Good service. Comfortable ambiance. Sommelier on hand, which was very helpful when choosing wine and beer options to pair with the meal. Nice food presentations. Food could have been a bit warmer. Room was a bit cool. Server mentioned it was because of an open door, but didn't offer to move us or close the door.
I am not exactly to sure if the server had too much on his plate but it seems like he didn’t come to serve our table often. We waited for an extended period of time after sitting down before he came over nor did he introduce himself. Once the food was brought over, he immediately came over and asked how everything was before we even had a bite. My ice water was empty the entire dining experience. The food was great, which I need to extend compliments to the chef. Being also a hospitality worker of a very well known hotel within the area, I expected better service as this is a place I recommend guests to.
Had a wonderful time last night with my family. Chop Steakhouse management and staff did an excellent job in celebrating my brother and my dads birthday. We felt like we were treated like VIP with a nice dining area and the food and service was perfect. My daughter also enjoy walking around and keeping everyone entertained.
My any wife was there on Saturday night, the service was good. There was someone opening the door for you when you enter and greeted you as well. The food was not good for how much it was charging for. I tried there Prime Rib and I am not joking 1/3 of it was Fat! The seasonal of the prime rib was ok, definitely not great. I just don’t understand how you serve a piece of prime rib with 1/3 of it being not eatable fat! I would never return again because you can spend the same money for something better.
We were a party of 11. Our waiter was friendly, but struggled to serve a group this size. The drinks took a very long time and the meal was even longer to arrive. But.... the food was really good and everyone had a great time. The meal was a bit pricey, but I feel it was worth it.
Very noisy, lots of kids running around. Food was just ok. We had made advance reservarions to celebrate our wedding anniversary, which we had made known at the time of reservation......we were there for a quiet romantic evening. Unfortunately, we were seated in a very noisy section with lots of kids and no one even bothered to wish us a happy anniversary.
It was not the romantic evening that we had planned......quite disappointing.
Terri and I had a a great prime rib dinner paired with Cassini fine Pinot Noir and N'K' Mip Rose. Our server Tegan made our evening fun - was great at explaining meal choices, and helping us forget that we had to get up at 3 am for a flight. We will definitely be back when we overnight at Sandman Signatureat YVR
My husband and I often go to Chops to celebrate our birthdays and special occasions, not only because of the food, ambiance and service but because they always make us feel special. We always enjoy their Chops Experience, especially when the prime ribs were cooked as we preferred and served with a big plate of salad too. This last visit, we miss their wedge salad with basil lime vinaigrette dressing which we really enjoyed but we understand the need of change in their menu.
We appreciate Chops making it more special for us by treating us their Mini Fallen Chocolate Souffle Cake for my husband's birthday. This cake is something to look forward too for the next visit.
First of all, the booth they arranged for us were too crowded for group of 6, so we asked for another table. The hostess said other big tables were reserved and gave us two options that 1) keep the booth 2) they will put tables together for us to sit at the bar.
We picked to sit at the bar, so the hostess brought us back to the reception area to sit and wait for them to set up the table for us. Later she brought us to the lounge area and left; however, we saw nobody setting up tables in the lounge nor greeted us. Like 5 minutes later, someone finally came to us and asked if we had been helped and we explained the issue. Later she brought us to the other side of the lounge while picking up a beer from the bar and sending it to the table and started taking orders with them. Yes, we were left out somewhere in the lounge, with no direction to the table and set ourselves down at one booth.
I mean yes, the food are okay. However, the service were ridiculously terrible and we felt like we weren’t welcome or so. I felt extremely bad because we invited a retired police officer for dinner but got such a unpleasant experience.
As usual, CHOP gave us a great experience. They gave us a private room for my boyfriend’s birthday party, and even though we had 10 people, they didn’t charge us an automatic gratuity. Their service was great; they helped us take tons of photos and even accommodated our request to get a different steak with the CHOP experience. Everything tasted delicious and they even threw in a free slice of cake for the birthday boy! We will definitely return in the future.
Came for lunch with friends. Was disappointed that new menu did not include Large Prime Rib for lunch any more. :( Tried Smoked Rib Eye, but as good as it was, I didn't like it as much as the prime rib. :( I was impressed the chef came out to check how I wanted it done (I had asked for rare, like I usually do for prime rib) and suggested I go with Medium Rare to allow the marbling to cook more for better flavour.
This is the first time we eat at "Chop", i booked it thru opentable, and i wrote down the special request for the writing on the dessert cake and it was perfect. Service was wonderful, pricing is fair, just that the steak for my wife was way overcooked, she ordered medium rare but it was well done, after we requested for a change and the second one was perfect, but the king crab portion is small, and the taste is not that good, I think it's been broiled for so long, the crab taste are gone. At the end they waived the price for the whole dish (steak and king crab) , and the dessert was free too, it made us a bit surprised at the end. Also a bit comment on the sides vegetable, it's a bit hard to bite, it was some kind of carrot like veggie, i don't know the name of it, and it's not tasty too. But after all, the service was great, just that the location is a bit hard to find if you're not local. Oh, my sever was Ringo, and he was wonderful!
Food quality is great. The quality of the Prime Rib was the highlight of the night for everyone. Unfortunately, the level of service at this restaurants appears to be consistently poor. It is difficult to find our servers throughout the course of our dinner. From drink order, food order, clearing plates and even trying to settle our bill takes a long time. The restaurant appears understaffed and the manager appears helpless to remedy the situation.
The restaurant was fine, but I think I'm done using this reservation service and will return to just picking up the phone.
This is the second time in a row that I made a reservation with Open Table, only for the restaurant to have no idea of it when I arrived. Happily I kept a copy of the confirmation email on my phone, being gun-shy after a similar experience with a reservation for the Riverhouse less than a month earlier - and that was supposed to be an anniversary dinner, no less.
A service which does not work reliably is no service at all.
We attended the restaurant as part of our 30th wedding anniversary. We were seated quickly and the experience went downhill from there. Our server seemed over-taxed though the restaurant was less than a quarter full (it was a Tuesday evening - 7:30). He did not know what the bar served on tap and was unable to refill beverages in a timely manner (we brought our sons, aged 8 and 11, they had a Coke and a milk) without be reminded repeatedly. The wine list indicated some intriguing BC wines except our first and second choices were unavailable. In fact our server brought the wrong bottle the first time. This caused a delay in the wine service and we did not receive our bottle until well after our main courses were served. The net effect was we ended up with a bottle of wine we could not finish before the end of the meal, nor take it home because it had been decanted. Because of the various delays and errors in service, my boys became antsy and one began to draw (with his finger) on the micro suede fabric with which our booth was upholstered. When correcting his faux pas, I noted the crevice between the seat and cushion was FULL of crumbs and food debris. Put off by this, I accompanied one my sons to the washroom, to clean my hands. To my surprise I discovered the hand washing faucet was not secured to the counter top. In fact, two of the three faucets were held down by their flexible supply tubes!
Upon returning to the booth, my son, in scootching into his interior seating position nearly upset the table as he brushed up against it. The table was not secured to the wall. We were fortunate not to upset the whole dinner service. The restaurant and washrooms are very dimly lit. I suppose this is intended to create ambiance but I suggest there is a more sinister motive for this. I place the blame for this disaster of a business squarely on the shoulders of management - the kitchen is competent but uninspired, but the front end staff and the physical plant are appalling.
Our first visit. Celebrating our 45th anniversary. Food and service was great. Our server asked if this was a special occassion and offered us a wonderfully presented complimentary dessert. Though the dinning room is a bit dark, it was very quiet and offered a private dining experience. We will recommend Chop to friends and intend to visit again.
Great Prime rib steak and quality of food is in general above average. We can see the servers tries hard but lacking some training. Not all meals were served together and the server spilled melted butter all over my phone which required extensive cleaning to get the smell out. Although the restaurant was apologetic, I believe with proper training and coordinating, these can be avoided to achieve an otherwise great dining venue.
