Chop Steakhouse & Bar - South Edmonton - Ellerslie Rd Ratings and Reviews
We must have hit this place on the wrong night we went for our anniversary and it took almost an hour and twenty mins to get our food, the meals were mediocre at best by the time we got them our waitress was overwhelmed with no help from management it certainly wasn’t specific to us the table beside us was there 5 mons after we got there and wasn’t served until we were leaving. At the very least management needs to help manage the house better put priority on meal waits and if there is a back log in the kitchen step up take accountability and keep your guests informed and ensure their drink order is taken more than once in the hour and a half they wait for their food. I’ve eaten at other locations and not had this result, like I said I hope we hit this on the wrong night if not the owners should invest in some support for their managers and drive quality from the top down, don’t let the wait staff have to eat crap sandwiches from the guests because things are going wrong in the kitchen.
Went for my 1 year Anniversary, we like this place and have been a couple of times. As always the food was great, the restaurant is nice, our server this visit was new (we heard her introduced at another table as new with another waitress, she helped us alone). While I can appreciate people being new, for a 130 dollar meal plus tip....you expect the serves to be prompt and not having to ask for bread or asking about the status drinks you ordered.
The young lady was trying hard so I can appreciate that much. It just would have made the night more enjoyable if it was more timely and we didn't have to discuss it. We will be back though.
We’ve had a few Saturday night cravings for a good steak, so my husband and I ha e been heading to Chip For the chop experience (you get a starter, select choice of entree and sides) for a decent price. I would say if we had only gone once, the food is amazing! But because we went a few weekends in a row and ordered the exact same thing each time, the food is really inconsistent. Still good, but sometimes better than others. We were there this past Friday and I ordered a steak well done.... it came medium rare and tje waiter took so long to come back, I couldn’t say anything so I just ate it...
What a great experience! We are from out town and I requested a cake? For my husbands 60th birthday. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and lead to a private room where there were numerous 60th birthday balloons in the corner, surprise!
Our server was overly attentive and fantastic! Steaks and all were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of our night, my husband was presented with a special ‘Happy Birthday cake’. What a perfect evening and pleasant surprise. We will be back. Big thank you for making a memorable night!
We had an amazing evening... from the host ... server and the food was absolutely superb !!!
It was a anniversary celebration with our friends but the attention to the details were nothing short of perfection!! We will be back and tell all of our night !!
Thank you !!
I took my boyfriend for a date night to Chop, he had never been there. I chose Chop out of the 4 restaurants I had been contemplating for a tasty steak. Chop did not disappoint, we were both thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and the service. My boyfriend is fairly picky, especially when it comes to steak, and he was so impressed that he sent his compliments to the chef, it was the best steak he's had since moving to Alberta. He said he'd go back every week for one if he could. Let's just say I for see this being a new top choice for future date nights!
Chop is a great place to have an excellent meal with great service. The generous portions, several sides and different combinations make this steakhouse a favourite when I'm taking one of my adult sons for dinner. The atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy and the experience always pleasant.
We were at your restaurant celebrating our 28 anniversary and were treated very well. Our waitress, Chelsea was friendly and pleasant to talk to and was attentive to whatever we needed. The food was good and the atmosphere pleasant. Stopped to take a look at the bar and there was a live band and some people even dressed up for the time period. Pretty cool.
As the Chop is close to home (less than 5 minutes) we consider it a neighbourhood gem. It is usually fairly easy to get into, even last minute. The food rarely disappoints; sometimes the service can on busy nights but not tonight and it was almost a packed house when we arrived. We were well attended and our meals were great. My only complaint is I wish they would switch up their menu more. The problem with neighbourhood gems is you can frequent them so much that the menu can become boring. I find this happening with me at the Chop and wish they would switch up their menu a little more.
Great food, great location, great friendly, efficient service! Our second visit to Chop on Ellerslie, and again, we had a wonderful meal! Our server, John, was so attentive, without being intrusive, and took good care of us. Our meal was delicious, and topped off with a complimentary birthday dessert! All in all, a lovely evening!
After going on a date to Chop on a Saturday night I have found that the food was excellent! Our server was great and very attentive, especially for things such as drink refills, and suggestions, as this was our first visit to Chop. Reservations are definitely recommended as we saw a few people being turned away at 6 p.m. on a Saturday. The only downside to this entirely wonderful experience was ironically our first few moments in the restaurant. There were three hostesses at the reception counter and they all seemed to ignore us in favor of helping a couple who had no reservations. While I expect everyone to be served despite reservations it was an awkwardly long wait before anyone acknowledged our presence or was able to check for our reservation ( they appeared to have only one ipad (?) with which they could check and it was being used for the other couple). However, aside for the slight hiccup upon arrival everything was spectacular and I would definitely recommend Chop to everyone I know.
When you have a friend visiting from another province and they ask about the best place to try AB steak and you take them to Chop then the chef screws up both your steaks is not cool. We both asked for medium well with a little bit of pink but the end result was very well done.
Host was very pleasant and apologetic, although it wasn't her fault unless she rang it wrong. Anyway Manager acknowledged the error and saved the day by comping our meal and complimentary dessert. Might try again just to get the full Chop experience.
My husband and I visited chop to celebrate our anniversary. I indicated that when I made the reservation. We were seated promptly and given menus. The waiter came by and took our drink order. He was gone for quite a while and a waitress passing by our table asked if we had been helped. We told her yes, but would really appreciate some water. She said she would get that for us. The water never came, the drinks finally did though. At the time I asked our waiter for water and eventually we did get water. He took our order and the appetizer came out quite quickly. Shortly after our meals arrived. My husband ordered the Pepper Corn Rib Eye and although it was cooked the way he likes it the sauce was far too salty. I had ordered the prime rib which was cold when I received it. The au jus had actually solidified on the prime rib. The potatoes were good but the vegetables we also undone.
Having made the reservation indicating that we were celebrating our anniversary I thought maybe the wait staff would mention that but they did not.
Will we go back, I am not sure.
We thought we'd try this restaurant as an alternative to The Keg, our usual steakhouse. I liked that they took reservations as the Keg doesn't, and you are usually waiting some time to be seated. We were seated immediately, and the booth we were at was comfortable. The decor is modern, but dark, which helps the large open spaces feel a little more cozy. The service was quick, but inefficient. We had to ask for water twice, which to me should be one of the first things you are brought. We didn't' get bread with our meal, although it looked like other tables were given bread. The food was good...nice crab cake appetizer, the steaks were cooked perfectly, but I didn't love the sauteed mushrooms on the side as they were barely warm and needed more salt. We booked through OpenTable and indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary, and the staff didn't acknowledge our special occasion. Overall it was nice, but not better that the Keg by any means and seemed a little more pricey for what you got. The service wasn't bad, just could have used more polish and flow throughout the meal.
One of the nicest prime rib entrees I've had in a long time, served perfectly medium-rare as requwsted.
I requested a 'quiet' table and were seated at a nice, remarkably quiet part of the dining room where the four of us were able to converse effortlessly.
Our server was prompt, knowlegeable, not intrusive.
