Chop Steakhouse & Bar - Toronto Airport/Hotel District Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated a birthday this past Sunday. I would have given the service 4* but we felt as though ee were rushed out of the restaurant. The server didnt ask us if we wanted any hot beverages or any additional drinks and just brought the bill to us without us even asking for it.
Service was horrible. We were a group of 6 celebrating my birthday. The service was so slow. When the food finally came out all our sides were cold. They had to replace the mash potatoes and sweet potatoe fries. We were not checked on - not even once to see if we were ok or if we needed anything else. Our server went M.I.A. We had to ask other servers who were passing by for refills. And when it came to asking for the cake that we personally brought in to serve, that took a very long time - at least 20 min before they finally brought it out - we ended up asking at least 3 different servers for the cake. And then when we asked for our bill and take out boxes, that took another 25 min. This is the worst service we received ever! Especially for this type of restaurant, you would think the service would be a lot better. Instead of enjoying a birthday celebration, we were left with a very bad taste in our mouth. I don't think we will return back to this restaurant again.
We simply weren’t happy there. We were celebrating an 80th birthday. No mention of it. Waitress was an order taker. Not a waitress. I small loaf for 4 people. Salad had wilted leaves used. No ambience to this restaurant at all. Food just ok. A real disappointment.
Although we enjoyed the experience, my shock that the waitress would first recommend a $190 and then a $185 bottle of wine without qualifying the price when she was casually asked to suggest a bottle has me still upset and the highlight of the meal.
Thankfully we checked the price before we ordered.
Be careful on their upsell tactics!!!
We normally like this restaurant and dine there when we're in the area. Saturday the service was rushed and the food not as good as usual. Our entre was brought before we finished our appetizer. The appetizer plates were left on the table for a bit after we started our main course.
We both had the prime rib and found it stringy and tough.
Very nice ambience, roomy, busy but not overly noisy. Attentive service and excellent food. My friend had the maple bourbon fish and I had soy salmon with wild rice and both were superb. I ended up back at Chop the following night with business colleagues and one woman raved about the same maple bourbon fish. I had the petit filet which was succulent, perfectly cooked to order and covered with a nice layer of blue cheese, served with a side of mushrooms. We were 12 people and everyone agreed his food was excellent. In addition the service was good, very accommodating about 12 separate checks (!), and the price was reasonable considering the quality.
Very good steaks. It is an excellent alternative to The Keg which is always jampacked and very noisy. Same kind of menu in a nicer decor. The server was very nice and some kind of manager went two times to our table to know if everything was ok, which it was.
The meals was served a bit too quickly to our liking and we were out the door before a hour.
Food was very good and the service was good. It did take a little longer than expected for the main course but they were busy and when it arrived it was prepared perfectly. Wine list was not as good as others in the price range and style like the Keg or Baton Rogue.
This was our second visit to Chop Steakhouse. We were again dropping family off at the airport and it is an ideal spot for a meal before a flight. We love the decor, the atmosphere and the wonderful service we received. We highly recommend this spot for a meal, even if you aren't flying anywhere. The food is delicious and everyone in our party was more than happy with their meal. Excellent restaurant.
The food was absolutely awful. My husbands steak was very small, extremely dry and had absolutely no flavor. We had to add salt and pepper to the steak to try and add flavour but it was too dry you could barely swallow it. I had the New York stripe, it tastes great but half of the steak was large chunks of fat. The mashed potatoes were supposed to be infused with wasabi but unfortunately they were tasteless other and had a strong odour of dirty potato.
The service and atmosphere was fine but I would not return even if the steaks were $10.00. Huge disappointment for a night that was suppose to be our a special celebration.
Food was ok not great
I rate 3 1/2 out of 5
When we got our martinis
I was shocked of how little vodka was in the glass
I would suggest raise your drink price and give a decent drink
The waiter said the vodka had one and a half ounces
I doubt it
Service was just ok. We had to ask for our bread , which is complementary. Two of us had steak and shrimp. The steak was tough. Both were under cooked as per preference. This was not our first time and we were quite looking forward to it. Can't say I would rush back.
I'd like to say thank you to the manager and server(Alexis) for our table. We were celebrating our five year anniversary and this location went above and beyond their call of duty. Our steaks were over cooked, and even after we had told Alexis it wasn't a big deal and not to worry about it, she still informed her manager. Her manager was kind enough to offer another meal, to which we declined. He was gracious enough to even offer another meal done up and packed to go for a later meal. As if that wasn't enough we were given complimentary dessert and some champagne to celebrate our five years.
Talk about treating your diners as guests!
I have gone several times to the Chop House and it is usually a good place to go. We went on a Sunday evening at 9pm it wasn't surprising that the place was not very busy. What was surprising was the service and the food. We had to ask 3 times for a glass of water. The french onion soup was so salty I had to send it back and the lobster dip (which is usually very good tasted more like cream cheese and tomatoes. Big disappointment tonight.
Service was slow. Hostess was friendly, wait staff wasn't as friendly. Food was mediocre,I specifically had the prime rib; it was served with gravy which to me made that roast beef. Prime rib is served with au jus. I felt like I went to a buffet and was served the food that I ate at Chop.
