Food was terrific, as I recalled from my encounters with this restaurant's Chicago and Las Vegas locations (now closed, alas!). I was told by our waiter, Chris, that NYC was the first restaurant and has operated since 1987. We opted for the 'Restaurant Week' prix fixe (with a couple of upgrades). Service was quick but not rushed, staff was attentive but respectful (no one interrupted our conversation to ask about the food).
The restaurant felt a bit tired. The full-height windows appeared dirty when looking out to the street after dark. There is no carpeting, no table cloths, and the walls appear to be covered in some kind of stone. However, the room was high enough to prevent the noise from becoming bothersome. Main lighting is provided from above, with large leaf-shaped shades covering lights that hang from the unfinished ceiling. The gap between the lights and shades allowed direct light to shine into the room, which we found to be somewhat unpleasant.
