My girlfriend and I wanted a nice dinner out and Chopps was a great find. We asked for a got a nice quiet table, the cocktails were delicious (the bartender was very accommodating), the food was phenomenal (especially the Lamb chop appetizer), and our waiter, Evangelos, was top-notch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My wife and I went to Chopps to celebrate our five month anniversary and the staff set us up at a table in a private area which I had requested.
We usually go here when we want great beef and this place never disappoints.
To begin we had an order of the Calamari which was quite excellent. It had a light batter and included battered cherry peppers as well.
We then ordered our main courses, I had my usual Skirt Steak with Mac and Cheese and my wife ordered the Pork Loin with vegetables.
Both dishes were excellent, meat cooked to perfection, sides were hot and perfectly prepared and we really enjoyed the meal and the evening.
I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone for just a casual meal or a special occasion and if you like meat, this is the place. Chopps buys the best grass fed meats and know how to prepare them to perfection. Couple this with the fact that they are quite a bargain for the quality they present. AAA+
Went during Restaurant Week and ended up ordering off the regular menu. Service was outstanding. One meal, the pork chop, was excellent. My meal, the scallops were ok. Pricing was very expensive for the quality and prep of the meal. It was suggested by our waiter that the beef was the best thing on the menu. Wish I had taken his advice.
I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant, thinking that it would be the typical hotel dining experience (i.e., less than stellar) and overly busy on a Saturday night with parties. However we found it a lovely experience. The dining room wasn't overly crowded and we were seated with a lovely view of the outdoor balcony where you could enjoy both food and drinks. The noise level was quiet so having a conversation at normal speaking volume was quite welcome. Our waiter, Michael V. was attentive without being overbearing. The calamari appetizer was fried nice & crispy, tender inside and not at all rubbery with a spicy dipping sauce as a nice change from the usual marinara. The freshly baked rosemary rolls were hot & fluffy. We recommend both the roast chicken and the filet mignon which were cooked perfectly and were both very tender and tasty. We highly recommend the baked brussel sprouts too; great toasted taste with crispy bacon and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. My mother-in-law was in heaven with the crème brulee whose top was caramelized perfectly. It's likely that the weekday dining might be busier with a business crowd, but our experience with Saturday night was quite nice and we would recommend this for a very nice dinner out. Prices are moderate but well worth the excellent service and quality of food.
Let's start with the good: the atmosphere was lovely, somewhat dim lighting that was perfect for a date, with beautiful place settings and comfortable seating. And that is the extent of what was good about this place.
To start with, we sat down and were left without water or seeing a server for about 15 minutes. When the server did come over, we knew what we wanted to order, and she requested a minute to take away the extra place settings. That wasn't a big deal, so we waited for her to come back to take our order. That took another 35 minutes.
We got a bowl of clam chowder to split while we waited for food- the potatoes were so undercooked they crunched like carrots when we bit into them. The food took about 25 minutes to come out- not terribly slow, but not fast either, and by that point we were famished. The burger was decent, although certainly not worth the $18 price tag. The chicken, however, was overcooked and dry. The sauce was tasty, but it congealed at the bottom of the plate, and the fingerling potatoes were flavorless. And the broccolini was so difficult to chew that I ended up spitting it out because my jaw hurt.
It's a shame because this place is close to home and very nice to look at, but we will literally never return. Totally not worth the price tag, and terrible service on a night that wasn't even busy.
I have to start off by saying I have never written a bad review, which makes what I am about to say so bad. The food was great and the service was fine until a large party showed up. I was also rather bothered that the food was not cheap and it felt like they charged for every little thing. When the large party showed up our server then forgot about us. It appeared management noticed and then checked on us but by that time I was already frustrated. The bad part is the large table was right next to us. All our server had to do was turn to the side and ask how we were doing. I looked up the food online and was looking forward to ordering desert. I changed my mind and it didn't help that they didn't even bother to ask if I wanted desert. That has never happen to me before!
Nice menu and a very nice wine list. We had salads then steak and salmon and the dishes had nice flavors. The blue cheese dressing on my salad needed more blue cheese flavor, but that's just me. Portions were generous and therefore a good value. Everything was prepared to our liking.
The only distraction was our server: I'm sorry, but he talked too much, thought he was very funny and was altogether too familiar.
Great evening. Our server, "V", started the evening just right. Knew the menu and bar fully, and made great suggestions. We shared two starters; Tuna Tartare and the Burratta Salad. Both were very tasty, fresh and perfectly sized to share. We then had the Swordfish and T-Bone steak entres respectively. Both were done as requested and super fresh. We also subbed the mashed potatoes for their garlic Parmesan fries; super flavorful. Finished the nite with desert of fresh gelato. Excellent food and service. We will be back again!
Not that impressed. We made a reservation, but there was not many people there when we arrived. We were seated right away, but it took a while for our waiter to come over. We ordered cappuccino, and they came about 15 minutes later, and then our waiter was nowhere to be found for quite some time. He was pleasant, and knowledgeable, but just took forever to get back to our table. There seemed to be a lot of staff hovering around, but not doing much. The food was good, but I've had better meals at a lower cost. It was average, but a little pricey for the food, and service. Glad we tired it, but we won't be going back.
Went in for Dine out Boston. Right away the waiter was trying to quell the expectations for the Dine out menu, I'm guessing they have had complaints on the size of the portions as they were small. The food was good (dessert was too sweet for me) and as i said the portions were small. but the real "complaint' would be the service was sooooo slooooow. for the 3 courses it took 2 hours. and the place was still half empty. When you only get a small portion its a lot of time to keep you sitting there and waiting. Make sure you go with someone who can keep up the conversation. I've gone to LaAndana several times. I wish i had gone again.
Perhaps a little too expensive for the quality, but the service was great and it was a friendly atmosphere. I very much appreciated that the meat all came from sustainable sources (which I do understand accounts for some of the $$$). I would not recommend this for vegetarians as there are very few meat-less options.
I have been to Chopps previously. This is a wonderful restaurant with great service. Lisa, the server is the best anyone could have. She is the ultimate professional. Gracious, energetic and incredibly knowledgeable of the products and the farm to table and local food scene in Massachusetts and beyond.
Good food, service was terrible. We waited 30 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge that we had been seated and bring water. He apologized for the confusion but then disappeared for another 15 minutes. It went downhill from there. The food came out cold and they said sorry we're busy tonight. Spent $200 that was much better spent elsewhere.
Extremely slow service. Took forever just to order a drink. Drink was then not delivered in a timely fashion. Appetizer delivered cold. Waiter too hurried. Noticeably running around as if he were constantly behind. Long time between appetizers and main meal.
I would definitely recommend Chopps American Bar and Grill restaurant to anyone who has not tried it yet. Although some of the entrees are higher in price, the food and experience is well worth it. This is the best Open Table restaurant we have been to! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She gave us great service. The clam chowder was delicious and unique. Filet mignon was excellent- grilled and very tender with several choices of sauce to have on the side. Desserts were also worth trying. Cheesecake with boysenberry sauce and pumpkin hazelnut creme brûlée were delicious. Atmosphere is casual in the lounge area with modern decor.
