Chinois continues to deliver on great food, an excellent staff, some of whom have been there for 30+ years and great ambiance! Bravo to Wolf and all.

Chinois has been on Main for quite a few years now, and it never disappoints. When I am in the mood for a great crispy duck and fried spinach, I make a bee line to Chinois. This night they also had lobster egg rolls as a special appetizer and they were quite tasty!!

Have been going here for 20 years, usually for special occasions. Food is always fantastic. Never disappointed. Service always attentive and knowledgeable. Always ask for John as our waiter. He’s the best.

The Chinese Chicken Salad is literally the best one there is in the world! Yes, that's hyperbole, but it's deserved. You will cray it's so good. The Schezuapn Beef was astoundingly good too.

Food was very good, service was ok and the place was dated. The service could have been better. I spoke the the manager on the way our and he could have been nicer. The desserts were fabulous!! The very best chocolate cake I think I've ever had and I'm picky. Overall I'd go again and this was my 6th maybe 7th visit. I like that it is fairly casual.

Calamari and Tuna appetizers were excellent. For our main course, we had the short rib and side of duck fried rice. Very good and large portions. We will be returning, with friends so we can try more dishes!

Great food but pricey. The waiter recommended way more food than we could eat so we treated a homeless person in Santa Monica to some excellent Asian fusion. Lots of fun but not as elegant as itemembered.

Everything about this place was fantastic. The waiter was so attentive as well as the rest of the wait staff. Food was all fabulous! And not the run of the mill menu. We were given both an appetizer and desert for no reason! That made it even more special but even without those I highly recommend this place.

Food was delicious! It just took FOREVER for food to come out. It seemed like all of the tables around us were brought food continually. Maybe they just forgot us or something.

Our waiter, Lisa, was outstanding as were all aspects of the service. The fried whole catfish and fried rice couldn’t have been better! The appetizers were good but not at the same level as the main courses. Would strongly recommend.

Chinois is one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Monica. We love the deep fried catfish, stir fry vegetables and the fried rice. The place always has a great vibe. The decor is gorgeous and creative. Peruse their wine list, you can spend $45 or $4,500 on a bottle of wine. The food always comes out fresh and delicious. Parking can be an issue so we choose to UBER it when we are staying in town. This is a must go to restaurant if you love great Chinese food.

Chinois on Main never disappoints. The food is always delicious. We celebrated my bday and brought friends who had never eaten there. Its a wonderful place to share dishes because of its family style portions and the food is prepared with special spices and ingredients that makes it different from others. I always highly recommend this restaurant to others looking for great eats in Santa Monica. It can get loud but we always enjoy the fact that everyone else loves it as much as we do.

I was very disappointed in the very bland Chinois Chicken Salad. It just tasted of pepper and for a signature dish was very disappointing . I found most of the dishes to be lacking in flavor and unlike any of the other Wolfgang Puck restaurants that I have been to. I normally love Wolfgang Puck's flavor profiles ; however here the chef seemed to be phoning it in.

We tried an appetizer special recommended by our waiter...foie gras with pineapple that was delicious but at $50 the waiter should also have mentioned the price! Then we had warm, curried oysters that were plump and juicy, two each and then the main course of Cantonese duck...a different waiter showed up for this order and told us we had to have the fried rice - which was a mistake. The rice was gluey, studded with unidentifiable lumps of matter and basically inedible. The duck however was perfectly cooked and came with a variation on a plum sauce that looked a lot like cranberry sauce...we finished it off and couldn't eat another thing. Servings are generous, ambiance is noisy but buzzy and if there weren't so many other good restaurants around, we'd probably go back...but any high concept eatery that serves such gluggy rice can't expect repeat visits...

Chinois on Main is frozen in time and not in a good way. The decor is old and dingy in addition to just feeling dated. The staff seems tired of their shtick. The food was oversalted and gloppy. The duck pancakes arrived very quickly but lukewarm and with way too much hoisin sauce slopped on top. Even the beer wasn't cold enough. I saw someone at another table get theirs in a chilled glass but I guess my server was interested in taking that extra step. They did give us a free dessert for our anniversary which was kind. But overall, it was a big disappointment.

I used to love this place, that was why we chose it for our anniversary. I found most of the food so heavily sauced that you could barely taste it. The pork chop was overcooked and over sauced. Mushrooms were great. Doubt I will be going back.

Very good as usual. Perhaps the menu shows some aging and should be updated. The same treatment given to the Catfish dish should be tried on a different, less mud-tasting fish. Duck great but they should serve it with the usual chinese pancakes and the proper sauce like any great Pecking Duck.

We had lunch at Spago and wound up having dinner at Chinois. We wanted fried catfish and this is a great place to have it. It's on the small side but very sweet. We also got fried rice which was full of vegetables and stirfried vegetables that were fresh and tasty as well as the tempura ahi. This restaurant has been around for a long time and sometimes you Forget about it but you should go back because the food is always so good.
