Chopps American Bar and Grill at Marriott Boston Burlington Ratings and Reviews
The service was spotty. There was a customer within our earshot using very vulgar language that my daughter was concerned about. When our food arrived, two of us had ordered filet mignons, cooked at two different temps. When presented, we asked which was which and the presenters had no idea. Our original server was attentive and pleasant
Chopps is a favorite go-to place for a great meal (always innovative options to choose from), moderate noise level and great place to have a conversation. This time we went for Thanksgiving dinner, which was excellent. The dining room was full to overflowing, and still we could easily converse. Chopps has added an expanded, excellent wine list to the already terrific dining options. We'll be back and continue to bring friends.
First time having Thanksgiving out and it was great. Half had the Turkey others ordered off the menu! Everything cooked to perfection!! The room we were placed was cozy yet spacious between tables. We all gave this a 2 thumbs up and Thanked the cooks, waitress and staff for a job well done!!
Entree great, most of my party had the Delmonico steak and were very happy. The asparagus on the other hand was not so great, some stalks were limp others tough. We all expected better. Desserts were good and big enough to be shared. Our waiter Eddie was efficient and professional. He was there when we needed him but did not hover.
The Tuna tartar appetizer was very tasty but more chips are needed and for my entree I went with the Delmonico steak (since I couldn't part with the $57.00 Rib Eye, my steak of choice) but it was cooked and seasoned very well and delicious.
My biggest surprise and disappointment was the unexpected very loud 80's music- Beatie Boys 80's not the good 80's DJ music right outside the dinning room in the bar - made the enjoyable after dinner drink and conversation less so.
The menu is fairly small and hasn't changed notably in the past year. While the steaks and a variety of sauces are very well done, and the kitchen does a nice job with the scallops and salmon, the spiciness of the LOBSTER NERO FETTUCCINI overwhelms the lobster, and the JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES are overly bready. The Calamari and Lamb Lollichopps are excellent apps, but even in cold weather season there's only clam chowder (excellent with smokey bacon) and no soup on the menu. The wine list could use a refresh, and the cocktails are good and creative, but the bar frequently gets behind causing dinner service to suffer.
Went for lunch on a weekday. We were greeted and seated immediately, the place only had a couple of other diners at the time. Nice, modern, open space with comfy banquettes and a cozy fireplace. We ordered a their version of a meat lover's pizza as an appetizer, with ground beef, bacon and pepperoni. It was not very good, more like a reheated frozen item from the supermarket. We had burgers for lunch and they were fantastic. Beefy and juicy, cooked to perfection with melted cheddar and bacon. Excellent, crispy thin cut fries. Stay away from the pizza and you will enjoy this place. Service very friendly and prompt. Will go back to try the steaks.
Our waitress was outstanding, prefaced by the waiter who filled our water glasses, both were extremely polite and social.
Our food was brought out timely, and a careful eye was kept on our wine glasses if they appeared to low.
Good atmosphere to catch up with a great friend! We also, after leaving the dining area, had an additional drink in the bar area, where the scene was more vibrant and service was just as good.
We were celebrating our daughter's 30th birthday - her only request was we find an establishment with outdoor dining so we settled on Chopps. Located in the Burlington Marriott, Chopps recently added a patio area which overlooks the pool below. We found the seating area very pleasant, despite nearby RT 128, which was shrouded from view by a strand of trees. Chopps is a steakhouse so we stayed with the specialty and ordered a variety of steaks. Mine was a Delmonico, cooked W/D as requested and delicious. One of diners went with the filet, a little undercooked. The staff brought a desert with a candle to honor our daughter's birthday, which was a nice personal touch. Our only complaint was the waitstaff - perhaps they're still getting used to coming-and-going from the new patio area but they seemed a little disjointed and erratic. We had to request bread, which we noted was delivered to other tables immediately after diners sat down. And there were other minor inconsistencies, none which you would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. It wasn't enough to turn us off to Chopps - we will be back again.
Nancy and I went out for our usual date night this past weekend at Chops Bar and Grill.
I had read that the food, more specifically the beef was outstanding so we decided to go in an try it ourselves.
I ordered the Hanger Steak and she the Filet Mignon, for sides we chose asparagus, Mashed Potato's and Mac and Cheese.
All I can say is the beef was as good as the reviews I read and the sides were equally super.
The meat was cooked flawlessly and all the sides were hot and tasty.
If you want a great steak, you'd be hard pressed to not try this place, service was excellent, a manager went about making sire everyone was happy with their meal and in all I'd rate this as a regular stop for us if we wish to have beef.
Was expecting a bit more from a Marriott hotel-based restaurant, but Chopps didn't deliver. Waited 5 minutes at the host stand before a bartender finally came over to find out what we needed (no host/hostess in sight when we left either). The restaurant was 95% empty yet they seated us (a couple) next to a large party with loud kids in a small room. Really, you couldn't give us a table just outside of the room so that we didn't feel like we were crashing this family's dinner? Moving to the food, disappointments all around here as well. My crab cakes were cold in the middle and barely cooked, which meant that I didn't even finish them. The waiter came to check on our food the second it was brought out and we hadn't even taken a bite so there was no way to tell him the crab cakes were undercooked since he never reappeared until too late. My husband ordered a steak and said it was fine but the dish was ruined by the soggy, limp asparagus. The Chopps tots were a big disappointment as well as they seem to simply be double -fried lumps of mashed potato. We didn't bother to stay for dessert. Not going back.
My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant because I had a gift card. We ordered a lot of different things from drinks, to apps, dinner, and dessert since we had a decent amount of money to spend on the dining card we got.
Our drinks were good, however, were not included in our dining card so we had to pay for them. We did know this before ordering. We noticed that the price on the menu however was less than what they charged us on the bill.
Our apps were decent - we had a chowder & shrimp and scallops. Nothing stood out - very plain.
Dinner I had the chicken which looked great, but didn't taste as good. My boyfriend got a steak with a lobster tail. It looked amazing, but was really dry and tough to eat. It came with whipped potatoes which tasted like they came from a box.
The best part of our meal was the rice pudding brulee which was really good. Our waitress was extremely nice, but service was slow and it shouldn't have been since there were very few dining guests.
I didn't care much for the ambience either. I definitely felt like I was eating in a hotel.
We had a lot of leftovers since we had ordered a lot. We tried to heat them up the next day and it tasted like someone squeezed lemons all over the food before packing it. We had to throw out all of our leftovers.
My husband & I have dined here numerous times. The food, while a bit pricey but fair for the excellent quality, is some of the best in the area. The warm, dill rolls are a nice starting point. The vegetable chopped salad is one of the best I've ever had. The skirt steak is juicy and tasty, as are most of their steaks. The crab cakes are loaded with crab and void of 'fillers'. You can't go wrong with any of the appetizers or sides. The wine list is extensive and the waiters are well versed in helping you make a good pairing selection. The restaurant manager, Kevin, is the best! He's extremely personable and he goes out of his way to ensue that each and every patron/customer is happy.
Our dining experience this particular evening was rated poor in service/overall because the restaurant (which we learned later) was short staffed and we had to wait an unusually long time to be recognized, let alone served. But we chalk this up to an isolated incident and will not allow it to deter us from returning.
My husband and I enjoyed antibiotic and hormone - free beef at Chopps American Bar and Grill. He chose a 10 oz. skirt steak with whipped potato while I chose a 10 oz. hanger steak served with ginger soy sauce and whipped potato. We split a plate of asparagus. Both steaks were cooked medium rare as requested. It was nice to order a great steak meal that included beef, potato and a sauce.
Chopps is a regular dining spot for us -- we visit a few times a month -- and the food and service is generally very good. On this occasion we tried the new outdoor dining patio and had a new waitress and the experience was unusually poor. We'll be back, but we hope they have things straightened out by then.
The server did not do her job. A beer was ordered and although she told us it was ready it still took 10 minutes to get to the table. We asked for bread and were told the server would bring it. Instead it was delivered 5 minutes later....but we had to ask, and it was not warm. The wrong side dish came out with one of the meals, but this was quickly fixed by the expediter. I thought I was told dessert would be free b/c it was a birthday but we were charged for it. The food was delicious but I would not go back nor recommend it to anyone.
