Chima Steakhouse - Washington Ratings and Reviews
I'm not sure what I was expecting from Chima other than unlimited meat. Even then, I wasn't too impressed with the meat selections--it ended up just being too much meat, and essentially all the same flavors. I wasn't going to visit the salad bar at first (wanting to optimize my time/money on my MEAT), but the salad bar was actually pretty awesome. I don't really know what to say about this place other than... you should just check it out for yourself. I liked it, but not enough to spend $50 on it on a normal night.
This is a very nice once-in-a-while restaurant unless you are a T-Rex. We "celebrated" with a send off to a dear friend who was relocating to Europe. We dined during DC Restaurant week for the fixed price menu. 3 meat types were not permitted for this promotion, which was "expected", but there was some difficulty for the table to understanding what was "off limits" especially when you have a dozen different waiters running around with 16 types of meats on scewers. Eventually, they figure out that our table is the "fixed price" menu and stop offering meats we should not be choosing from. Other than that, the evening was wonderful and because it was during the DC promo, the place was packed! Wall to wall.
WE will try it again! Ciao
Amazing as always! We brought our out of town family for dinner- babies, kids, and adults. Everyone LOVED it and said it was the best brazillian steakhouse they had incountered in all their travels thus far. Amazing service, hot amazing food, and lots of fun! See ya next time!
Worst dinning experience to date. The waiters were slow and not attentive. The meat chefs were slow to coming to our table and kept offering us the same items that we previously refused. The meats that we were able to try were too salty. I was so frustrated with the service, I couldn't enjoy anything and could not get out of the restaurant fast enough.
I passed this place many times and the outside does it no justice as to how spacious and warm the ambiance is inside. The wait staff and comancheros are on top of their game. The food flavor and ambundance of it has to match or out do "Roman" days of old. Wish I was 18 again so I could have my carnivor appetite back and consume much more! These guys are on top of their "A" game!
Most of the meat was outstanding - a couple of the cuts were on the cooler side, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The sides were delicious, but the only thing I would criticize was that I felt rushed the whole time. Our server was good, but the people that came and dropped off the sides seemed rushed to get out of there.
My experience with Chima was satisfactory in general, except the blackout part at the end--they lost their power around 9pm and I and my friend waited and waited but the power never came back. The server didn't say sorry or anything but other than that the restaurant was good and quite fancy. I would recommend it for special occasions.
Many people recommend this place to me so i decided to give it a try . However it was no t wha i've heard
The waiter never stopped by to the table to see if we needed anything . I was in a rush when i asked for the check he brought us the dessert menu, it took a long time to get the check. The valet parking took another 7 minutes or more to get my car . Food was ok .
I don't think that there is such a thing as a "bad night" at Chima, even when they're really busy there always seems to be enough of the servers to drop by and make sure that you're doing well at your table. If I had more money, I would be at this establishment much more often.
Amazing food, attentive service and overall great experience. I recommend that you take a loved one with you. If you have children of a young age, please consider having them stay with a sitter as screaming children can ruin the experience for other patrons. This is what I would call a fancy restaurant and the quality of food and how the patrons are dressed reflect that. There's always "that guy" wearing a T-shirt and Jean shorts to the establishment, they stick out and are an eye-sore. I recommenf not being "that guy" as its not cool, its just embarassing. Valet service is prompt and courteous making the night a breeze all the way through.
Good food. I had read in previous reviews that the "bacon-wrapped filet" and "bacon-wrapped chicken" were dry/overcooked and I found the same to be true. Less so with the parmesan pork loin but still a little so. Seemed smaller pieces of meat were a little overcooked, bigger pieces of meat much less so. Lamb was very good. Top sirloin very good. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and will return, but must say the smaller pieces of meat tended to be overcooked.
the meats were like many brazilian bbqs, obviously on the high side, about $50 per person. They have some good quality of meats, from bbq, top sirloin, rib eye, filet, rack of lamb, chicken, fish etc. The meat carriers are aggressive sometimes, in your face which I didn't like but the regular servers did fine tho ours was a bit pushy to sell the liquor which I understand on some level. Very nice ambience, good space, free valet, the tables are far enough you can have a nice conversation.
The salad bar is better than most of the other brazilian bbqs i have been to and the free accompanging appetizers are very good, clever cheese bread, fancy french fries made out of different things like sweet potato.
bring a healthy appetite!
It was my girlfriend and I first time at Chima. It was amazing. I love how they had complimentary parking when we arrived so we didn't have to struggle for parking in the area. Everyone was very kind and helpful when we first walked in. I had a reservation for 2 and we were seated immediately. Our waiter (Wiener) and Team #2 assisted with our table really well. I loved the salad bar, it was something that I have never experienced before. I also love how accommodating they were and if anything we requested they had it done for us. Very organized and professional. I had my money's worth. My girlfriend and I had the best dining experience here. I was very impressed and I am expected to return with a few of my friends some time again.
The food was tremendous. Our secondary server was wonderful. Our "head" waiter barely had time for us, but the secondary server was very nice and attentive. The hostesses were also very kind. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary. We're both gluten-free. My sister baked a GF cake for both of us, which the restaurant graciously served us. Highly recommended!!
