Chop Steakhouse & Bar - Chinook Ratings and Reviews
I ordered a top sirloin steak ($29) and it came overcooked, dry about 1/2 " thick and looked to be about a 4 oz steak and they claimed it's supposed to be a 7oz steak. It lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes were not bad. The waiter only came once to check on the meal and I had not bit into my steak. I expressed my diapproval and they comped my meal.
We chose Chop to celebrate our 11th anniversary on Saturday. We've been here for a few anniversaries and birthdays before. As usual, the food was great and the service was amazing. Our waitress even handed us a Happy Anniversary card at the end of the meal, signed by all the staff. It was such a sweet gesture. We have a birthday coming up later in the month, and we'll be going back!
Was going to book at The keg steakhouse, but ended up trying chop steakhouse to celebrate New Year's with my lovely girlfriend and was not disappointed with the atmosphere! Felt like high class dining with great staff that were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with our needs. Ordered speciality cocktails which we both were amazed by the quality and taste. If I could criticize... for the particular price point (which is more upscaled then some steakhouses) the steak itself could have been sized more appropriately to match the price considering we do live in Alberta and I'm assuming they source the steaks locally so prices could have reflected that with larger portions but overall great experience!
On 30 December 2017, I ordered a steak sandwich - true rare - which was delivered medium/medium rare. The waitress didn’t even notice the error (lack of attention to detail). I didn’t bother saying anything because a Chop House ought to be able to cook a steak as requested. I’m an out of towner and I chose the restaurant because of its proximity to the theatre. I’ve visited a couple of times and my experience has been the same - although I had to the steaks I ordered back too. I would not recommend choosing steak; at least they prepared the Ahi (Tuna) to perfection.
We went for dinner for a friend's birthday and we had the Chop salad with steak - this was pretty much the best salad we've ever had! Definitely a must! Service wasn't 100%, as we did need to flag people down to refill our wine after waiting with empty glasses for quite awhile.
I haven’t been to Chop Steakhouse in over a year. Took my boyfriend for a special expensive evening experience. I ordered the cheapest prime rib chop experience $37.95. I was tremendously disappointed by receiving an extreme thinly sliced piece of meat to makes matters worse half it was grizzle - stringy fat which I could not chew wasting away. I didn’t complain cause I couldn’t make sense of it why they would serve an entree at this cost by giving me practically all fat.
Spent my anniversary here with my wife.
- Service was great.
- Food, was average the crab cakes tasted like they were frozen and were not good at all. Had the 20 oz Rib eye asked for med rare came out rare I expected a bit more for the price. Desert was great.
- Ambiance was good for a date.
- I don't feel the value was here for the price range.
We enjoyed an excellent night out with great service from Tyler. The Ahi tataki was wonderful and we had the best blue cheese wedge salad I can remember. House smoked ribs were very good and the dessert trio pushed everything over the top.
We mentioned we would be sharing each part of our meal as we enjoyed our appetizer. Tyler let the kitchen know this and they plated everything for so that we each had our own plate which was a very nice touch.
Prime rib was cooked perfectly and a good portion. Recommend the truffle scallop potatoes or seasonal vegitables to go with. You don't need too many sides. Make some room for desserts - mini Caribbean rum cake or cream brulee are so good. Overall price is not cheap here but foods is excellent.
It was my birthday and I was not disappointed. The server(Austin) I think that's his name was amazing. He made sure my girlfriends and I did not missing anything. What a good server you have there! Keep up the good work Austin.
The yam fries were a bit burnt and dry, however we got a different plate of them and overall the food was really good and I'll go back in a heart beat.
