Wait staff made us feel welcomed.
As a repeat diner at Chouquet's the food and service have always been excellent. I've memorized the menu, however, and while I have my favorites I would welcome some new additions to both the appetizers and main courses. 50% of wine on Monday nights is always a draw.
Recently ate Sunday brunch here. The menu is good and varied. Food quality was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. Would highly recommended
worst croque monsieur ever - just toast with melted cheese no substance and expensive
Seldom we risk trying a different dinning establishment as local diners, and come away satisfied with every dish and service. This was the case with Chouquet's. The salad, the bread, the wine and beer selections, the main dishes, and the desserts were all delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs during the entire meal. The only suggestion I would have for the business is to improve the ambiance for evening diners— i.e., lighting, seats, table decor, etc.
We were seated quickly on Easter Sunday for brunch. Nice and friendly wait staff. I had the Croque Madame and it was delicious. The ham was hidden under the melted cheese on a piece of sourdough bread, egg on top. Super tasty. And some of the best french fries. Second time here and will definitely return.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner the night we spent in San Francisco. They offer delicious good old fashioned French cuisine. I had the Coq au Von and my husband had the Beef bourguignon. Yum! Wine selection very good also. Service was friendly and efficient. The ambiance is relaxed and low keyed. Everyone there seemed to enjoy themselves. We will return!
A very enjoyable place on a weekday for dinner after 7. It is very reminiscent of a French Brasserie very nice people who greet you and the service was excellent as was the food.
Food is consistently excellent. Great French "comfort food." Wonderful neighborhood gem.
We used to live in the neighborhood, and frequently would take our dog on Sundays and sit outside for a wonderful brunch. On this occasion we were planning on attending a museum exhibition so decided to go to our old stomping grounds for lunch and were not disappointed. I had the steak frites and my wife had the mussels, and we shared a half bottle of chateau neuf de pape (very tasty) and we shared a tarte tatin for dessert. The food was as good as we remembered and we also enjoyed a lively conversation with our very accommodating and personal server. A great neighborhood bistro.
The beef stew was too salty. Their online menu showed scallops. Our waiter said they no longer serve it. We should have gone somewhere else.
Food was very good and the servers were friendly and helpful. However, even though the restaurant was only half full, the voices of people carried. We were with two people, one of whom had his hearing aids in, but he could not hear us at the table because people talking two and three tables away had voices that dominated our conversations. Some accoustic tiles in the ceiling would help.
Tuesday dinner after the movies, high expectations for this little French bistro in Pacific Heights - and it was even better than we thought it would be. Salad that tasted like real lettuce, not overwhelmed by the excellent dressing. Wonderful roast chicken in a rich dark sauce with perfectly cooked green beans. Friendly prompt service - casually perfect.
Thank you for being warm and welcoming for our group. It was much appreciated thathe the staff was so kind!
Food was memorable and delicious! Well worth it! Wonderful experience. Thank you!
This is my new favorite French restaurant in SF. Not too stuffy. Fresh menu and pleasant staff.
Their rack of lamb, on their regular menu, is absolutely to die for. I had it the previous time and loved it so much, I couldn't go any farther down the menu when I saw it again. It was just as good the second time. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly!
Ive eaten here a few times and am usually please but on this occassion I was disappointed. The service was very slow . They seemed to be very understaffed. We sat for almost 10 minutes before getting menus. My Mom ordered a mimosa but our server clearly forgot to put the order in and it didn't come until I asked the other server about it. Mom enjoyed her quiche. I had the Nicoise salad which was very light on the dressing and flavor. The seared tuna it was topped with had a strong fishy taste that I could not eat.
Good food, cute place. The man who whisked plates in and out slammed things down in a super jarring way. Not sure why he was doing that. Otherwise service was good. It’s french so we had to ask for the check. I forget that sometimes!
Mixed bag. Starter (tuna poke) was great, but the main (roast chicken) was awful. Attentive service with a free top off on my glass of wine.
This restaurant is very special. Everyone in our party thought the dishes they ordered were outstanding. Service is attentive without being intrusive. The French have a certain flair.
good service, good food. Enjoyed the duck confit and the rack of lamb. very cozy place for good conversation on mid-week nights.
The French Onion soup was everything!
No special menu for the SF week unlike other restaurants.
Good service, food needed a modest punch up to get a better rating
Excellent French onion soup and very good hamburgers . Overall good menu selections and value.
Great service and wonderful food!
We went during restaurant week and the special prices were a bargain. It is a casual place with indoor and outdoor seating (in the sun). The food (French) was quite wonderful.
We had the nicest dinner on a Tuesday night. Delightfully surprised by the dollar oysters that were really, really nice. Great by-the-glass wine list for a weeknight. The trout salad is to die for.
Simple, cheery atmosphere, delicious food, outdoor dining, quaint neighborhood
Slow service. Cold overcooked food.
Love the location and the food was nice. Service stood out as exceptional and exceeded the food and ambiance which made it nice. Overall I like this place for a simple brunch menu and the quality of the brunch cocktails!
Service was fantastic. Felt like I was in Paris!!!
We sat inside for brunch. It was really noisy with screaming babies. Clearly, not the restaurant or staff fault. I would recommend outdoor seating.
Fabulous and friendly service :) The food was delicious and variety - wonderful!
Nine of us went for a family brunch New Year's day, ages ranging from 3 to 80, and there was something for everyone on the menu, all delicious, and excellent, attentive and friendly service.
It was a last minute reservation on Christmas Eve. The experience was just “ok” for what we paid.
The server was very accommodating seating us outside at a sunny table waiting for guest to arrive. We ordered a glass of wine while we waited. When our guest arrived, the server checked to see if we were happy with our table or if we would prefer to sit inside. She then moved us inside at our guest’s request. All this was done smoothly and professionally making for a delightful Sunday brunch.
A ral neighborhood gem with very pleasant and attentive staff. Food is excellent. Good value for money.
