Steak took 40+ minutes to come. Manager came and apologized after we had to call the server, twice, to ask for an update on our food. The steaks came, Manager said Chef overcooked them and he had to re-do them again.
upon the first bite, the three steaks were overcooked and by far, the saltiest steak I have personally ever had in my life. My co-workers' steak was also super salty. Two of use had to reject it, we couldn't eat it.
Service was OK, but the waitress insisted on selling us an overprices bottle of still water. We asked for TAP water twice and she insisted on a bottle of still, didn't feel like arguing with a waitress, so we accepted.
Terrible. Chop is usually a good chain, but this location is TERRIBLE. If you go, make sure you tell them about this review and make sure they make your steaks properly, The rest of the food (Salad and Appetizers) were good, as expected.
Wine list is really good and very decently priced.
Always the best when you want a steak....food prepare to perfection, the best service.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch the service was amazing the food was fantastic and delicious.
Not impressed. Steak and prime rib were over cooked the steak was not tender. Was recommended for our anniversary and I’m sorry but I would not recommend this place at all.
The meal and service was absolutely great!
It was our 1 year Anniversary they ended up giving us complimentary champagne and free dessert. On top of that they made us a cute card where everyone that’s worked there signed it.
My wife and I arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation time, but were seated right away.
Excellent . All staff were very attentive, although the location filled up rapidly shortly after our arrival.
We came to celebrate my husbands Birthday and had a wonderful time. Great food, even better service with great recommendations. The server overheard me say it was my husbands birthday she brought us a lovely card and special dessert. It was very quite less then 10 people in the entire restaurant so that made our date nice and private. Will be back. Thanks!
Ate on the 2nd floor. Quiet and darker than main floor lounge. Very good food, great server (Christy), just a little pricey. Nice for a special night out though.
Even though we showed up 15 minutes early we were seated right away. Our server Michelle K was superb. Attentive yet not overbearing. Offered her opinion when asked. Was sincerely interested in making our experience first rate.
The GM Mr Chow came by the table to make sure everything was going good.
Food came promptly even though the restaurant was very busy. Both our meals were excellent.
Went to Chop on a Saturday for a business meal before an Oilers game for two people. While the atmosphere and food were fantastic, our server seemed very nervous and awkward to the point that it made us uncomfortable every time they came around. They misinformed us about what came with our meals, which wasn't a big deal in the end - like I said - it was great. But they also forgot to bring us waters, and even a second wine glass with the bottle of wine we ordered. We eventually had to stop them to ask every time we wanted something (like to order our meals, and for the bill). Everything felt a bit like pulling teeth . I know this isn't the status quo at Chop, and it was just one slightly uncomfortable experience. The server was possibly new, so we can't hold it against them really. We were super happy with the food and overall atmosphere!
Server well prepared, reviewed menu with recomendations
Drinks came quickly
Tuna tetaki was excellent
Steaks, salad and prime rib topped our mains
All perfectly done!
New bakedAlaska was for desert- awesome!
Great service, excellent food
Food took an hour
Brutal experience, there's a reason the place is busy only on game days because everywhere else in close proximity to Rogers is full.
1) I made a reservation, they sat me and my guest at DIFFERENT tables when both of us gave my name to the host
2) They brought the wrong food to our table
3) There were way too many visits by our server and the manager to our table, it was the worst possible way for the meeting to go.
If I ever visit Chop again (any location), it won't be by choice.
We had originally made a reservation for a Saturday night before an Oilers game but when we arrived at the main floor entrance they said our reservation was for the second floor however, we were welcome to stay on the main level if we wished as there were still available seats. The next morning we had breakfast in the second floor area - and am I ever glad we stayed on the main level for dinner. Upstairs was dark, windowless and a little depressing whereas the main level was bright and bustling and a much better atmosphere for pregame dinner and drinks in my opinion. Will make sure to specify where I would like a table reserved, but that was the only issue we had. Otherwise the service and food were wonderful, the drinks were creative and the wine list had a little of everything which was nice!
For a steak place, would appreciate a better cut of meat. Steak sandwich was more bread than meat.
It was our first time here.Myself and my husband we were really impressed with the quality of food and serve. Our waiter Riley was super nice he deserve a big thank you and the managers too.I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
Some of the best service we have had in a long time! They were very accommodating and made sure we had the best experience. The handwritten birthday cards was a nice touch! Do not see that at restaurants that often! Thank you!
This is our second time here, food was much better then the first time. Everything came out piping hot. Our waiter Christy was lovely, seemed to anticipate our every need, and recommended perfect wines for each of our meals. We are excited to come again for my husband's birthday next month.
Pleasantly surprised. Food was plentiful and tasty maybe a bit salty steak but cooked as ordered which is not always the case. Decent wine list
Server was fantastic , problem was several items we ordered were not available.
Attended a Downtown Dining Week dinner in order to sample a pair of three course meals at a fair price. Reservation was honoured at the correct time. Staff was courteous and friendly. The salads were fresh, the main courses [including pork ribs, Haddock, and veggies, etc.] were properly cooked, and the desserts were deliciously sweet. We sat for over two hours and never felt pressured to hurry eating or leave, even though there was a hockey game scheduled for the same evening.
Why have they not won for best Cesar Salad in Edmonton? I visited Chop for the Edmonton Dining Week and started with a Cesar Salad and finished with Prime Rib Open Face - both to die for! Will definitely go back!
I only gave them a 4 Overall Rating and 4 on Value because I wish their regular menu had a few lighter lunch options at a bit of a lower price point.
our first time here, very nice fancy place, food was good, will come again for another lunch gathering, except the waitress is a bit slow, especially when we are on office lunch, we had to rush back to work.
Service was great, food was good but our potato's were not very hot. We loved the dessert.
Our waitress was inexperienced, my husbands steak came seasoned although he requested no seasoning, it was returned to him and one end was thicker than the other and the thick end was rare not medium rare so it was returned again to cook up. The manager appeared to take over from that point and my husbands steak was much better after recooking it. My prime rib was cooked right although we both felt that both of our meals were not warm enough .... it perhaps sat too long before our waitress brought it. We did not have to pay for his steak and got a complimentary dessert. If not for these things it would have been a great meal. Nice ambience and location to Rogers Place.
The salads were fresh and the vinaigrette was amazing. The steak was perfectly cooked and the haddock was sweet and spicy. The desserts were decadent. Trey, our server was great and other staff assisted when we asked. We have never had a bad experience even when the place was very busy.
I requested a medium-rare steak and I got it well done. I did let them know, and they did step up to offer a new piece, but I did not want to wait so I ate it. They were gracious enough to take it off my bill, and they went the extra mile to offer me a complementary steak on my next visit. Nice!
We understand oilers game night is very busy, restaurant should make appropriate adjustments. Stood in line for ten min waiting for a front end host to then realize we were at the lounge not the dinning room. Better signage needed to direct people to the dinning room. Food and beverage was great
The staff and management at this location were fantastic!! Food was awesome and everyone treated us as first class guests. Will be back next time in downtown Edmonton! Recommend this restaurant and this location!
Amazing food exceptional service and impeccable experience!
Steak was a little tough, waitress did not know menu, when asked if mash was garlic. Then misunderstood why I asked. Had to get a table setting from another table myself. One of the service staff had bad BO.
Poor food and service. Had to return my steak. Overpriced. First time there. I have been to the Keg at least 20 times. Not even close. Will never go back
First time here and it was great!! Riley was our server and he was charming and funny
Great server Stephanie!!
Made a reservation. Tonnes of seating but placed at the door. Waited for a very awkward introduction and drink order. Bartender asked waitress if she took my order properly. She said yes. I took 1 sip and said no. Bartender agreed the drink order was written incorrectly. She remade my amaretto sour perfectly. Waitress was not prompt...stared at my escargot for 5 minutes waiting for her to bring a fork. Lovely. Cold escargot. Steaks are not Alberta beef. Local beer is not local. Craft beer is not from a craft brewery. Why mislead guests? Unsure. Overall...vengure elsewhere..leave this place to the hotel guests and homeless people wandering around the foyer..
The food was wonderful. The server we had was outstanding. He made sure somebody attended to us on our and rival and then apologized for being late. He made meal recommendations and checked to ensure everything met our expectations. My wife’s meal had an issue which was taken care of promptly. He asked at the end of our meal if we were pleased and would return. When we said we would, he provided suggestions on what to try. He made us feel completely me rtable and valued.
Food was great, service was great
Excellent food. Excellent service for a group of 10.
We were looking for a private dining room to celebrate a double birthday. Chop Downtown answered our requirement. The private room allowed our grandchildren to behave ‘normally’ so the parents could enjoy. Our server was excellent: attentive, knowledgeable and professional. There was a choice of food types, something for everyone: all excellent: tasty. And a great selection of wines both by the glass and bottle. We will return for another special occasion and try different menu items.
Reservations were made. Upon arrival staff met us in a friendly atmosphere. Then escorted us to our table and immediately turned over to our server. We enjoyed our favourite Tuna Kitaki . Service was sharp with drinks on the ready and always a clean table. As always a fabulous meal and un matched service. A great feeling of satisfaction on our departure with thoughts of returning again soon.
