   My wife and I had been loyal Chop customers for many years, always looking forward to great steaks, appetizers, and service. Our last visit there on May 3, 2025 can only be described as a disaster. To begin, our Caesar salads were mediocre at best. The Chop used to have a great Caesar salad. My wife ordered filet and lobster tail, and a loaded baked potato.. When her entree arrived, there was no lobster tail, but there was mashed potatoes, and very salty at that. I ordered the bone-in side ribs. What arrived was inedible. Instead of the meat falling off the bone, as it should in a properly prepared side rib, this was was stringy, difficult to cut, and tasteless. The manager, who didn't seem particularly concerned with the issue, offered to bring a replacement entree. I chose the Pistachio crusted cod. The cod arrived, after a lengthy wait. Instead of being pistachio crusted, there was a mixture of crushed pistachio dumped on top of the cod. I'm not a chef, but I know what crusted should mean. It will be some time if we ever return to The Chop again.

   We celebrated my belated 65th birthday. We had steak and lobster which was excellent. Our table service person was also excellent. I forgot how noisy it is in there lol. Not a quiet, intimate dining experience but overall we very much enjoyed our meals and good value for excellent quality upscale meals.

   We started with the beet and goat cheese salad to share, it was fantastic. We both had the top sirloin, 7 and 10 oz. The wild rice pilaf was done perfectly and the steak was just the right amount of pink. Our server was attentive but not overly so. We barely had room for dessert but we had it anyhow and the coffee was phenomenal, strong but not bitter.

   We were looking forward to a nice evening out at Chop restaurant but it was disappointing. We ordered martinis and our drinks came in the smallest martini glass known to mankind. We let that issue go. Our meals came and both of our meals came over cooked-halibut was dry because it was over cooked. My steak was to have been medium and it came out well done no pink at all. The rolled up cutlery in the napkin came without a fork. Overall our evening out was a a disappointment. Will we go back?? Maybe, just to be fair, maybe it was just an off night or maybe not.

   I’ll start end end with he best part. The appetizer was the ‘Chili Garlic Shrimp’. Let me say OMG delicious. Nice heat from the chilis and really well cooked. For desert we had ‘FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE TORTE’. One of the best deserts we have had. Just the right amount of sweetness mixed with the flavour of the amaretto. The entree’s were disappointing. I had the rib steak and she had steak and lobster. The temperatures of the steaks were dead on. The cook know his temps. But there wasn’t a lot of flavour to the steak. The lobster tail was a strange color and quite small. To be honest I had a better steak at lobster at a Roadhouse in steinbach last week. I ate the meal, and it wasn’t horrible or bad enough to send back. But just wasn’t what I expected. But like I said they ended on a high note. I really wished I had tried the Halibut. The service was 5 star for sure. Really nice greeting and attentiveness. They even gave us a tuna tartar as a welcome for our first visit. Would I go back? Yes I would. Just next time I’ll get the Halibut.

    Excellence service and food. Was very quiet, but there were few patrons there. Food came quick, was very good. Service personnel were outstanding, extremely attentive.
