This place is always a good tome. Good food great drinks! The price for all you can eat all you can drink is so worth it!
We were driving around looking for dinner so I used OpenTable to book a reservation for 6 people for dinner. The reservation was made for a table 15 minutes from that moment (clicked at 6:45pm for reservation @ 7pm). Perfect... that's the power of OpenTable.
We got to the restaurant, kids in tow, and the hostess saw the reservation on their system, but then told me that I'm not allowed to "do that." I was told that I can't book a table 15 minutes before the reservation. I pointed out that OpenTable actually allows just that... which brought me to your restaurant in the first place. When I asked what the problem was, I was told that "it isn't fair" because people are waiting for tables already. I simply said that they should then update their open reservations so OpenTable doesn't offer me a table, but the hostess told me that OpenTable doesn't work that way and doesn't allow them to do that. Uhm… yes it does, that's exactly the purpose: to connect people to open reservations.
I asked her is we should just wait or should we leave... she actually told me that we were better off leaving. Wow. At that point, I said fine, turned to the family and said we need to go elsewhere, but then I asked the hostess to bring out the manager so I can at least explain the frustrating experience.
The manager tried telling me the same story about OpenTable, but he at least told us to stay as he would get a table very soon, which he did. Still a very frustrating experience with people whom are clearly not trained in OpenTable operation. The interaction ruined my mood for the family dinner, so hope that it doesn't happen to others. I'll avoid the restaurant now.
Great experience. They offered some additional noodle options I haven't had in a hibachi-style restaurant before. The spicy Udon dish got rave reviews from our group.
You can order sushi with the Tappan section but you can’t order tappan from the sushi section. Drinks are slow steak and food is average. Good sushi
We at the Teppan table . Food overall was good. My wife and I both had filet & shrimp which were very good. This is the first time I had the Yakisoba noodles and I didn't really care for them because Chomp uses cinnamon which I thought was an odd ingredient. Also, I would like more vegetables and less onions and potatoes but overall the food was good and there is always enough for a second meal the next day.
Food is delish but the wait time to take your drink order and food order is ridiculous. We waited so long and it wasn’t even busy also I order some French fries and they tasted like fished they were horrible maybe add clean oil from the fryer or use different fryer for fries
I made reservations on OpenTable they call me five minutes before where to be there and saying sorry we don’t except open table reservations when they’re busy I said but you excepted it. She said will do the best we can do it we had to wait 45 minutes they took other people in front of us. Took a long time to get waited on, then the waitress spilled two beers of our, not intentionally but trying to carry too many items. the food came out all wrong, Not very organized
Had to wait a bit for our Teppan table but to be expected since we were there on New Years Eve. Teppan chef was entertaining. Service & food were both good. Would definitely go back again.
Great food, great service. Overall really awesome experience.
It was great. Good was wonderful and the champion was tasty
Our server Kevin was amazing, our chef Lorenzo on the other hand, we had one of the best date nights in a while. He was great. Do yourself a favor and make sure you ask for Lorenzo.
Saki ! Bomb !
Asked for a refill on a drink and had to remind the waitress who also made a large error on the bill. Overall it was a good evening.
It was awesome, as always!
Best chef we've ever had there!! I hope to ask for him next time.
Hostess was terrible... Tried to give us a terrible table twice while they were practically empty at 5:30
Always delicious and one of the family favorites!
We celebrated my husbands birthday. The best choice of foods for everyone to choose from. We all loved the food and the waiter and waitresses were all great.
Hostesses were very rude. Waitress never checked on us. Our food took forever. We ended up just wanting to leave because the service was so bad.
Great service. Made reservations for 8:15pm and were seated approximately 30 past our reserved time. This has happened more than once. Place was packed and they seemed to be short of staff (could have been the now hiring sign posted on the wall). Chef was fantastic. Will definitely be back.
Party of 15 for brunch. The table was ready on time, service was friendly, everyone enjoyed the food. Great experience overall.
Hit on all cylinders today
The cook was too busy flirting with the girls, he was burning our food and was giving the girls he was flirting with some of the food we ordered. It was very disappointing, you pay a good amount for the food to have it burned right infront of you.
Loved their all you can eat sushi!
We had to wait 25 minutes after our reservation time.
Limited availability of wine, by-the-glass only, no bottles. Limited visits by the wait person. Brought us the wrong bill. This former favorite is off our list.
First I made a reservation at 2pm on Sunday. Brunch was over at 2pm and one of the ladies in the front said it would be 10 min to close for brunch. That was fine, but we didn’t wait 10 min we waited 40 min to be seated. And they already seated 2 other parties before 2:10pm. So that was one strike for me. The second strike was the young lady in the front that is supposed to be one of the greeters. It was already 2:30pm, I went to the counter to ask when will I be seated I had a reservation. Two young ladies were at the desk. One of the little girls looked at me didn’t even acknowledge me. Rolled her eyes and looked back at her phone. The other taller female looked at her worker and looked at me and just told me a couple for minutes. I would rather avoid places where they have employees who have attitude for no reason. I didn’t approach the ladies with attitude. I didn’t show any aggression, so I didn’t understand why she was mad because I asked when I was going to be seated. Excuse me, I should be mad I had a reservation and it’s been 40 min I haven’t been seated and you just gave me an eye roll and ignored me. No thanks. I don’t need to dine at your establishment anymore.
Reservations @ 7:30pm on a Saturday night for EIGHT! We were promptly seated and drinks a flowing, CHOMPS has a Buzz of high energy that is contagious and carried throughout the night... Big Shout out to JOE (JOKER) KUR our Chef that kept bringing the Amazing tasting dishes with his personality you couldn't go wrong. The Pregame became the GAME!
Always a 'go to' for a great brunch!! Family and friends all love it!
We like their old selection for their happy hour. Still like the seafood option but the variety of food that was in their menu is gone
Great service and food.
Had a great time. Out hostess was great and cook- Jose was amazing. Kids want to go back and so do we.
Food and service was awesome. However the chicken was way over cooked. Could not eat it.
We reserved a table for at Chomp on OpenTable for my bday. We reserved for the Teppanyaki and arrived on time. Still waited nearly 30 minutes to be seated. After being seated we waited another 15 minutes before anyone came to take drink order. I ordered a cocktail which was awful. Tasted like cool-aid and rum. The chef finally arrived to cook our meal nearly an hour after we had arrived at the restaurant. They forgot half of my main course (scallops) and I had to ask the chef if they were going to serve it. He had already finished cooking the entire meal and had already cleaned the grill so he said he'd have to cook it in the kitchen and would have it brought out which happened 20 minutes after we finished our meal. The Teppanyaki meals also included dessert which they completely forgot to serve us. We had to ask for that as well when they wanted us to pay our bill and get moving along. The waitress apologized and said they were really busy for a Monday and someone had simply forgotten to bring our table dessert. The food we ate was good. The vibe of the restaurant was good. But they were obviously under-staffed for how busy they were and all of the staff seemed overwhelmed. We'll likely try it again sometime but will probably just go to the sushi bar and avoid doing the teppanyaki. Hoping our next time is a better experience as I know other people who rave about this place.
Hostesses weren’t the most friendly/helpful. Actually seemed like they didn’t really even want to be there. We were meeting people there and were told to let them know when everyone arrived. It took several minutes to even be recognized by the hostess once our party did arrive.
Server didn’t deliver drinks to the right people and was hardly visible during our meal. Never came by to check on drink refills or additions. Dirty bowls and empty glasses cluttered our table. Not being cleared until we were done with our meal. This really contributed to a very cluttered space.
Neither the hostess or the server turned on our grill, so this delayed our chefs ability to get started right away cooking. The chef was awesome and the food was great. Was a little concerned considering how the evening started.
The service was good and the experience was great. The pricing on the food for the grill was on the high side.
Always an enjoyable Brunch experience at Chomp! This last visit, there was an overly loud group watching football in the bar that had no noise control - not the restaurant's fault.
Every time I go to Chomp I have a wonderful time. The servers are always so nice and check often enough to make sure we have everything we need. This visit we went on Sunday for the brunch and the food was fantastic! There is something for everyone from sushi to eggs and prime rib. My only complaint is the chairs are a bit uncomfortable but hey, not uncomfortable enough to stop me from coming back! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
We love your food. The only thing we can’t stand is those stupid tables with the roof top thing over then between sushi bar and Teppan tables. They feel like you’re sitting at kids lunch tables in elementary school. When I ask to not be seated at those, the hostess always give a bit of a stink eye . I also asked if I could sit at a big table by window and she said there was none for party of 4. She doesn’t know her tables very well because there is one and I would have waited a few more minutes for the one table!! I made. A reservation for a reason!
Every time we go to Chomp we use OpenTable knowing that they are always busy; however, we still have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes to be seated. People who walked up and signed in were seated before us. This doesn’t happen at any other restaurants when using OT. The hostess seem to be constantly involved I their own conversations. There are so many other great places in Fullerton to eat, & I’m willing to drive a little further out if I want better sushi & teppanyaki.
