Chima Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Fogo de Chão’s B Team. Not bad but not super impressed. Service was really, really slow. Although everyone was very nice, it took about 30 minutes to order dessert and another 30 minutes to get the check. It was also very loud, but that’s probably because it’s restaurant week.
My friend and I had partook of the Restaurant Week menu, so it was an especially good value. We had both been to Fogo de Chao, which has a similar set up and menu and wanted to compare. I think they are both great. My friend liked Chima better because of the ambiance. (Chima is brighter.) The salad bar was great and we both loved the selection of meats offered. I especially liked the barbecued pork ribs, which I don't recall being offered at Fogo de Chao.
A great date night experience; cheese breads were amazing and the salad bar never disappoints! Of course, the main attraction is the Rodizio and this was also quite good. We chose the (slightly more limited) Restaurant Week menu, and were quite happy with the value.
I would not recommend this establishment. For a Brazilian steakhouse I would refer someone to go to Fogo de Chao for an exceptional dining experience and good quality flavorful food. Chima' s food selection is limited, minimal variety, overpriced bitter drinks and the meat does not circulate at a good pace. The salad bar is fair.
My friends raved about this place so I thought I would try it with my boyfriend. Unfortunately the food was only ok. The staff that served the meats we're friendly but the waitresses themselves weren't as friendly to the girls. I'm not sure if it's because they thought the guys would pay but I didn't like the treatment I got.
The ambiance is pleasant and the service is very good. The salad bar is very good. There is a wide variety of meat but the quality is not as good as it could be. The salmon is good and there is chicken, lamb, and pork for those who don't eat red meat. The only Brazilian dessert offered was terrible--three overly sweet pasty puddings.
Chima is the best the noise level is always low and you never wait on meat 🍖🥩 it comes as fast as you can decide what kind you want on your plate and it taste wonderful I especially love the warm pineapple 🍍 the cinnamon Just gives it that extra kick! I would recommend this place to everyone no matter the occasion it’s worth every penny!
It was my second time coming to Chima . The first time was the second week they opened so it’s been a while . It was a great experience for my girlfriend who has never been there . She already wants to go back . The only draw back was the difference in price from online and the bill . But since it was a holiday it was understandable.. will definitely go back
Our table was seated in between two larger tables, and both of those tables seemed to get the most attention from servers and Gauchos. We weren't presented with meat options for nearly 15 minutes after signaling, and then it was only after the tables around us were given first selection. It was clear that someone realized we were neglected, because we were suddenly approached by many (presumably in an effort to correct the mistake).
Their cuts of meat were solid, but not spectacular. They'll initially approach you with lesser cuts of meat, as if they're hoping you'll fill up on chicken or sausage first. Servers were attentive with fresh plates and refills of water and they mostly had a friendly demeanor.
Aside from being neglected for long stretches, it was a mediocre experience overall.
What I tried was delicious but waitstaff(not my waitress) took away the cards to get more food when he took our plates
Also my 14 year old son went to the salad bar and had Caesar salad and 2 tomatoes and 2 different meats from 2 different gentleman which was bite size and that was it
I don’t understand why a 14 year old is charged as an adult
At Fogo which is similar my 14 year old is charged the child price
Chima USED to be our favorite restaurant, but not any more... sadly...I still loved the food , ambiance and everything else but service.. actually I have to say valet parking and hostess-our waiter was great. Yesterday we did not see the valet parking guy so I had to look for one(it was super cold),, finally my husband(the driver had to get out of the car and looked for one-still did not see), so I ran inside to ask. The hostess said "oh they are on 20th st. because of the truck.. so we went to 20th st.. could not find.. my husband drove around 3times and finally found him but the guy said it would take a long time to find the car anyway so my husband should park the car and they would make it complementary... so finally my husband parked the car, but later we had to pay $7. I don't know why the guy said it is complementary... Both valet parking guy and hostess gave us wrong information about where is valet parking guy and parking fee..
I expected better. We had 8pm reservations and arrived on time. I felt we were rushed through our dinner and for almost 60 dollars per person service should have be better. Also I had to walk to my car even though complimentary valet service was offered. That’s the point of valet. I will not be returning here again. Christmas dinner fail!
We dined at Chima because it was open on Christmas - me of the few places in center city. My wife and I accompanied by our ten year-old grandson, who is a somewhat picky eater. He tried several new foods there. My wife and I loved the top sirloin, leg of lamb and filet mignon. We will certainly return. I loved my caipirinha cocktail which I just can't find in central PA.
