Our server was excellent and the food was delicious! We each had different ravioli dishes (pasta is made in house) which were excellent. We are
Asheville residents and think this is one of the best restaurants in town.
Food was really good; we ordered the eggplant napolitano and it was excellent. We also ordered two pasta dishes to split; the penne with the red tomato gravy with beef was really delicious, but the basil pesto in comparison was lacking a bit. Still good, just not nearly as good as the tomato sauce. The only problem we had was with the service- might have just been an off night for our waiter, but he entered the wrong dish in the computer so one of the dishes they brought over was not the correct one. We ate the penne while waiting on the oricchiette with the basil pesto. Not a huge deal, he even offered us a complimentary dessert to make up for it. However, it took 3 tries to get a dessert that they had available (added about a 20 minutes of back and forth). Oh well. The food was good!
Great beet salad and the tomato gravy on the ravioli was to die for. A great neighborhood restaurant with great service. Had a new very good Zinfandel.
Good not great. Lots of other options in town. Very nice service from Patrick
Very friendly staff, fantastic food. Would absolutely recommend.
Busy weekend put us at the bar. Turned out in our favor. The bartender was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Wine recommendation was great as was the branzino fish special that night. Pasta had great texture and the tomato sauce was super. Owner came over to chat and make us fell at home as well. Would go back again.
The pasta is authentically delicious! Wow. — Haven’t had pasta that comes close since our time in Assisi, Italy. — Not even in Rome. It doesn’t stop there, the people working at Chiesa are friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is top notch with a great story to the building. We loved our whole experience at Chiesa.
As always, Chiesa did not disappoint. I had the mushroom pasta dish with the mushrooms having been picked that day.
Best pasta this side of Italy and even better than some we had there.
We were in town for the weekend only. I stumbled across Chiesa through a google search while looking for a special restaurant to treat my mother and aunt for our Mother's Day weekend. Chiesa and their staff were simply amazing. Food was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing. Truly made our weekend in Asheville special and complete. If your debating on where to eat... debate no further. EAT HERE!!!!
Excellent food, excellent staff.
Food was excellent! The waitress was very good. Had a wonderful dinner with my daughter. She also gave the restaurant 5 stars and she does not do that often!! If you haven't been there try it. You will not be disappointed!!
We love this restaurant. Consistently great food and service in a wonderful atmosphere.
The cure for humanity is located at 152 Montford Ave, Asheville, NC 28801 and comes in the form of hand-made pasta. #chiesaforpresident2020
This was such an amazing dining experience! Every bite of food was perfect and our server was amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and classy and I am still thinking about my dish. I can’t wait to go back!
Loved it as always. A little noisy but tolerable. Service was great and friendly. Food was generally well-prepared. Wine choices are great. They could take a little more care assuring the pasta is evenly cooked and not clumped up.
This restaurant is a little gem in an older historic section of Asheville. The pasta is made on the premises and we loved that they also offer spiralized zucchini noodles as a "pasta" option for those of us who love veggies. The scallop with spring pea risotto was delicious, as was the cauliflower appetizer. Yummy spumoni for desert capped off a very enjoyable meal.
I had a reservation for two on the patio for 7pm for an early Mother's Day dinner. When we arrived, (at 6:55), we were told the last table had just been seated on the patio. We were seated inside next to a very loud party, and the restaurant appeared to have no AC- we were both sweating. Our server began out very friendly as we started our meal by ordering a bottle of wine and multiple appetizers. As the meal went on, however, he began to be increasing rude to the point of tossing our salad plates onto the table and having an attitude. I ordered risotto and my mother ordered the carbonara. The pasta was LOVELY! Wonderfully soft but chewy, absolutely great. It was very dry with little sauce, but still very tasty. The risotto, pictured, looked and tasted exactly like the beans and rice you would receive at a Mexican restaurant. Awful. I asked to exchange it for the carbonara my mother had, and mine came so lathered in sauce it was more like a soup. Not that I'm complaining- it was delicious, but there was no quality control. The seared scallops we had were lovely, as was the Caesar salad and wine, but it certainly was not an experience worth repeating for the food or the service.
We loved sitting outside in the little patio...great ambience and much quieter than inside. Food was delicious and we appreciated the great service.
Delicious! Charming owner and wait staff!
We were first timers, celebrating our anniversary with friends. The food was delicious and had enough of an update on traditional Italian food to make it more interesting. My shrimp scampi was very unusual with an Asian twist and so flavorful. All the homemade pastas were light and tender. Dessert- blueberry bread pudding with Madagascar ice cream outstanding. Only cons were noise level and a somewhat manic though very friendly waitress. Prices were very reasonable. We will be back
I have been to Chiesa many times and have not had anything but an excellent experience. My husband and I choose Chiesa's first, as it is a sweet smaller sized restaurant in the Montford section of town. The food is delicious, the service is personal and the owner is caring and clearly enjoys taking care of others. Enjoy!
The Mediterranean Pasta is wonderfully flavored and delicious!
The food was excellent. The owner came over and chatted a bit. It was nice.
This, as well as previous experiences, make me say to myself, what a special treat. When I taste the lemon martini , mmmm. The mussels in white wine sauce with crostini on the side— perfection. Your waitperson will guage the speed at which you wish to dine perfectly.
I don’t know the name of the ingredient that was so special in my salad this visit, but it was just like my favorite restaurant in Florence.
I have always wanted to taste the perfect alfredo- it happened at Chiesa!!! This was set aside a delicious filet mignon— yet the little additions around the steak made it all taste not heavy... I walked away feeling really good!!! We closed with a homeade I believe fruit and prosecco sorbet-
My favorite restaurant -
Great experience. Great food. Great staff. Owner sat with my family and gave us a brief history of the building and how the restaurant started. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Loved the Gavi, delicious. Great charcuterie! Spinach ravioli was superb. Though I prefer a less sweet red sauce, everyone has their own preference in this arena. My Italian husband was not crazy about cheese inside his meatballs. Again, his mother’s and mine don’t have cheese inside. Tradition! Thanks for a great meal.
Delicious food. Amazing service. Will definitely return!
Chiesa is one of our favorites. Our most recent meal was excellent. Both entres were great. The beet salad was amazing, and the bread pudding knocked our socks off. Great work!
Outstanding food. Service was attentive but a bit slow. Nonetheless, Chiesa remains our favorite choice of Italian restaurants in Asheville.
Delightful, intimate restaurant with outstanding dishes coming out of the efficient kitchen. Take visiting out-of-towners as they always deliver on food and service! Highly recommend!
The place was packed so we sat at the bar where Brian did a great job taking care of us. Excellent recommendations and wine selections. Go and enjoy. We'll be back often.
One of our favorite places to go on a date
Wowowowow! Came here via recommendation from a friend- did not disappoint! Stuffed meatballs for appetizer, beet salad and fresh made ravioli. Tiramisu to go. Attentive service, owner chatted and beamed with pride, as he should. I don’t have anything else to add that hasn’t been stated in the other positive reviews- go and enjoy the awesome food!!!!
Good Italian. Fresh pasta. Nice ambiance.
Somewhat pricey for value.
Excellent food in an interesting setting. The service was great. Thoroughly enjoyable dinner.
As always very good service and the mussels and eggplant Parmesan were outstanding. One of these days I will have to try something else . The desserts are always very good.
We loved our anniversary dinner at Chiesa! Would definitely go again.
We loved the restaurant! The staff were very attentive and gave excellent suggestions. I had the meatballs in red gravy. Although tasty, I feel a bit more oregano would have made this dish really sing. There was just a little less Italian seasoning than what we're used to in Houston. And it might be a geographical difference also. I will definitely return to sample other dishes.
