Chop Steakhouse & Bar - West Edmonton - Stony Plain Road Ratings and Reviews
It was our first time to dine here and we really had a fabulous dinner. We were a group of 6 with 2 kids and my kid enjoyed his choice of kids meal.. We ordered our drinks first and some appetizers. The appetizers came late which we really dont mind as we we’re busy chatting up but the manager said he would take care of it. It just means that they really care for their customers which was of course very commendable.. The food was great, I had the prime rib and it was so yummy!!😋 I would for sure come back here!!
Had a reservation at 730 and was seated right away. Took the waitress 15 to finally come take our drink order. We order appetizers and our meal. About 45 min later some bread came, then our appetizer which were delicious. Another 45 we asked the waitress about our food and was told there was a huge table ahead of us which is fine, but should have been told to us. We had the manger come over and buy our drinks and another 10 min we got our food. I ordered prime rib which was a little thicker than a McDonald’s beef patty and tasted about the same. We were there 2 hours, late for another function afterwards and the food was not good. Never going back again
We attended Chop for the first time in late November 2017 to celebrate a birthday. We had an enjoyable evening however it was much more casual than we had anticipated for a steakhouse. Our food was tasty and there was a large drink menu to compliment our meals. We both left a little underwhelmed but nothing specifically went wrong during our time at the restaurant.
My only negative comment is that we were a group of 6 for our Corporate Christmas Dinner, we are all close to 6 feet or more tall and we were put into a booth which was "very" uncomfortable with no body/arm space, as well with the amount of food we eat the table was way to small to hold everything without having to more food around constantly.
Dined on a Saturday night with friends from out of the province. We had not been to the Chop before so we thought it would be something different.
Service was not great as the salad had nuts which one of us was allergic and they replaced it but took 15 minutes. then when our meals came the same person in our group received the wrong potato., took another 10 minutes to get her meal.
overall we found the food very mediocore and the steaks were a bit tough, overpriced for the quality of meal and service we received.
This is a great place for steaks and there are many interesting and delightful side dishes to try.
Desserts were ok but not as much of an event as the main course.
Relative to other Chop experiences, this one was a bit crowded and energetic making conversations a bit tough to enjoy.
The steaks make the place worth a trip.
Too expensive for the food that was served to us. We could have gone somewhere with better food for a much cheaper price. My steak was delicious medium rare, my husband ordered medium rare and his steak was still very raw, red and slimey in the middle. The sauteed mushrooms I ordered as a side tasted awful as well. Will not to go there again.
This was our first time ever at Chop and we went for our anniversary. The atmosphere was great and the only downside was my husband's meal as his steak (bone in rib-eye) was full of grizzle. Other than that everything tasted great and we were surprised by a happy anniversary card from the staff. We will most definitely return.
Food and atmosphere were great, but the heat needs to be turned up. My boyfriend and I were cold our entire meal and had our jackets wrapped around our back. Also very inconvenient for men to have to go to denny’s For the washroom, but I understand this was due to renovations. Our waitress was very good. Attentive, but not Intrusive.
Nancy and I celebrated our 45 Anniversary at Chop. The food was outstanding although my rib eye was more like well done than med rare. Still juicy and delicious. I mentioned it to the supervisor not as complaint but as a note to the chef. She, after I refused a refund on the meal, came back with a decorated plate of chocolate cheese cake with strawberries and champagne. It was totally unexpected and unnecessary but a wonderful surprise.
As always we will be back.
This was my first visit to chop as my wife had always discourage going because of friends sharing their experiences and disappointments. I recently became re acquainted with my 28 yr old daughter and she loves steak as I do. I am a frequent dinner at the Keg but looked at this as an opportunity to try Chop. We both had sirloin tip meal and For a steak spot I was very disappointed. Sometime little is more. A steak is either great or not. A 30 dollar steak should always be great. It was cut 1/2 inch thick at one end and 1 inch at another. Was suppose to be medium but naturally was well done on the thin end and medium for the last 2 bites.,I am not one to complain but I was very disappointed in the meal. Big menu with all kinds of things but galled to deliver on the most important item on the plate
Went in Thursday night to celebrate my birthday (a week late). Our server was fantastic, knowledgeable and helpful and I do apologize for not remembering your name. THIS PLACE IS TODDLER FRIENDLY!!!! My son was not treated like a burden or an annoyance and well taken care of (thank you ❤️). The food was exceptional, cooked perfectly, perfect sizes and full of flavour. I was very appreciative for the free desert for my husband and I to share and the signed birthday card was a sweet touch. I am not too picky with wine but I really appreciated the opportunity to sample two wines and decide which I preferred.
I would recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be back. Thank you!
We enjoyed our dinner at Chop. There was seven adults and one child. We were celebrating our son's birthday. The service was excellent along with the food. We really liked the setting too as we were at a round table so we could all visit. Also our son with the birthday received a coupon for an appetizer for his next visit as we were unable to stay for his free birthday dessert! Thank you Chop!
I enjoyed the food but my steak was undercooked. Went back 2 times, 3rd time they brought me a new steak. Worked really hard to keep me happy...I was not upset, just wanted my steak right. Ended up taking home the second steak. What I did eat was very good.
I celebrated my 40th birthday at CHOP Edmonton West and was pleasantly surprised. This was our first time at a CHOP restaurant but certainly won't be our last. Furthermore, they went out of their way to help me celebrate my birthday from a complementary dessert to a birthday card signed by all the staff (which also included a coupon for a free appetizer on our next visit). Beyond the service, the food was outstanding. I had the prime rib and it was perfectly seasoned and so tender it literally melted in my mouth. The side dishes and our crab cake appy was equally delicious.
Hi. I have to say our server was fabulous. She could have done with a little help as it got busier.i explained my food allergy and she was fantastic. My issue was with the food itself. I ordered the filet with lobster. You almost needed a magnifying glass to find the meat they were that tiny. Also i had asked for it med rare it came at least med well. Disappointing.
My husband and I went with two friends, one of which was celebrating his birthday. The evening was very enjoyable for all of us. It was especially nice to be able to have a conversation without having to raise our voices, we wish more restaurants were the same. The service was very good and the food was delicious. We have all decided we will definitely go again. Our waitress told us they will be undergoing major renovations starting in August, it will be interesting to see what transpires! This was our first time trying this restaurant and we will definitely recommend it.
I really liked my experience. The staff was classy and very great with customer service. The ambiance was excellent for a casual date or a romantic occasion. I don't think I'd take my kids there just because it's a nice place to take my wife out on a date. At a reasonable price it's hard to find that type of facility.
My meal was very delicious. My wife though, had the prime rib and it was pretty dry. Great flavour but dry. The manager was very genourous in apologizing for the overcooked meat and offered way more compensation than was needed. All in all the situation was handled really well and professionally by both the manager and the waiting staff.
