Made a reservation on OpenTable for this restaurant, however when we got there they informed us that they are not part of OpenTable and have no equipment to support OpenTable reservations!? Strange. Anyway, there's not much for breakfast in downtown Tulsa, but this was a great find. Mostly breakfast tacos - they were all great.
Chimera is a Brady District coffee/sandwich shop with a bar. We took weekend guests for lunch on a Saturday. When ordering at the counter we were told that on weekends they serve breakfast tacos and bakery items only until 3 p.m. When we asked if one of our guests could have a vegetarian sandwich they accommodated our request . The menu isn't large but creative with more vegetarian choices than not. Everything we tried was very good. The Bloody Mary, ginger infused green tea, breakfast tacos, sandwiches and pastries were all house made and made well. The ambiance is typical coffee shop but w a bar.All items were reasonably priced and the staff was friendly and informative. A great addition to Tulsa's downtown.
While the food, ambiance, people etc were all great, there was zero sense of urgency when it came to delivering service to customers. Some formal training of the staff would be very helpful. You can see all the staff members, however, they are involved in their own conversations, side duties etc. We literally had to wave someone in every time someone in out party needed a refill. Really? So close to being a place that I could make a regular stop. Just can't until that service gets better.
The portions were not oversized. The prices were good and a great atmosphere.
