Chima Steakhouse - Philadelphia
This resturant is great to say the least. The steak and salad bar was pheonomal. The service was great as well, a little pricey, but it's definatly well worth it..must go again sometime.
The food and drinks were good , though the service was horrible. The " cowboys" were frantically moving in a random none sensical pattern , had to ask for certain meats because they never came to our table. Seemed to cater to large groups.Cowboys did not seem interested in coming to our table for two by the salad bar , but visited the party of six across from us several times an hour. Found myself waiting so long between selections, that I lost my appetite. Will not eat here again unless with larger group as this seemed to be the only way to get regular table service.
Food and ambiance were great! However, our server was not attentive or supportive to our large party of 12 and it took over an hour to pay our bill.
The food was amazing. The service was great at first, but as the night went on we seen less and less of the Gaucho's and our waiter.
Chima was a great experience. It's pricey, but the service is fantastic so that's fair enough. You'll get some fun appetizers and sides, and the salad bar is the tastiest I've ever had, more like a snazzy buffet really. Watermelon martini's were a delicious palate cleanse. Those accoutrements, of course, are not the main course. Flip the little disc on the table to "Yes..." to let the revolving servers know when you want them to stop by to offer you a slice of one of the many cuts of meat that are the focus of the Chima experience. There's roasted chicken, pork, beef, you name it. Fair warning...learn how to say no so you don't go home insanely full, pick out your favorite cuts of meats and only try them or you'll regret it.
I have never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before and didn't know what to expect. They have an enormous amount available both on the buffet as well as the servers who come to your table with meat and chicken on skewers (I don't recall the exact terms they used). The food is all cooked very well and the deserts are amazing.
Everything was great till the bill came and our waitress messed up our bill ... I wrote everything down on the back of the receipt with name of card and how much each card was supposed to be charged and she completely ignored it and did her own thing which caused chaos. Not so happy with chima won't be back for a while
The service was impeccable and if you like meats of all kinds (including chicken and lamb), this place is extraordinary. If you don't know how this works, you pay a flat fee (about $53) for unlimited salad/soup/cheese bar and unlimited cooked meat (only drinks and dessert are not included in the price), which is served to you portioned by waiters who carry the meats around on skewers and cut portions onto your plate cooked as you like it. The meat is exceptional - some of the best flavored and prepared meats I have ever had, including the chicken, which is to die for. This is the place to go for hungry people who like big portions - if you don't eat very much, it may be a little pricey.
Everything was great, from walking in the door until sitting and enjoying my meal. It was excellent. Came there to celebrate my partners birthday. She enjoyed herself even more than I. Only problem was that other guest were very obnoxious and seemed that noone cared as management and or servers to want to contain them or ask to keep it down. Very disrupting and beyond loud. From chef to chef, tone down on the salt on bacon wrapped chicken as well as any chicken served.
Took my daughter on her 18th birthday. Service was great. Guys sprinting from table to table slicing steak or chicken or lamb. You get the idea. The salad bar was the best I've encountered.
I wanted to dine at Chima's based on recommendations from two friends who actually enjoyed the restaurant. I am a fish, lamb and chicken lover and I was looking forward to eating at Chima's. I was impressed upon entering the restaurant. It was nice, clean and the atmosphere was welcoming. The gaucho's and waiter's were very friendly and attentive. I only have one complaint, the lamb and chicken was seasoned well, but too well. It was very salty and I couldn't enjoy the food the way I wanted to. I will try Chima's one more time because the staff was so pleasant and maybe the chef for the day overseasoned the meat.
This was a amazing place.....the staff was outstanding!
Great food and salad bar.
And service is great as usual!!
Good food good service. This is such a great place to come with friends. The qulity is worth the price. But come during restaurant week if you can.
It was a beautiful place with delicious food and brilliant service. It's like they knew what you needed it was wonderful. Perfect for any occasion. They really care about you. I hope to go there again soon!!
Only thing I thought was wrong was, the guest who made reservation were seated after the people who walked in.
We went to Chima on NYE. When we got there we sat at the bar for 20 minutes because we got there early. They bartenders were fantastic. very very friendly and knew their stuff. We were sat at our table pretty close to our reservation time. The food was great but our server wasn't that great. She seemed very distracted the entire time and forgot to go over things with us. We had never been to Chima before so it would have been nice to know more about their salad bar area and how the sides worked. The bartenders give me hope that the service is actually good there and that we just got a bad server. We would go back.... as long as we could not have the same server.
Had reservations here for New Years Eve. We have been to several Brazilian steakhouses and i was impressed with the quality of the meats at this one. Salad bar was amazing. Overall experience definitely deserves a visit back .
We had a very poor dining experience on New Year's Eve. Considering we paid $190 for 2 people, we got lousy service, very little food. We were there 2 hours, and mostly all that was offered to us was chicken. Many of the steaks, lamb, etc never even were brought to our table. Most of the time we sat with no food on our plates. There was a period an hour in to the meal, where 20 minutes went by with nobody bringing any meat or potatoes. The staff seemed to be catering to a very large table, while our table and the 2 next to us got virtually no service. I know the other tables complained to the staff as well, so it wasn't just us.
Great intimate steak house. I would suggest this to any foodie for a change in pace from stuffy so called "premiere" restaurants.
This was my first time visiting a fancy Brazilian Steak House! My partner and I made reservations for New Year's Eve dinner. The food was fantastic. There is a giant fresh salad bar, which is much more than simply a salad bar: There is an amazing cold seafood salad, myriad cheese and cold cuts, soup, veggies of all kinds, great asparagus, antipastos, and of course ingredients to make your own fancy mixed salad. This alone could be a noteworthy meal, but don't fill up on the first course. The salad bar is followed by (all-you-can-eat) cuts of meat on swords. I left full, but you can try small slices of everything (i.e. many choices), so I was not uncomfortable. It was a fun New Year's Eve meal!
Let me start off by saying if you are not a meat eater than a place like Chima is not for you, We LOVE going to Chima. The food is always great and cooked to each of our liking's. New Years eve was a nice time out at Chima and we don't mind spending a little extra for great food on a special occasion.
My wife and I really enjoyed going to Chima's Brazilian Steakhouse. The food is good and the atmosphere was very nice.
The Better Brazilian Steakhouse
Being a meat lover I was looking forward to the rib eye but they only had cajun ribeye.I was disappointed.
Price went up. Check your bill-18% tip seems to be included regardless of party size. Not sure who gets the tips as servers stated they are salary and not entitled to tip. Use to love this place.
We went with our young-adult children. Our service was terrific. Our glasses, including water, were never empty. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive.
The food was outstanding! The salad bar was beautiful and spectacularly tended. With a large selection of options, it was constantly being refreshed so that everything in the presentation was very pretty and inviting.
Of course, the parade of meat was the main attraction. They never stopped and were absolutely delicious. With five of us at the table, we ran the gamut of meat temperatures from well done to rare and there was nothing that we did not like. The leg of lamb was one of our favorites.
We have already recommended the restaurant to friends and would go again.
Had European friends and family visiting and decided to take them downtown for a special dinner. Great experience from entering the restaurant all the way through. Friendly front desk, attentative service, salad bar with huge selection and a great quality meat selection. Would definitely visit again.
Great night with excellent service in a great atmosphere!
I'd give this 5 stars except for some of the wait staff. Most of them were very energetic and immediate to serve and offer assistance, others were going through the motions just to earn a paycheck. The food is fantastic but a big part of eating here is the attentiveness of the staff. and a few looked less then thrilled to be working that night. I'd still recommend this place to friends. You really can't go wrong with the variety they offer. The salad and seafood option was a perfect choice for my wife.
Went on Christmas Eve. The meat was not as good as usual.
Everything was cooked to order perfectly
My boyfriend and I dined at the restaurant for his birthday. The food was delicious!
Great food and service as always
I had been to another Brazilian Steakhouse in Philly and was planning on impressing my future in-laws with a unique dining experience. However, when I was looking to make a reservation, I waited until the last minute and that place was booked. Thankfully, I found Chima and rolled the dice. It far exceeded any of my expectations and I will definitely return. There was plenty of room, food was delicious, valet parking was free and it was easy to get to. I highly recommend this place to people for a unique dining experience that has both energy and sophistication.
Alright the restaurant was excellent as always, service couldn't ask for more. What I really was pleasantly surprised and hope to see again in the future was the complimentary valet parking. Parking in the area is not great and price can be absurd. So when I found out the valet parking was complimentary it was the icing on the cake for a terrific night. Please keep this service in the future.
Had awesome service, food was great as always, waiter on top if things !
3rd trip to Chima and they never disappoint.Service is great, food is outstanding. Chima really does an outstanding job in every aspect. Highly recommended for that special occasion.
I ate here with a party of 5 to celebrate my wife's and my daughter-in-law's birthday. We also had our 3 year old grandson with us. the food was excellent. The salad bar is not the usual salad bar but a great buffet table' The service very good as they employ a team system so there was always a wait staff member around. The meat is served at the table and you choose how much or how little you want. You have to pace yourselves since they also have desserts. I'm looking forward to eating here again. The price is high but not as high as many of the high end steak house chains.
I took my employees and their days here for dinner...they all loved the food and the service. Overall we had a great time.
