Chima Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
We came because of restaurant week, and no where online or when I called to verify my reservation did they ever tell me that they don't honor restaurant week pricing on Saturday. They did inform as I was checking in and already drove an hour and brought my friends, and already valet parked in front of the restaurant. The hostesses were rude. There were several other people in the bathroom that were complaining about the same thing. Restaurant week is only ONE WEEK... seriously to pick and choose days when you want to participate is ridiculous. Our bill was $370 for 4 people, each of us only got ONE DRINK. It was absurd. The food was good, but seriously... wayyyyy too overpriced. I won't be returning.
Generally good service. Various servers are continually coming by with meats. All the meats weee excellent except for the chicken which was always too dry. The salad bar was well stocked. The staff always courteous. However, we had difficulty at times finding our primary server who took orders for drinks and presented us with the bill. She did bring us, unbidden, a free dessert to celebrate our ocasión. I recommend you eat as little as possible before coming here.
This was my first time there and overall I loved it. I was a little upset that they decided not to do restaurant week on the day I attended and I had made my reservations due to it ring restaurant week. However I still attended and had an amazing time I will surely be attending again.
My husband and I went during restaurant week, Saturday. Found out they do not participate on Saturdays. A little disappointed but we decided to stay anyway. Drinks were really good! So you don’t actually order what you want to eat, they come around with about 15 different steaks, and chicken and salmon, lamb etc. you get to taste everything and we thought this was AWESOME! No way we could taste everything though! Lol we were stuffed! Loved the idea and the tab wasn’t bad at all! Food was really good! I’d say we paid about $200 including our drinks. Only had one a piece! Great place!
Compared to Fogo this place has inferior service, meat quality, and ambiance. They were playing loud pop and rap music with a huge tv in the background where I was sitting. They said that was one of the quiet tables due to the amount of people there. The lighting is not romantic bright white light not soft yellow light . Don’t come here for a date if you want it to be romantic and don’t go here in general if you can go to Fogo de Chão.
Some of the servers were pretty rude, slow service, and when I asked for medium cooked cuts of meat I was given overly well done each time. The manager was apologetic and pleasant offered free desert, but I was very disappointed because this was a special occasion. I have dined at Chimas for years now and felt pretty let down by today’s over all experience unfortunately.
There was a problem with our dinner reservation...the general manager, Marco, was exceptional and resolved the problem quickly. His customer service recovery was immediate and perfect. For the duration of the dinner, he continued to check on us and made us feel like VIPs. He demonstrated professionalism and more than accommodated my family and their needs.
My second time here and still had a great time. The atmosphere was friendly and service was excellent. Wanted to surprise a friend who is always "saving lives". Wanted her to feel as special as she makes others feel and it was accomplished. The food selection was adequate for me; more than enough selections. If you're a carnivore, you'll love this place! So come on out and give CHIMA's a try.
Terrible service as usual. Try getting the regular menu during restaurant week and you get lost in the crowd. Managers apologizing, clueless new server. Sad part is same thing happened the last time during restaurant week.
Fogo de Chão’s B Team. Not bad but not super impressed. Service was really, really slow. Although everyone was very nice, it took about 30 minutes to order dessert and another 30 minutes to get the check. It was also very loud, but that’s probably because it’s restaurant week.
Sitting under an air vent in not pleasing to have hot diner. Waiter was awesome. Meats were flavorful but got cold too fast. Sides were good besided the fried chiquita bananas & small serving of creamy mashed potatoes without a spoon for each individual. Not a good experience.
My friend and I had partook of the Restaurant Week menu, so it was an especially good value. We had both been to Fogo de Chao, which has a similar set up and menu and wanted to compare. I think they are both great. My friend liked Chima better because of the ambiance. (Chima is brighter.) The salad bar was great and we both loved the selection of meats offered. I especially liked the barbecued pork ribs, which I don't recall being offered at Fogo de Chao.
A great date night experience; cheese breads were amazing and the salad bar never disappoints! Of course, the main attraction is the Rodizio and this was also quite good. We chose the (slightly more limited) Restaurant Week menu, and were quite happy with the value.
I would not recommend this establishment. For a Brazilian steakhouse I would refer someone to go to Fogo de Chao for an exceptional dining experience and good quality flavorful food. Chima' s food selection is limited, minimal variety, overpriced bitter drinks and the meat does not circulate at a good pace. The salad bar is fair.
