Choinois is my absolutely favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is party-like. The food is fantastic. Watching the staff in the open kitchen preparing the delights is so entertaining. I cannot wait to go back again.

Short and sweet- best crab cakes I’ve ever put in my mouth! Service was amazing, food was delicious. I highly recommend Chinois. Oh and I sampled the dessert selection and everything in it was scrumptious beyond words.

The food is not tasty, everything is just sweet. We ordered sichuan beef and the infamous Shanghai lobster. Both dishes were full of sugar. I expected Sichuan beef to have some Sichuan pepper in it but no it didn’t. The salad was so old that I could taste mold in it and the leaves were yellow. Never ever go there again.

There is no finer restaurant in SoCal and I’ve been dozens of times and never once had a less than stellar dining experience. Their wonton sea bass on the specials was sublime. Truly amazing.

Another wonderful experience. Chinois is a neighborhood gem! It’s longevity in the competitive Los Angeles restaurant scene is proof to its outstanding quality of food and service. The menu is creative and features classics like the , Chinois chicken salad that should not be missed. Pro tip: they offer a half salad not listed on menu. Cannot wait to visit again soon.

We dined at Chinois on Main last night, and it was spectacular! I frequented the restaurant quite a bit in the 80s and 90s when I lived in Santa Monica, so I was already familiar with the experience. But last night, on my first night back in town visiting, I was so impressed by the deliciousness, ambience, and service we had that I had to comment. We started with the Tiny Dumplings, the Oyster appetizer, and a Scallion Pancake, followed by the Sea Bass and the Shanghai Lobster. For dessert we had the Panna Cotta and the trio of Crème Brûlées (which was my favorite from before). It didn’t disappoint! I have to give the highest praise to our server, Lisa, who was fabulous, very attentive, friendly, and clearly devoted to our having best experience possible. All in all, it was a LIGHTS OUT experience—Wolfgang Puck does not disappoint!

First time at Chinois in 15 years and it's still great! Everyone so welcoming and warm. We sat at the counter looking into the kitchen and the ambiance was excellent. Portions are generous and the food is delicious. Prices are reasonable considering its an iconic restaurant in Santa Monica. Definitely less expensive than other restaurants on Main Street. The Lobster Spring Rolls were incredible as was the salmon. It certainly won't be another 15 years before we dine here again!

The food never disappoints and the seafood dishes are outstanding. That said, a pad Thai side dish was way too sour tasting and the coffee was thin, not the tasty Pete’s coffee that was brewed in the past. The kitchen staff were very loud at certain times.

Chinois turns 40 this month (September) and long may it continue to run. The food is made to order, fairly priced and still surprises with its delicate flavors. The wine list is very fairly priced and comprehensive. But beyond the food and the wine there is the welcoming atmosphere and the even more welcoming staff. From Bella at the door to Lisa at our table to Victor behind the bar, there is nothing but smiles, warmth and accomodation. We will be back soon and we hope to see you there.

Whole catfish more than enough for entree for two. Duck fried rice also a great side for two and a good amount came home. Thankfully not too noisy. Just people noise no music. Always love this LA restaurant.

Food was mediocre at best. I’d equate the food to Red Lobster but with a premium price tag. Someone in my party had severe abdominal pains while still dining. I’d probably skip this one. The server was pretty nice, he was rushed though and only stayed long enough to get the water order, guess I won’t have that drink after all. Perhaps this is a sign I need to back off?

Chinois remains an outstanding, fun, innovative place I cherish going to - and have since the mid 90s. The food is sooo good, the kitchen counter unbeatable, and the staff so good. Fun, friendly, many whom have been here years and even decades. This remains Wolfgang Puck's best Restaurant - maybe because it's the most personal and intimate. It feels like coming home every time we are here - which now that we have moved up to NoCal is a must-do every time we are back in LA. Shoutout to Bella Lantsman who has greeted me and us since the early days of Chinois, always has a smile and good story. You and the longtime Chefs (Rene and Luis before him), the staff and the incredible food remain world class amazing - and so much fun.

I am NEVER disappointed at Chinois. We have been customers ever since the restaurant first opened. It is our favorite spot for birthdays, dinner with out of town visitors, private celebrations in their party room, and consistently wonderful dinner dates for ANY reason. Bella and her staff are impeccable! The menu has favorite dishes you can always look forward to and seasonal additions like soft shelled crab that is mouth watering. We LOVE Chinese chicken salad, the duck fried rice, the haricots in black bean sauce and the fried catfish. The short ribs are always a winner too. Leave room for one of the stunning desserts too! Make a reservation. ALWAYS a fantastic meal.
