We had a very enjoyable dinner at Chouquet’s. This is definitely a neighborhood place and we were the only tourists. Food and service was very authentic: mussels and escargot for appetizers were lovely although escargot could have been hotter. Mains of steak frites, beef borgounoin, and the duck all were great. Desserts were lovely too. Recommend for a family dinner and for tourists looking to get out into the neighborhoods.
A little bit of Paris on Fillmore Street. Staff was very attentive. We ate indoors since it was chilly outside,
but the views of the Dames of Pac Heights walking by the picture windows brought back memories of dining on Rue Saint-Honore near the Vendome. Food was very nice.
omelette came almost room temp - eggs just aren't good cold.
Such a great neighborhood or destination spot. Whenever we’re craving French food (which happens a lot) we go to Chouquet’s and aren’t disappointed.
The mussels were excellent and so was the wine. The sole dinner was terrible!! I couldn’t eat much of it. The fish and the vegetables were over cooked and it was soupy. Not at all appetizing.
Love coming to this neighborhood gem!
The food and service are always exceptional! Pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.
For over a year we have been going to Chouquet's several times a month for Sunday brunch. In all that tome we have been disappointed only once! And that was when the regular serving staff, who are excellent in all aspects of the job, were not there and were replaced by a couple of duds. I recommend Chouquet's for a great casual Sunday brunch without reservation!!
Excellent atmosphere! Solid place, very good food, great date soace
The chairs are a bit uncomfortable for me. I use a back cushion, and it kept falling through the back of the chair.
All else is fine.
We always enjoy a visit to you !!
Thank You for your hard work to make a lovely experience !!
Great Trout Salad...
Tasty/ decently priced wines!
Main courses all tasty!
What’s not to like? I’m surprised it’s not slammed..
Simple good French basics
- We live close by so have come 5 times before I wrote this. We try to support local businesses... While most dishes are consistently good, the service is highly inconsistent and often inattentive.
- Last visit we arrived w/a a res. yet no one would even make eye contact or welcome us. A simple “welcome to Chouquet’s, someone will be with you shortly,” would have sufficed. I’ve experienced this more than once. Another time they were very attentive. Really not sure how this place has survived.
i love the salade nicoise and the outdoor seating if weather permits.
Consistently great French brasserie. Only ruined by young women how don’t know how to use their indoor voices when drinking.
We always enjoy Chouquet, it's our favorite after movie dinner. The service is great and the food is also; no question, we'll be back.
Wanted to eat here for a while. The food was quite good. We ate early on a Monday night so the place was fairly empty and quiet. That said, the service was friendly, the Boef Bourgogne delightfully moist, the desserts good. All and all, a really good bistro meal.
Good food but
We are a frequent Sunday brunch patron at Chouquet's. Last Sunday, Feb 24, our usual servers were not there. Their substitutes were very poor, indifferent and inattentive. Goes to prove how staff can make or break a restaurant.
Both food and service are good but not great. Tables are too close to each other, impossible to have a private conversation.
Food was good. But the wine by the glass was an under-pour. I think the standard is five glasses per bottle? The restaurant was trying to get eight. At the end of the meal, after I'd paid the check, I pointed the stingy pour out to the waitress. She said it was the owner's policy. For a $14 glass of wine, it left me with a bad feeling, even though we had a good dinner.
This was the perfect local neighborhood spot to enjoy before heading the symphony. The butternut squash ravioli was perfect!
Some of the best beef Bourgogne and perfect filet I have had. Service was friendly and efficient.
Smoked Trout salad is really good. Everything else is good too, but get the smoked trout salad.
Delicious food, kind and helpful staff, great experience. The tables for 2 are small and close together, but we were given a nice spot and we really appreciated that.
Mostly reflective surfaces, so it gets quite noisy, but the liveliness is enjoyable, as is the decor.
The food was very good, and so was the service. The only problem for us was the noise.
Excellent French food for the price, good service too.
Forced us to sit in the patio, even with empty, open tables in the restaurant. Said our open table reservation wasn’t the same as a “real” reservation.
We booked lunch for restaurant week only to find out that weekend was excluded from restaurant week deals. Stayed there anyway. Small, nothing special inside. Food was good, large portions and tasty. Coffee was tiny. Impossible to find parking . So, if you already parked and want good food, go there. However, I wouldn’t drive specifically just for this place.
No BS. Just sincere service and terrific food. Great vibes. Go. Enjoy! I’ll be back. I hope I can still get a res./JPMD, Philly
Good restaurant for a casual dinner. Great value, great location.
Everything about our experience was superb. The staff, food and service were outstanding. I had their filet and it was absolutely delicious. Not to mention they have my very favorite bubbly on their wine list! I I am looking forward to a return trip!
We were getting together to celebrate my birthday but never really told our server, however at the end of our meal she brought us 2 glasses of champagne.
I had tuna tartar and it was presented in a very unusual way with frisée and shoestring potatoes-fabulous. My friend had the nicoisse and it was wonderful as well,
Servers were very attentive but not overly solicitous.
It was s very nice experience/I’ll put it on my Regular List!
Good diverse menu. High quality food with wonderful friendly service. A gem of a neighborhood place to go.
Great brunch, warm and welcoming staff and excellent service. What more can you ask for! Can't wait to go back for dinner -- my husband's a big fan of beef bourguignon!
This was our second time here. The atmosphere is relaxed while lively, rather than hurried or anemic. Attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Authentic French bistro food and staff. The menu had a good selection of meat, fowl and fish; and veggies were prepared to our liking. My wife ordered sole in lemon buerre sauce, which she enjoyed throughly. My salmon was overwhelmed by the garlicky spinach and sauce though. We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless and will return next time we are in the neighborhood.
Great food, great location and great service.
This restaurant is a great neighborhood find. Excellent French food with a great wine list. Also has outdoor dining.
Nothing fancy about this neighborhood country style French restaurant but the food is consistently good and reasonably priced (by San Francisco standards). Service is friendly and attentive and their wine list, although not large, is rather creative with some interesting choices available. Good place to go for a relaxed meal in a quaint setting.
