Chop Steakhouse & Bar - West Edmonton - Stony Plain Road Ratings and Reviews
This is a steakhouse, yet the steak was done terribly! Husband ordered medium rare, it came out medium well, more on the well done side. It took a long time for the server to come over and check on us (I was done eating by this point), they re-did his steak finally, and it came out rare. He ate it anyway. I had the ravioli and it was okay, but it only had 7 pieces of ravioli as the whole dish. Expensive restaurant and definitely not fine dining or worth it.
Chop is a great place to meet friends for dinner. This experience was mDe even better by our server Riley. He was very attentive and very friendly. We brought fruends with us that had never been before and they quite enjoyed themselves. Thank you for a great dining experience.
This was our first time here. The service was stellar.
We were seated by the door and when asked to be moved to a warmer spot (it was -32 out), the manager came over and gave us 3 different seating options.
Once seated and ordered, the manager again came by to check up on our satisfaction.
My steak wasn't prepared to my preference and immediately the server took it back. I never asked for it, she just went above and beyond. The manager returned once again, extremely apologetic and gave me a free Ceasar salad to eat while waiting for my new steak and trimmings. I only asked for the meat as I was already getting full. He was persistent that I received a whole new plate. Once he realized that I truly only wanted the meat he returned with my steak a la carte.
When we went to pay, it was discovered that not only did I receive a complimentary salad, but I also received my meal on the house plus a dessert!
The quality of the food was not comparable to our usual steak house (Keg) but the service was outstanding.
It left us Truong hard to decide...better tasting food or excellent service?, For our next steak meal. We both agreed we would much rather have the high class service over quality of food.
It was our server and the manager that assisted with making our meal and evening that much more enjoyable.
We will definitely be returning there, who knows, maybe their other food menu items would be more suited to our palates?
Yes, go and try Chop. Top notch
We arrived on time and there was some confusion with our reservation but they were able to get us in right away. The service was great off the start until we got our appetizers. After that the service was slim to none. We sat at our table for at least 25 minutes with nothing but dirty plates and glasses. We were hoping to order dessert and another round of drinks but decided against it as it probably would've taken too long. We waited about 10 minutes for our server to take our payment until we decided to just drop the bill fold with the cash off at the front door with the hostess. The service was very sub par, not impressed for trying to have a good experience for New Year's Eve.
Delicious food, and amazing service. The waitress was very friendly and funny, ordered prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. We went for New Years Eve dinner, had no problem making a reservation, left full, and they also gave us a free Polaroid picture to remember the occasion. Will definately be going back.
A few mistakes were made with the order as well as an item on the menu wasn’t available that we found out after it was ordered. But how everything was handled was terrific. Ryan the manager made all necessary corrections and took care of it all way above our expectations. We left the restaurant extremely happy and we will definitely be back soon. Thanks Ryan!!
It was our first time to dine here and we really had a fabulous dinner. We were a group of 6 with 2 kids and my kid enjoyed his choice of kids meal.. We ordered our drinks first and some appetizers. The appetizers came late which we really dont mind as we we’re busy chatting up but the manager said he would take care of it. It just means that they really care for their customers which was of course very commendable.. The food was great, I had the prime rib and it was so yummy!!😋 I would for sure come back here!!
Had a reservation at 730 and was seated right away. Took the waitress 15 to finally come take our drink order. We order appetizers and our meal. About 45 min later some bread came, then our appetizer which were delicious. Another 45 we asked the waitress about our food and was told there was a huge table ahead of us which is fine, but should have been told to us. We had the manger come over and buy our drinks and another 10 min we got our food. I ordered prime rib which was a little thicker than a McDonald’s beef patty and tasted about the same. We were there 2 hours, late for another function afterwards and the food was not good. Never going back again
We attended Chop for the first time in late November 2017 to celebrate a birthday. We had an enjoyable evening however it was much more casual than we had anticipated for a steakhouse. Our food was tasty and there was a large drink menu to compliment our meals. We both left a little underwhelmed but nothing specifically went wrong during our time at the restaurant.
My only negative comment is that we were a group of 6 for our Corporate Christmas Dinner, we are all close to 6 feet or more tall and we were put into a booth which was "very" uncomfortable with no body/arm space, as well with the amount of food we eat the table was way to small to hold everything without having to more food around constantly.
Dined on a Saturday night with friends from out of the province. We had not been to the Chop before so we thought it would be something different.
Service was not great as the salad had nuts which one of us was allergic and they replaced it but took 15 minutes. then when our meals came the same person in our group received the wrong potato., took another 10 minutes to get her meal.
overall we found the food very mediocore and the steaks were a bit tough, overpriced for the quality of meal and service we received.
This is a great place for steaks and there are many interesting and delightful side dishes to try.
Desserts were ok but not as much of an event as the main course.
Relative to other Chop experiences, this one was a bit crowded and energetic making conversations a bit tough to enjoy.
The steaks make the place worth a trip.
Too expensive for the food that was served to us. We could have gone somewhere with better food for a much cheaper price. My steak was delicious medium rare, my husband ordered medium rare and his steak was still very raw, red and slimey in the middle. The sauteed mushrooms I ordered as a side tasted awful as well. Will not to go there again.
This was our first time ever at Chop and we went for our anniversary. The atmosphere was great and the only downside was my husband's meal as his steak (bone in rib-eye) was full of grizzle. Other than that everything tasted great and we were surprised by a happy anniversary card from the staff. We will most definitely return.
Food and atmosphere were great, but the heat needs to be turned up. My boyfriend and I were cold our entire meal and had our jackets wrapped around our back. Also very inconvenient for men to have to go to denny’s For the washroom, but I understand this was due to renovations. Our waitress was very good. Attentive, but not Intrusive.
Nancy and I celebrated our 45 Anniversary at Chop. The food was outstanding although my rib eye was more like well done than med rare. Still juicy and delicious. I mentioned it to the supervisor not as complaint but as a note to the chef. She, after I refused a refund on the meal, came back with a decorated plate of chocolate cheese cake with strawberries and champagne. It was totally unexpected and unnecessary but a wonderful surprise.
As always we will be back.
This was my first visit to chop as my wife had always discourage going because of friends sharing their experiences and disappointments. I recently became re acquainted with my 28 yr old daughter and she loves steak as I do. I am a frequent dinner at the Keg but looked at this as an opportunity to try Chop. We both had sirloin tip meal and For a steak spot I was very disappointed. Sometime little is more. A steak is either great or not. A 30 dollar steak should always be great. It was cut 1/2 inch thick at one end and 1 inch at another. Was suppose to be medium but naturally was well done on the thin end and medium for the last 2 bites.,I am not one to complain but I was very disappointed in the meal. Big menu with all kinds of things but galled to deliver on the most important item on the plate
