, not at all any hint of aging and came out medium well ( ordered medium rare). My wife had petite filet which she said was outstanding. Sides of mushrooms, mac n cheese and hot peppers were ample for 4 people and very good. Wine prices are approaching a 3x cost markup so I consider that high. Service was very good, attentive without imposing and our server took care to stagger appetizers( sushi roll), then salads (nice wedge) and then main plates.
Had an issue using a gift card ( an actual Chris Michaels issued gift card) for the second time in 3 visits. Put a damper on the nights expierience.
We went here to celebrate my son's new career. I chose this place as a few years earlier a friend and I stopped in and had a late lunch. I remembered the steak I had was phenomenal. Last Friday night we were not dissappointed. The service was impeccable, all 3 of us had amazing appetizers, entrees and dessert. If that wasn't reason enough to give this restaurant a great review, our waiter Josh was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and professional. A week earlier I went to a very popular steakhouse in Red Bank and it pales in comparison to Chris Michaels. Highly recommend it. Lynne F
Chris Michael's has the classic steakhouse look and feel. Was there for a business lunch with 4 others. Menu was appropriate and food was great - more than ample per serving. Price was quite fair.
Appetizers ordered included calimari and avocado toast. I had a half rack of ribs and the plate of hot, spicy peppers which were just that as hoped. All others enjoyed their fare.
Although the restaurant was relatively empty, service was very slow. One of the bread plates was covered with baked on food (probably 2 plates stuck together in the DW). Regardless, I would definitely return.
We had selected this restaurant, to celebrate a family friends birthday, from a list suggested by Open Table because it was close to my friend's house. None of us had been there before, but we found the reviews to be helpful. Chris Michael was a terrific find, as the food was great, the ambiance was lovely and the service was first class. Everyone enjoyed the occasion and the birthday girl expects to use CM as the go-to place for future celebrations and business events. We were very happy that CM has a good wine list and we selected a 2001 Tampraneno Reserva that was a delight!
Solid 4 star steakhouse, and probably best in the area. Food was a little slow in coming out. Steak and rack of lamb were done perfectly, and apps were tasty. Wine list gets very pricy, with few choices on the low to medium scale. Our server did an excellent job, supporting staff was a little slow till they got warmed up. Mandatory valet parking was a mystery requirement. Would certainly go again.
Exquisite date night! The drink menu is extensive. We shared the meatball appetizer, I ordered the sea bass special, and dessert was decadent. Presentation was beautiful all throughout. Service was impeccable. This is now my favorite romantic spot.
Almost missed the exit to the restaurant. Valet parking (sign when left said $5 including tip). Nice feature if the weather is bad but should be optional.
Reservation honored . Pleasant hostess. Modern "steakhouse" atmosphere. Competent waiter.
Menu has something for everyone.
We split tuna tartar fresh nicely seasoned. Asked for wasabi.
Entrees: house salad with 5 JUMBO shrimp. Short ribs with mushroom risotto.
Shrimp were truly giant and delicious. Better than at most high end national steakhouses.
Short ribs were not fatty, as good as I've had anywhere, rich flavor. Risotto also very well done & rich flavor. Side of roasted mushrooms seasoned & cooked right.
Guinness draft a little on the warm side. No dessert or coffee.
Will try a steak the next time business takes me to the Edison area.
Very enjoyable evening.
