Chima Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Upon entering our party was happily greeted by the hostess, and brought to our table which was a great location. The server explained how it all worked for the newbies, and the food was outstanding. We could all talk and the noise level was not too loud. I would definitely go back.
We have never been to a Brazilian steakhouse type restaurant so we weren't sure what to expect. Chima is in center city Philadelphia and although they tell you the dress code is business casual, there were many in there in jeans and sweatshirts. Upon entering, the bar area was packed. We did have reservations, although once we entered the dining area it was apparent we didn't necessarily need them. (Better safe than sorry though) We were seated in the middle of the room and explained the procedure. The salad bar would be the first course. It was filled with anything and everything you could imagine placing on a salad. Once salads were complete they started with the meat. It was fun tasting all the different pieces they had and the portions they give I originally thought were small, but with all there is to taste I knew why. No worries, you could ask for more of any of them at any time. The meats were done to perfection whether rare or well done. Dessert was amazing...choices ordered off a menu. We did not drink any alcohol, only water and soda. Waitstaff seemed somewhat non existent once the meat had stopped flowing to our table. It to a while to see a dessert menu and then to get the bill. We definitely were quite surprised though when the bill came ...for four of us (including an 18% tip) we had a bill that was $348...$87 per person I feel is quite high for an evening out that isn't a special occasion. There are no prices online and our bad for not calling ahead and asking what the cost would be per person.
We went for a birthday. The food and service was excellent. There was a continuous rotation of meats and an unending supply of sides. The waiter was attentive but not annoying. He also brought over a huge slice of cake to us which was absolutely delicious. This is definitely a 5 ⭐️ Restaurant.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious! The restaurant has a modern, chic vibe, which I liked. Chima has more variety in the salad bar and rodizio, which included vegetables unlike other Brazilian Churrascarias in the city. We had complimentary valet as well. Such a great experience and Birthday celebration! Thanks, Chima!
First experience there. Food was well prepared. The varieties of meat impressive and very good flavor. Waiters delivered the food almost too fast (turn the chip over). The grilled pineapple was a good touch and delicious. Black beans and rice were very good.
We were looking for steak in Philly and were able to get a reservation here through Open Table. We were very pleased from start to finish, arriving early we found a nice bar/waiting area. We were called right on time and sat at our table. The wait staff was impeccable, three waiters constantly checking on us. The salad bar could have been a meal itself, over 30 different choices. The selection of meat that the gauchos brought offered many varieties, all very tasty and in abundance. We were able to find a delicious Malbec that didn't break a wallet. A great experience, will definitely return.
The food was great. The salad bar had everything you expected and more. The service was great. Wait staff attended to you. The food just kept coming. Omg.. The Chocolate Lave Cake was to die for. Rich and creamy. My dinner there was for my Anniversary and my husband couldn't have picked a better place.
Amazing meal as always, salad bar is always fresh.
Restaurant request I made through the app weren’t really followed/reviewed.
I ordered cheesecake for an anniversary dessert and received the wrong one!
No big problem
We will be returning
Wait staff was amazing and attentive !
I can not say enough about this place!!! The food was amazing! Service was great too. I cannot believe it took me this long to go there. Its my new go to place for my wife & I. We really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend going here for a date, party or whatever ya want. I cannot wait to go back!!!!
Not a very good experience. Not sure if they were understaffed or just holding back on service due to CCRW. I did order the premium cuts menu but was only served about 6 of the 17 choices offered. A manager came past to offer sausage after I bought it to the attention of my server (who was very pleasant). I was disappointed in the experience at best.
Go somewhere else. Our "server" was more interested in filling water (not ours) and busing tables than actually checking to see if we needed anything. We had to grab one of the other servers because we hadn't seen ours in almost 30 minutes, and even had to get our check from another server. We also had to ask for the meats to be brought to us several times.
In the smaller dining room (off the main dining room), the tables next to us were obnoxiously loud, far surpassing the din of a "fine dining" establishment. The other patrons of the place were rude, pushy and pretentious.
I'd be even more upset if it wasn't Restaurant Week and I would have paid full price for a painfully mediocre hipster-like atmosphere, poor service and a poor selection of meats. The best part of the meal was the glass of wine that I had.
Fogo de Chao on Chestnut or KoP charge the same price and have much better quality of meats and salad bar.
Staff was very courteous, but outrageously slow. If you wanted anything beyond two or three of the main choices they push, be prepared for a very long meal. Multiple of the choices never came around. Also, very inconsistent with meat temps... Medium-rare could mean anything from blue to medium-well, but hardly ever meant medium-rare.
This was my second occasion to dine at Chima. On each occasion I was part of a large group. I found the service to be very good especially since each time the restaurant was very busy. The food tastes impeccable! Each Gaucho was quite accommodating in serving both portion size and choice based on the individual request. They especially took great care in serving a minor child in our party and treated him very respectfully.
Nice ambiance. Food was tasty. However was not satisfied with the service. The waitress did not come to check on us. We spent a lot of time idle waiting for the things we were requesting. A lot of meats did not make it to our table because two big parties were constantly being served. We went during extended restaurant week but we got the extended special for all the meats. It was not worth the value because we did not get filet mignon but one time along with lamb and salmon only once. When we were asked if there was something we requested. We did not get that meat until about an hour later because it never made it past the other tables. Would go again for the taste but I wish the service matched the quality of the food for us.
