Seating is outdoors but heaters were working and plentiful. Food was outstanding as usual. Service was impeccable. Still an exceptional dining experience.
All good as usual
They are doing okay under the current circumstances.
There was only outdoor seating on the evening we dined there. It was a bit cold but there were ample heaters between tables.
Our server was very attentive and took good care of us. The bidders were equally attentive. Over all the service was great.
The food here is wonderful. It never disappoints to dine at a Puck restaurant. It had been sometime since I had a Chinois salad and it was as good as I remembered. I will say that the prices are more expensive than most places, but it is worth the splurge.
Great food, great staff.
Food and service is great. Have to get the chicken salad and short ribs. Deserts are also fantastic.
Fabulous soft shell crab. My husband had the chicken, we shared their famous salad and vegetable fried rice. Outstanding meal for our 22nd anniversary. Waiter was attentive and so were the busboys.
Food was delicious. Service wonderful. And the outdoor dining is well spaced and charming
Chinois on Main is only serving outside. A portion of the street is blocked off, and there is no Valet. I missed dining inside, hence the low score on ambiance. However, they have done what they could to muffle sound from the street. There were heaters, and the servers were responsive.
The food was excellent, and creative. We had Asian curried lobster and potstickers - both delicious. We had a good chocolate cake and raspberry sorbet for desert. The wine was a 2017 Walter Hanzell Chardonnay. Normally I do not order 4 year old whites at restaurants, but this one was in excellent shape.
My Wife and I chose Chinois on Main as the place to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We had a 6:45 pm reservation and were promptly seated in an outdoor dining area which was pretty well blocked off from the noise of Main Street. Our server was not the friendliest but she seemed busy and sometimes it’s hard to tell if someone is smiling behind the mask I guess. We ordered some noodles with vegetables, Lamb chops and the braised short rib special. The lamb was my favorite. Perfectly cooked and well presented. The noodles were good. The short ribs were a little heavy so I ended up bringing half of it home. I had two glasses of wine, a Chardonnay followed by a Cabernet Sauvignon, and was surprised there weren’t more choices by the glass. For dessert, some Granny apple spring rolls and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. The chef wrote “Happy Anniversary” in chocolate on the plate. The bill was over $200.
Had a great evening with wonderful food. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. Our FAVORITE restaurant.
The best meal in the Los Angeles area PERIOD. Never disappoints.
Outstanding food and service. Really enjoyed the meal.
Underwhelming. Sea Bass is different now and was overcooked. The duck fried rice which is normally superb is different too, and not as good. All in all, disappointing. Only thing that was okay was the service.
It's been around forever, but Wolfgang, Barbara and Bella know how to run an endearing restaurant. Same menu and same quality, forever....and...a treat to eat outside. Thanks Bella.....Bill and Joan Vogel
Classic fine dinning from Puck. Great food for the past 35+ years. Haven't lost a step. Love this place.
Food was amazing! Service was great! We were celebrating an anniversary, and the server surprised us with a delicious dessert. Overall a wonderful dining experience!
Classic and consistent. My first two wine choices from the wine list were not available. A first world problem for sure.
Excellent food. Attentive service.
Food, service, people amazing every time. One of my favorites
The food and service was phenomenal. The portions are large, fresh, and served hot. We had a wonderful time!
Love this place and Bella is just a lovely lady and the staff is first rate.
We always love the food at Chinois. Unfortunately for them the inside is closed to guests. However, Bella is there with her beautiful personality. They are making the most out of dining al fresco. Brava!
Great attention to detail
Lobster curry over the top
Great great great service.
We don't like sitting in street gutters in outdoor dining. It's gross. Build a floor?
Very good place
Birthday dinner for 13 people
We had a wonderful dinner at Chinois on Main!
Bella and her staff were provided excellent service and the
food was outstanding!
Delicious meal. The lobster and catfish were out of this world. Excellent service. Will definitely go back soon!
Terrific food. The outdoor space is charming
It is one of our favorite places for dinner. And it never disappoints
food quality has gone down.. love the staff, the atmosphere created..
Chinois is a 30+ year favorite. My wife , Liz, and I must have eaten at Chinois nearly 100 times. Everything from Sunday night dinner to Halloweek costume parties. Bella, the great host-owner-generall manager is the ultimate professional. I've given parties in the private room with gret success.
Chinois is the ultimate in consistency. The entire staff is totally professional. This particular night we were able to say hello to many staff I had not seen inquire a while.
The Bella designed street scene set up is sort of exciting and works well for guests. It is a bit hard on staff going long distances with food. There is even a delivery robot that runs up and down the sidewalk.
Exciting, good food, well presented, with as much charm and sophistication as any Restauant in Los Angeles. A must for foodie visitors and regulars like me. My guest had never been to Chinois. She will be back, I'm sure.'
Congratulations to Bella and her great team. Thank you.
Great food and service.
I've eaten at Chinois on Main for many years and it was one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The food was always special. Last night's meal was disappointing. The lobster in the spring rolls was overcooked and boring. The lamb appetizer was ok but it was never clear what I was eating. There was no focus in the dish and frisee piled in the center with no dressing only added to the confusion. The Schezwan beef was the best dish but the presentation and gooey sauce on the beef were unappealing. The lemon custard dessert and chocolate fondant cake were the highlight of the meal. I don't think Wolfgang has eaten here for awhile.
Amazing service from Chase and great recommendations for the solo plant-based group member.
It was amazing. Everything: food, services, serving. I really recommend this place!
Too much of fusion
As always dinner at Chinois is a wonderful experience. the food is truly exceptional and the tastes are unique. This is a not a local takeout Chinese. we were seated outdoors and the noise level was minimal, save for a calm to musician playing on the sidewalk. very cool. the Duck pancakes and fresh crab were sensational. A must to dine here at least once every two months or more
Chinois is consistently amazing! Delicious food, creative flavour combinations, great cocktails and wine list, impeccable service!
