Chima Steakhouse - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
While the food is delicious and the atmosphere lively, I have to say I’m very disappointed in the way prices are represented. $35 for queen’s feast, great value! But then $18 for a bottle of sparkling water, are you kidding me!!! Not even the Ritz Carlton charged that much for a bottle of San Pellegrino. Then on the receipt you’re “suggested tips” are way over calculated, I’m not sure if this is because we split our bill or because you’re trying to squeeze every penny you can out of people going out for Queen’s Feast but if you decide to participate, accept the fact that you may be offering you’re services at a discounted rate and not try to find other ways to make up the costs.
We were really disappointed in the meat selection. There were a few things we only saw once (lamb and steak) while others were offered way too many times (very dry Parmesan pork). My friend sat with her plate empty for ten or more minutes while we saw waiters walking around with meat but they never visited our table. We always had at least one chip flipped to say yes to the meat but were rarely visited. My friend’s husband even had to wave his chip at a waiter to get him to come over. He also had to ask for the chicken to be brought by. While the place was beautiful it was so loud we couldn’t hear our waiter. Overall I was disappointed in the experience for such a pricy meal.
The food, like always was great! The service on the other hand was NOT! I am use to getting my drink refilled and checked on. In addition when I get a new plate goto bar when u get back my dirty plate is gone. O had to take my plate to the server to make room at the table. It was truly horrible. I will not discredit the restaurant for the poor service. Everything else met expectations.
My family wanted to try a Brazilian steakhouse for dinner during Queen's Feast week and celebrate our younger son's birthday. Chima did not disappoint! From the vast selection on their salad bar to the delicious meats carved table side, we look forward to dining at Chima again!!
First of all, we have been to Chima before and really enjoyed our meals. Saw where it was on the Queen's Feast and thought with the value of same verses regular prices, it would be nice place to have dinner with a few family and friends, our treat. I read where the entrée selection was reduced in lieu of the reduced price. I certainly understood this by all means. I also want to point out, that I didn't initiate this review and wasn't about to take time to complain, but since I was asked to review.... Our service re: waiter was very good. However, I was quite disappointed in the entrées that were presented by the gauchos. Even on the reduced menu there very various items that listed as being on the Queen's Feast menu that never came by our table, such as bbq ribs and sausage to name a couple. We then sat there for about the last 10 minutes with no offerings whatsoever, even though no one's tokens had been turned over to cease serving. One of the ladies even went back to the salad bar. I wasn't about to make a scene and ask, therefore embarrassing our guest, but I wondered silently as to where they had disappeared? Our server saw no one was eating, asked about dessert and presented our bill. I paid and we left. Again, don't get me wrong, the food we had was very good. I was just very disappointed in the lack of being offered entrées. I'm not sure if the staff was overwhelmed, as both dining rooms appeared to be full, but with the amount of money I spent even with the Queen's Feast discount, it was a disappointing meal. Not what I have come to expect from Chima.
Wow, the food was amazing and plentiful. I only go to this fine restaurant during Queen's Feast when they have the $35 special, but this year I splurged on the Full Rodizio. I so enjoyed every meat offered, but the lamb chops and rib eye steak, and beet quino were truly scrumptious This restaurant is by far the best value of all the restaurants participating in Queens Feast!
Food tasted great and overall had a good experience. Only complaint was being seated between a bunch of tables so the food barely got to us in the beginning. Once those tables cleared we finally got to taste more but missed out on some ribs that never came back. So try to get a table around their main walking path to have a better overall experience.
I would say overall it was different and good. Food was good and the service was ok. We were seated 15 min after our reservation, the bartenders were very unfriendly, our server was sweet but seemed tired and very busy. We were seated next to a serving station where the wait staff talked about other customers... but in there defense it was very busy... not sure we will go back.
Chima is good. Went here for restaurant week. The sides and the the appetizers were extremely underwhelming. The meats are fantastic. Salad bar is great. I was very disappointed in the appetizer and the sides. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a regular buffet, and the fried polenta was extremely bland. Next time, I think they need to change the menu. Living on just the performance of the meat alone is what made my meal good, not great.
Chimas was experiencing a particularly busy night this night. It was the first weekend of Charlotte’s Queen Feast however. Our reservations were set for 7:15pm. Upon arrival the reception told us there was a possible 30-45 minute wait due to people leisurely sitting at their tables and chatting after their meals. Our wait ended up only being about 10 minutes. As they say, good things come to those that wait...our service and meal were great.
We were really excited to try out Chima, but were unfortunately disappointed with our experience. The meat was extraordinary salty and had little else in the way of seasoning. It was also very overcooked and dry. For a restaurant that is honestly all about different cuts of protein, we were not pleased with the meal and actually enjoyed the salad bar more than the main course. In addition, the drinks we received from the bar tasted watered down. It's definitely more for the experience of dining there and not the quality of meal you receive.
I have mixed emotions on Chima. I recently went during Restaurant Week and was very disappointed. We had a reservation, but they told us we would need to wait 30 minutes for a table. Why have a reservation if that's the case? They said they were very busy because of restaurant week. Ok, then plan reservations better-you've been participating in this program for quite some time now, so you know how busy it gets. Their solution? Have a seat at the bar and we'll come get you. That's how they make their money since they are charging half the normal price for dinner. I complained vehemently until they sat us right then. The noise was ridiculous-didn't really get to interact with our party. The women's bathroom was unbelievable. Toilet paper rolls on floors, trash baskets overflowing, water splattered everywhere. I would not expect that of such a high caliber restaurant. I think their mentality was just "pack 'em in and have 'em drink" for restaurant week. I have been one other time, and it was an excellent experience. That said, I doubt I would ever go back during restaurant week, despite the "value." I expect MUCH more of a restaurant like that. Service and food are always excellent, regardless of time you go.
We have dined here several times and our experience had been great. However, Saturday night was not a pleasant one. We had to get our waiter to steer the food to our table. The chicken was very dry, service was terrible. Although our personal waiter was great, the guys serving the meats only serviced the outside tables, our table was in the middle upstairs. Very disappointed with our experience this time. However, with that being said, it was the beginning of restaurant week and I'm sure it was hectic.
Didnt see the server but every 15-20 minutes. The meat took at least 30 minutes from us going to the salad bar to come out. And since when do they charge for a refill Brazilian limeade. I used to work there 4 years ago and it seems that their service standards have dwindled. There used to be two servers per table but we only saw one and he didn’t even pay attention to us.
4/5 stars because valet was backed up and we went for my fiance's birthday, and they forgot/ didn't do anything. Our server was Caleb and it really felt like he didn't care, BUT Sean and Trey (who weren't even on his team) took amazing care of us, Trey was the best server I've ever had. The food was amazing, great variety, great pacing of the meats going around. Thought I loved steak (and still do!) but their lamb made me reevaluate my entire life. It was the absolute best. And Trey asked us if we had any special meat requests and when they came back out with the lamb the gentleman gave me extra servings. Would highly recommend. Ask for Trey and Sean.
The food is great. The variety of meats they bring to the table is delicious. I didn’t like the salmon. One of the meat selection was very salty. I love the lamb with the mint jelly. It was great. It was my birthday and the staff was awesome they came out with a cheesecake with a candle. I thought was nice. Only thing I hate about this place was as much you spent here you can’t take nothing home. I barely ate my food and a lot was left. For as much you spend you deserve to take it home!
I was disappointed because I was waiting for my table for 40 min. I went to reception and they didn't call my name. When we asked for an order it took a while to arrive. The women's restroom was a mess. While walking around the salad bar I almost slipped on a napkin. Despite the rest the food was very good in taste and variety.
