Chima Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
For my first time with friends; it was fantastic. The ambiance was awesome and the crew bringing out the different meats were very friendly. My hosts were fantastic. All the food was glorious to the palets of us all. We will return again. I have told many of the various selections that you offer. Desert was to die for. The atmosphere was fantastic. Thanks for your service.
Everything was enjoyable except the price. I went there last year and I believe the price was $43. This year it was $50. I was not prepared for a $7 increase in a year's time. I would love to expose other friends to this restaurant, but I have to prepare financially for it. We traveled an hour to get there, plus parking.
We had my son's 21st birthday dinner. Everything was excellant. Service was great. The wait staff could not have been any better. Food...OH WHAT THE FOOD!!!! If anyone leaves hungary it is their own fault. Salad bar was very good and the meat very good. Sides that are brought to the table that are standard fare are ok.
Food and service were both exellent and would highly recommend to anyone who is particularly fond of the wide variety of meats that are served rodizio style.
Thiugh there was a large selection od sauces for the meats I was a little disappointed in the taste of many as they lacked authenticity. The Chima Sauce was fantastic and by far the best and the Hot sauce was also quite good. We were so full we could not have dessert...make sure you go in with an appetite, you won't regret it!!
This was not our first time at Chima, and we have found it to be a consistent and fun place to dine (when you're in the mood for lots of food and an energetic atmosphere). It's great that they offer seafood, in addition to the large variety of meats, and the salad bar is excellent. We just wonder how much salt is used in all of the food preparation since, after we left, we felt the need to drink water for the next 24 hours! Nonetheless, we had another good experience at Chima and appreciate what seems to be their emphasis on providing great service.
The food as always great, however our party of 6 was having trouble getting our waiter(s) this time, also when we did get are waiter and make a request, it was hit or miss if he remembered. I love Chima, but may need to take a break for a while, or give Fogo another chance.

Only one choice in this typical whirling-dervish South American steakhouse with staffers interrupting every four seconds to slice off bites of various proteins. Very good salad bar, but an overall poor value, compared to more formal, menu-offering steakhouses in the area. Personally, I would have rather relaxed in to a simple filet elsewhere, and not been bothered with all the fuss offered here.
This was me and my Boyfriends 2nd time here and we still love it. The only thing I wish is that we could have had the same waiter we had the first time we came he was very polite and friendly and made us feel like we were dining with family. Our waitress this time was very stand offish. She didn't really help you enjoy the moment. But other than that everyone else was very kind and polite. I would recommend this to anyone.
Chima is one of my favorite locations to eat in Center City, not just due to it's decor and fantastic service, or because it's a block away from my home (though that's a huge plus), but because of the delicious food.
This time, however, I was bringing my "significant other", fairly serious, to the first truly "nice" restaurant (she's far less the type to go somewhere with a dress code than I am), and... she absolutely loved it. Chima is really fantastic. Unless you don't eat meat, there's something here for everyone, truly.
Truly a dining experience for those that enjoy the protein part of the meal. We went for a romantic night out and this hit the mark! The Flank Steak stole the show this night. The lamb was also a hit. The appetizers were outstanding and the salad bar was full of unique treats that finished the meal well. The creamy vegetable soup was a great addition. The service was outstanding and very attentive.
Be careful. I got sucked into a monthly eating event with people from work at Chima. 5 months and 14lbs later, I had to leave the group for fear of becoming obese.
Chima is fantastic. The selections/cuts of meat are cooked and spiced perfectly. The wave after wave of food is almost dizzying. Good Sangria/mixed drinks, the brazilian beer is meh.
People seem to fall into 2 categories when coming here. Carnivores/Omnivores.
The Carnivores are easy to spot. They never get up from the table, and the serving platters leave empty once they pass by. Carns are here for meat, and they are gonna get as much steak/chicken/lamb as they can. Omnivores are the ones who have to eat whatever else is left and the mega-salad bar. Chima is aw
I took my mom and my 8 year old daughter to Chima for my moms birthday. A friend of mine has recently went and told me how much of a great time she had. So I decided to take my mom so that she could try something different. We had a 7pm reservation and we were seating right on time. We had a wonderful waiter and it also surprised me that not only our waiter made sure we were okay but other waiters made sure everything was fine. The choice in meats were excellent. My daughter really enjoyed being able to choose which meats she wanted. My mom couldn't stop talking about it. We really enjoyed everything about it. It was pricey but I think for the experience, it was well worth it. I will definitely be going back again. Thank you
Chima falls far short of expectations set by its competitors, while being in the same price range. This applies to every aspect of the experience:
- patron dress code (business causal according to the website, less than casual in reality)
- poor reservation coordination (we had to wait 20 min for a table for an 8:30 reservation)
- the food wasn't all that great: every bacon-wrapped dish fell flat because of restaurant used very poorly cured bacon
- three of my top wine choices (overpriced as they were) were sold out
As if that weren't enough, preponderance of large parties with small children and insufficient waitstaff made us feel like we were at the Old Country Buffet.
Everything was exceptional. I contacted them through open table to have a small cake for our anniversary and they surely delivered it with no problem. The reviews from Open table was spot on. Would highly recommend if you are a meat lover, and the salad bar was pretty good too with a large variety of everything not just salad.
