We had an excellent experience from the time we were seated until the time we left. Our servers were exceptional and the food came frequently. The food was excellent as well. To end the evening, my daughter left her purse on her chair and they chased us down to return it to us. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Chima's Restaurant was great in all respects. I have eaten same style restaurants in Brazil, San Francisco and other cities. Chima's restaurant ranked at top in terms of service, food and ambiance.
My boyfriend and I brought in my parents for their first Chima experience and the entire night was simply perfect. From the food to the service my parents loved absolutely everything. Their only issue was the noise level. My father is hard of hearing so it was sometimes difficult for him to here, but other than that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
This was our 28th Anniversary dinner. The meat selection was great. The Lamb Chops and the Filet Mignon were excellent. The service was great. The only thing that ruined it was a young lady that was celebrating her birthday with too much to drink accompanied with a very loud personality. Sitting at the table in front of us with her in that seat facing our table. She left and there was a moderate amount of crowd noise that seemed like silence. Otherwise a 5 star rating.
Good but food did not move around room quick
Me and my parents ate here for my dad's birthday last night, but we should've gone down the street to Ruth's Chris or The Capital Grille to get much better food at a cheaper price. I have no idea how this place is rated a 4.4. I expected for this place to be upscale and provide us with a nice dining experience, but it was far from that.
First of all, the "salad" bar is absolutely terrible. There was literally two types of salad and the rest of the bar was filled with a bunch of random crap that they want you to fill up on.
When they started bringing around the meats, it was another letdown. When you're paying $60 a person, everything should be of the highest quality. That was not the case here. To be honest, I said no to most of the meats they brought around because they just didn't look good. I don't want to pay that much money to eat pork loin and beef pork ribs. I only saw them take the filet around two times the entire time we were there. They brought the filet to our table once, and it was not impressive at all. All of the steaks they brought out were extremely undercooked. They only offer it to you medium or medium rare. I typically get my steak cooked medium, but their version of medium is medium rare at the most. The "sides" that they bring out to you are disgusting as well. The "creamy mashed potatoes" were like a gravy. The two best things I had the entire night were the fried banana and the grilled pineapple.
Besides the food being terrible, the noise level was out of control. So many people eating there brought their kids and just let them run around the place like wild hyena's. I don't care if people bring their kids to a restaurant, but when you are paying that much to eat somewhere that is supposed to be nice it shouldn't feel like an upscale Chuck E. Cheese.
If you care more about quantity than quality, then this is the place for you. Needless to say, after getting ripped off and paying $275 including tip... I won't be back!!
The food was great ! However the overall experience not so much. I came all the way from Greensboro NC (1 hr 40 mins away from Chimas) We wasted 20 minutes trying to find complimentary parking provided by Chimas. Finally we pulled up out front and told the Valet guy that we aren't going to be able to eat if we don't go in because the last seating is at 9:30 and it was 9:22 ! He acted as is he couldn't walk a few steps to get my car and park it. The way you have to get to the valet area is complicated. Luckily it was an open parking spot across the street. Finally we go in and get seated and immediately go to the salad bar. As soon as we sat down the meats started coming non stop and it was confusing because none of or cards were flipped on the orange side. So a manager came and asked how was everything and I told him it's our first time and that we don't understand why they keep coming when our chips say no thank you. They stopped for awhile then they kept coming. Come to find out the kitchen was closing and we were being rushed. I don't care what time you close if I'm paying nearly $100 for a meal I expect it to be everything from the service to the food ETC. They got at least $250+ from my table. Although this happened I will definitely go again because the food was delicious but I'll never go that late again because I wasn't able to fully enjoy it with all that happened.
Have been at least 10x but this was the least enjoyable. Wait staff was good but Gouchos and the food were not up to par.
The quality of the food was impeccable!!! I’ve been to many Brazilian steakhouses (Fogo De Chao, Rainhas, Plataformas, etc...) Chima ’s is the best one!
Great experience. It was a very busy weekend in Charlotte, (CIAA) and Chima’s was very busy. But they did a great job accommodating our group of 10. Food was phenomenal and service was great. (I’m still full)
We came to celebrate my cousin’s birthday and had asked for a booth as a special request. I had been there before and had the best experience ever but was a bit disappointed on the organization this time before and after our wonderful meal.
We arrive there and normally, there’s Valet parking staff waiting; Not this time. There’s no signage or anything stating there was no valet parking we arrived. I called while waiting a couple of minutes and a young lady answers the phone. The young lady first said there should be someone there to help me, but I informed her there wasn’t. She puts me on hold and confirms with her manager to inform me they have cancelled Valet Parking all weekend due to the special event uptown. I proceed to ask where we should park and suggests the First national bank across the street and I ask about parking validation and confirms they would do it this time due to no Valet parking being available.
Once we finally make it to the restaurant we want to go upstairs to get a drink at the bar, but are told there’s a guest list to get in... so we cannot stay at the bar upstairs before our reservation. The hostess tells us we can be seated immediately instead and get a drink at our table. We proceed to be seated in the middle of the restaurant by the food bar, not the booth I had requested.
The food was definitely as delicious as I remember it, and the wait staff is always on point and are quick to come offering meat.
As I leave to go get the car from the suggested parking deck I bring my parking pass to the hosts and I’m told they do not validate parking... I’m not sure who was misinformed but the host and the manager definitely made me feel like a fool when I told them what the young lady had said over the phone. These may be little things but definitely wasn’t what I expected my cousins birthday dinner to be like from start to finish at Chima.
We were here for our second time. We had a great time. The food was so good. I fell in love with the grilled pineapple and cinniman. Our server was great , she got us everything we needed and was very good at suggestive selling. We will be back
I’ve read a lot of complaints about the “cold beans at the salad bar” and the “dry chicken” etc....ITS A STEAKHOUSE PEOPLE, Chima has some of if not the absolutely best steak in Charlotte. Their top sirloin is incomparable and their filet medallions are to die for. As for those complaining about “dry steak” they needed to douse in sauce, maybe you should quit ordering super well done cuts and then you’d be able to enjoy the meat for what it is.
My husband and I first tried Chima's for my birthday then went again just for a date night. First time was delicious and second time, we noticed a few changes, but it was just as good.
I loved how attentive and patient our waitress was. It was our first time so she really made sure that we were comfortable with the overall experience. The food was really good and we had a great time trying lots of new things. The filet mignon was my favorite. However, I did think it was a little bland. I felt like I had to use a sauce for everything. Overall, we had an amazing time and really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for helping us kick off our memorable night.
Bad service and over priced. Will never come here again.
Had a excellent time. Our first time at the restaurant. Staff was great the food was amazing. So many options on both the salad bar (which is way more than just salad) and the meat options coming around. Can’t say enough great things of this establishment.
Awesome place to eat at!!! It is a little costly, but worth every penny. I went with my husband and mother to celebrate an anniversary. The ambiance it’s great and welcoming. The staff is great, Emma and Christina provided great services.
Good place to treat yourselves and be glutinous! Varieties of meats and their preparation and presentation is great. Prices are steep for every weekend dining! Great place to go for a change in pace!
Really good place
I rated the overall experience poor only because the cost of the meal is too expensive for the quality and preparation of food and service we received.
There’s nothing finer than the beef prepared at Chima. Mouthwateringly seasoned and sliced from the portion of the cut to your preference (from well done to rare). Great place to try alternative non-beef meats and fish as well. The salmon and chicken were average tasting, but the lamb was outstanding. The Portuguese cheese bread is heaven to your tastebuds, but save room for the puréed mashed potatoes, polenta and cinnamon pineapple slices that are delivered to your table in addition to the ~40 or so side dishes at the buffet. It’s a feast fit for royalty. Go hungry because you don’t want to miss out on any of it.
Great time! Great food!
Difficult to get the filet back to the table . Wait for food, red meat Other than flank steak was too long.
Nice atmosphere, way overpriced for the quality of the food! Have dropped over 100.00 at many other restaurants for dinner for two that was head and shoulders above what we got from Chima! It was overall just ok, no wow factor whatsoever. When we return to Charlotte for another night on the town, we will not be returning to Chima....
Very nice restaurant
Food was not great. Filet mignon pieces were overdone and under seasoned, pork loin dry, pork ribs tough to chew and over cooked, salmon dry and overcooked, chicken under seasoned. Sounds great and pictures look great, but food underwhelming for the price. Flank steak was good as well as the pineapple. Overall-Disappointed.
Made a reservation expecting our table to be ready when we arrived. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Servers were great to start off but towards the end of our meal they seemed preoccupied with everyone else. They did come to say that they were catering to those guests that were headed to the theater to help get them there on time. Regardless we were all paying customers.
I celebrated my bday here and loved the atmosphere. The salad bar could have been better though.
It was my first time visiting there and I was extremely impressed and pleased with the food and the staff. Everyone was very friendly and the place is beautiful. I tried new foods, enjoyed a drink and had a great time with my dining companions, I will definitely be back!
Great food and great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.
Had an awesome time. Our waiters were very polite and very outgoing. Made us feel like comfortable and let’s not forget the food is awesome.
Everything was good until the end. Felt like we were being pushed out the door by the manager.
Very good food and service it was mine and my boyfriends first time in an upscale restaurant and it was awesome we were very pleased
Food was great! Service was great! Wait time for my reserved table was a little long about 30 minutes but other than that you should definitely try this place!
Had a wonderful time and wonderful food. My son enjoyed a little bit of everything for his birthday!
We went to Chima for Valentine’s Day and really enjoyed our experience. The food was great and the service was what we were expecting. The price we paid for the Valentine’s Day special didn’t really equal to what we though the experience should be. We plan to visit Chima again during regular dinner hours, at regular menu price and fully expect that to be worth the price. Overall, I would recommend Chima to friends and family.
We went out for Valentine's Day with our two oldest children and two grandchildren which were 2 and under. The food was absolutely delicious, my favorites were the bacon wrapped chicken, ribeye steak and the seafood salad from the salad bar. I liked that the wait staff were working together to make sure everyone had what they needed. My only issue I noticed, there was gratuity included on the bill, we actually were going to leave a larger tip, but my husband was perplexed on why considering we only had 4 people eating.
Me and my brother brought our fiances here for there first time and we waited a long time just to get the food started....Also the beans and rice were cold so it didnt go good with the meat..i love coming here but the service was really poor this time..and we got tge Calentines package and never recieved our 25 dollar gift card
The food was great. The main waiter was forgetful. The ladies assisting the dining room were extremely helpful and prompt. The ONLY thing we would suggest is attention to table tops that rock. We thought the whole table was rocking when we cut the steak but it was just the table top. Otherwise, excellent experience!
