Chima Steakhouse - Washington Ratings and Reviews
We go to Chima Steakhouse for our friends' birthday parties several times a year. It was my birthday last Saturday and we had party of 12. This time was very disappointing. Meat/food barely came to our table and we had to ask several times to get the service. We didn't even get half of the types of meat/food that was on the menu. I know it was a weekend and the restaurant was busy but we were very upset. It's an upscale restaurant and we didn't get our money worth.
Very attentive staff, our waiters were great and management team checked in to ensure we had all we needed. The gauchos asked several times if we wanted anything in particular. The only down side was the couple next to us fought through the meal and eventually the woman was crying at the table, which brought our evening to a quicker end than we would have had. By the time we paid our tab she was bawling so loudly that everyone in the area was watching. Not the restaurant's fault, but dampened the evening none the less . Still an excellent choice for a meal. By the way, wonderfully knowledgable staff for gluten allergies, which we had in our group of 3.
Everything was great but we were charged for Club soda and then given a bottle of sparkling water and charged for that. it just seemed like a strange way to increase the bill. We didn't appreciate that. The food itself and the service overall was incredible. That was the only thing that was annoying.
For the price you pay, the food quality and taste needs to improve on a grand scale. This includes a better variety in the salad bar, flavor that makes the meat memorable and tastier desserts. This place is a complete rip off. I wouldn't know the difference between the meat in a TGIF, Chima or an Applebee's if I were blindfolded. That's how comparable it was, yet the other two places would never charge you as much because it isn't worth it. I went with a party of 9 and no one was impressed. We all came to the very same conclusion as well. This is the first and last time we will ever dine at Chima and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The service was amazing, a little overwhelming at times when all of the meat guys came to our table at once. Our server was Outstanding, very friendly, good sense of humor he was patient with us since we are a pretty rowdy group. He even took our picture and printed it for us. That being said I would definately come back but only for special occasions not on a regular day (unless I won the lottery).
My boyfriend and I decided to go here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary! The service did not disappoint. Meats were on rotation and we did not feel like we were waiting for anything, it just kept coming! After a satisfying dinner, we were pleasantly surprised with a tiramisu cake for the occasion. Overall, 5/5 and would definitely come here again someday!
Special place for a special meal. The salad bar is always good. We enjoyed the filet, beef and pork ribs, lamb, sausage and the salmon with passion fruit sauce. The last being a favorite. They really hit it out of the ballpark on that sauce and the grilled pineapple, too.
Everything was great. Friendly staff, wide selection of wine, fresh food, personalized service, & decently priced. I will definitely dine here again.
My only complaint is that it was cold inside the restaurant, but considering it was 17 degrees outside, it’s understandable.
We went day before New Year's Eve. Everything was good from food to service. The meats were on point! As always, you really need to bring your appetite although it doesn't take much to fill up due to so much selection. Since it was during the holiday season, it was pretty busy. We appreciated the $25 dining credit for a future visit in 2018. Thanks, Chima!
Food was plentiful. Loved that they often asked what specifically we were waiting for and brought it out promptly. Just wish they offered shrimp in addition to all of the varieties of beef. The salmon was great. The salad bar was fresh and inventive in the options provided. The steak and cheese (a seasonal option) was the winner of the day. Many of the other beef options began to taste the same after a while, but the special sauces at the salad bar helped prevent meat fatigue!
My husband and I bring our two kids here every Christmas Eve for a special holiday dinner (our "kids" are young adults--early twenties and late teens). It's very pricey, but we've been four years in a row now, and we'll definitely keep the tradition going. The meats are delicious, which is what you visit a Brazilian steakhouse for--a generous selection of well-made meat brought right to your table on a constant basis. The buffet of side dishes is varied and tasty. As if a buffet of sides and constant meat offerings aren't enough, you get a small selection of sides delivered to your table upon being seated: a small bowl of very creamy mashed potatoes (so rich, one or two spoonfuls are enough--so good!), tender rolls, and polenta fries. The selection of alcoholic beverages is extensive, as well. This restaurant offers a high-quality something for everyone, which I suppose is why it's always so busy on Christmas Eve.
The value for the money has dropped significantly in the last year! We felt that the gauchos were on a 'carve-drop-and-run' mission. Last year they spent time at the table making sure that everyone received the cut of meat they wanted, the amount, and the cooking level. My wife went to the restrooms and was shocked at how dirty they were. At over $80 per person, I would have expected a better experience and clean bathrooms!
