Chima Steakhouse - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
We went to Chima for Valentine’s Day and really enjoyed our experience. The food was great and the service was what we were expecting. The price we paid for the Valentine’s Day special didn’t really equal to what we though the experience should be. We plan to visit Chima again during regular dinner hours, at regular menu price and fully expect that to be worth the price. Overall, I would recommend Chima to friends and family.
We went out for Valentine's Day with our two oldest children and two grandchildren which were 2 and under. The food was absolutely delicious, my favorites were the bacon wrapped chicken, ribeye steak and the seafood salad from the salad bar. I liked that the wait staff were working together to make sure everyone had what they needed. My only issue I noticed, there was gratuity included on the bill, we actually were going to leave a larger tip, but my husband was perplexed on why considering we only had 4 people eating.
Me and my brother brought our fiances here for there first time and we waited a long time just to get the food started....Also the beans and rice were cold so it didnt go good with the meat..i love coming here but the service was really poor this time..and we got tge Calentines package and never recieved our 25 dollar gift card
The food was great. The main waiter was forgetful. The ladies assisting the dining room were extremely helpful and prompt. The ONLY thing we would suggest is attention to table tops that rock. We thought the whole table was rocking when we cut the steak but it was just the table top. Otherwise, excellent experience!
Booked for Valentines Day, which was fixed price $90 per person before tax/tip so the final charge was around $240. At that price, we were hoping for the best. On the plus side, we were seated close to our reservation time (which usually does not happen there), perhaps because of the early time I selected. I came mainly for 2 things: bacon-wrapped filet and salmon. Astoundingly, after 1.5 HOURS, we saw no trace of either. Instead, we were constantly being offered much cheaper meats, such as sausage, chicken, and the flank steak (4x each). When a staff member asked if we were waiting on something particular, I stated I would like bacon-wrapped filet medium rare. I then excused myself for a moment, returning to find 2 chunks of meat on my plate. It was regular filet (not bacon wrapped) and nowhere near medium rare (closer to well done). So when the server returned, I repeated that I had asked for bacon-wrapped filet medium rare. About 10 min later, someone arrived, saying, "Here is your medium bacon-wrapped filet." I asked if he had medium rare instead. He said he would go cook some. I tried to stop him because at that point I would have taken anything, but he was gone. Finally about 15 min after that, it arrived, but by that time I had lost my appetite. I nevertheless ate what was served, though overcooked--not med rare. Finally, were ready for dessert, which we decided to take to-go. To my amazement, it took half an hour to get the desserts from the time we ordered them. The server said our order had "gotten lost." These are clearly pre-made desserts so I don't know how it could have taken more than a minute, even if they had lost the ticket. Just stick it in a box and go. The sever recognized the repeated problems so did offer an extra glass of champagne while we continued to wait for dessert; I declined but date accepted. He also gave us a bonus $25 gift card for the trouble, which was nice because I never complained or asked for any compensation.
Amazing food, but poor management of neighboring tables. Kids running everywhere and caused waiters to drop trays of food. Kids were also very loud screaming around the restaurant while parents sat back and laughed. Wish management would have intervened, this would have made a much better dinner for many people.
All it was a wonderful experience the service wait staff was very attentive the food was really great! The only knock was the upstairs bar girls were somewhat rude and seemed too ignore patrons wanting to purchase a drink. They quickly looked ones up but once they made eye contact with you they looked the other way.
I went for a pre-Valentine’s dinner and so glad I chose this place. It was plenty of seating, very intimate and romantic. The food was amazing. The waiters continued to offer us food as long as our card was turned over. They gave us privacy when needed. I would definitely come back. It is pricey so you do need to be prepared for that but it’s worth it.
This was my first time and my husband and I went there to celebrate my birthday and Valentine's Day. The personnel were super friendly and helpful. They brought me a Tiramisu cake with a candle which was a surprise and made me so happy. Thank you Chima-Charlotte for the great experience :)
I am a repeat diner at Chimas. Never had service issues until this visit. Because we were a party of 6 and gratuity is automatically added, he did not feel he needed to serve us. We had to ask other servers to refill our drinks, had to go to the salad bar to get clean plates. The food however was amazing as it always is. We ended up asking for the automatic gratuity to be removed so that we could leave a smaller tip due to service.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS PLACE ! THE AMBIENCE WAS AMAZING, SERVICE WAS TREMENDOUS, PRICE WAS PERFECT, MY DATE LOVED IT, IT'S A GRAND SLAM RESTAURANT... only knock it can be a bit crowded but I'm sure I went during a peak time, but they kept the food coming... 10 out of 10
This steakhouse did not disappoint! My wife and I visited this steakhouse and was impressed all the way around. The staff are super professional and high class. The waiters were amazing making sure we had everything we needed without being at our table too much. Very classy, food is tasty, and the overall experience was marvelous!
We had a couple of long days at the boat show, and decided to eat here on a friday night. I literally still had my backpack on from the day, and our group (only 5) had a few taller guys. They were VERY accommodating. The drink service was fast and tasty. The food was fantastic, and the service was even better!
Seating was slow; arriving minutes early and lots of empty tables, 3-4 hostesses at reception. Backed up quickly.
Service attention was lacking; empty of water too long, not refilled even once.
Did not realize from OpenTable listing that this is a “Brazilian” , one-price steak house. No menu selection except drinks and desserts.
Overall the experience was pleasant, some of the meat cuts could have been more flavorful, the leg of lamb was a little bit tough. But not to bad since you have multiple selections to choose from. I have been to a few other Brazilian steakhouses around the country, and this was not the best but definitely nowhere near the worst. I would return, maybe sometime next year when I am in the mood to have a carnivores feast.
This was my 3rd visit to Chima - Charlotte and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. Our reservation was for a party of 3 at 7 PM and we weren't seated until 7:25. At 7:15 I inquired at the desk about the delay, and a moment later my email pinged with a "seated confirmation" from OpenTable, so the hostess checked us off as seated but actually left us waiting in the lobby for another 10 minutes. Our main server seemed to be having an rough day, and was curt and inattentive throughout the entire meal (to their credit, the bussers seemed to try and make up for it). After the salad bar, our entire table sat with empty plates in front of us for more than 10 minutes before the first server with meat actually arrived. Finally, as we were eventually leaving after dinner, a server chased us down in the lobby, saying that they forgot to charge us for a $10 glass of wine and had to rerun the credit card. All in all, a very disappointing evening.
We were at Chima for a 17th Birthday. We were seated at a round table for 10, even though we only had 5. Made conversation between the group impossible . The restaurant is VERY loud with quite a few crying babies and toddlers at 7:00 on a weeknight. Servers were friendly, but not attentive with drinks. Salad bar is a buffet of separate salads...not a traditional salad bar, but it was good. Food was decent. I think over-priced but it’s an “experience “ kind of restaurant. It’ll likely be a “one and done” for our family. I think for the price, a traditional steakhouse would have a better quality of food. White linens were a nice touch. Attractive restaurant but HUGE salad bar in the middle of the restaurant is kind of weird.
