Delicious meal and cozy atmosphere. Would highly recommend and definitely will be back!
Everything was excellent for the service to the food and ambiance. Great evening.
We went based on a recommendation from a co-worker. It was fantastic. The restaurant occupies an old church and has an awesome vibe. Redemption cocktail was really nice....Makers Mark, grapefruit juice and a honey syrup. We had the Veal ravioli, meatballs and the carbonara pasta. All were really good. The sauce on the veal ravioli was a non traditional red/cream based sauce but you could taste a hint of lemon or citrus in it. Wow! The bread pudding was also fantastic. I will be back on future trips to Asheville.
This was our first time at Chiesa, and since we are local, we will definitely come back. Quality and presentation of the food was excellent, and taste was outstanding. Certainly not ordinary Italian fare! Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Diverse wine list with reasonable prices. Warm, intimate atmosphere with a neighborhood feel—so nice to feel welcome and special rather than just a number.
We enjoyed our meal. Michael our waiter was great!
The food was amazing. While one of their specialties is pasta, they also allow you the option of zucchini “noodles”. I was thrilled with my dish of those noodles plus sausage sauce with extra vegetables. Everyone at our table loved their dishes. We shall certainly return.
Since the change in ownership, the food is just not what it once was. They are always booked so, perhaps, others disagree.
Can’t beat their meatballs, pasta in red sauce, their scallops and often their stuffed mushrooms.
I fear their pesto as I’ve tried twice and it was much too dry and pasty. Like spreading cement on pasta. They said they’d pass the note to the chef, but I keep waiting to see someone else order it. Their Caesar salad also is too dry and has little flavor.
I will still go, but never on a Monday. The staff and cooks must be different as I was embarrassed by the food. I’d raved and brought guests.
Book ahead as they’re packed, which once didn’t surprise me. Now, it does.
It’s still a good place to go if you know what to avoid. When it’s good, it’s great.
Consistently great food and friendly service in a fun atmosphere! A perennial favorite and an Asheville local gem!
Beautiful food, beautiful service, delightful experience
So glad we chose to come here. It was packed on a Tuesday evening. Glad we made a reservation. It was our anniversary and from the owner to the hostess we were made to feel special. Thank you CHIESA, you’re grand!
What a fantastic evening. Food and service was exceptional. We sat at the bar and chatted with the bar tender Ben and the owner. Will return every time when in Asheville.
Positive atmosphere and happy staff. They were great!
Server was a little distracted...
Food was amazing. Our waiter was actually in the parking lot chasing down someone who left their hat. Could not have had a better experience
Came here to celebrate my friends 30th birthday and we had a great time. Amazing food and really incredible staff!
This was one of our best dining experiences in years. The food was amazing, all of the staff, including the manager, were attentive, friendly, personable, highly accommodating and knowledgeable about their menu and Italian/Sicilian food in general. If we lived in Asheville I guarantee we would return regularly and frequently. I wish they were located in our home town! Ben, our waiter, deserves special kudos for making our experience so enjoyable.
Some of the best Italian food I’ve had, and our experience was exceptional. Willing to take another trip to Asheville just to go to this restaurant again. 12/10 meatballs.
Nice neighborhood spot on vacation, they only had bar seating available for our time slot which seemed more quiet than the restaurant anyway. Homemade pasta was excellent!
Beyond amazing... quaint elegant and delicious .. trifecta of excellence
best restaurant by far in western NC.
Patrick and his team have created a warm friendly and cozy atmosphere with 5 star service and food.. outstanding
Lovely meal....great service.....so nice of Newton to stop by the table.
Delicious! Best food in Asheville!
Although this is only 2/10 of a mile from our house, it is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville. The food is always terrific and Misty, our server, was great. My husband recently became a Vegan, and they had several choices for him. Cozy spot with great food!
Chiesa was a winner....home made pastas, great sauces and good value.
Loved it. Sat at the bar and that's the best seat of the house. Food and service was outstanding!
Loved our evening. Several wines to choose among, great service from Patrick, excellent pasta and a great chat with the owner. Thanks!
Nice neighborhood italian restaurant. Service via Bruce was excellent, timely, and accommodating of our requests. Food was well above average, but of uneven appeal/seasoning. The house-made pasta was a standout.
It was an interesting concept, but a little too full of itself. The food was just okay.
Chiesa just keeps getting better. Food was excellent, service was enthusiastic, and although the noise level was occasionally higher than my aging ears can enjoy, the evening -- overall -- was memorable.
Been there before. Was amazing. Fresh made pasta, delicious sauce. Could not wait to come back and order the same thing. This time however (albeit on a Monday night) the pasta was reheated and sticky and the sauce was over spiced. Others at the table loved their dish. So I’m heading back soon for another try.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday here tonight and after 58 years on the planet and being Italian this is the best Italian sausage, meatballs and homemade linguine I ever had. OMG amazing yes! Thank you Mateo all staff members for your outstanding service. We’ll be back for sure!!
Amazing food! The Homemade pasta was incredible and the eggplant appetizer was amazing. I loved the atmosphere, service, everything. I definitely will be back!
Great birthday meal. We were early for our reservation so we were able to enjoy a drink downstairs until our table was ready. Had an incredible meal. Would highly recommend!
We’ve been wanting to try Chiesa for some time, and we were very impressed! Delicious, creative, and the Italian tradition gives it something a little different from the other fine Asheville restaurants we love. It’s a new favorite.
Great dinner at this local gem. Reservation is needed as we tried twice to get in before reserving with open table. Food was awesome, and we enjoyed the wine recommendations from the bar.
What a hidden Asheville gem! We were a party of 9 and running behind from Candlelight Christmas at the Biltmore on a Thursday night. The staff at Chiesa were extremely accommodating and welcoming when we arrived. The restaurant was cozy and charming. The food was scrumptious... from the appetizers to the desserts - and we tested a lot of it! Not a single dish disappointed. We will definitely be back.
This was planned as a friend get-together but when one of our friends got sick, it turned into part one of our anniversary celebration. We’re so glad we decided to keep the reservation. This was only our second visit and we wondered why we hadn’t come back sooner. Food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Thanks to Patrick for taking very good care of us and striking the right balance between attentiveness and allowing the right amount of time for relaxed dining. Cudos too for picking up on our anniversary celebration. During both our visits, the owner, Newton, came by and chatted and we thanked him for implementing a suggestion we made on our first visit. We strongly recommend this stand out, gem of a restaurant. We’ll be back sooner than last time. Thank you!
Food was outstanding as was the service. Busy Thursday night but our table was available timely for our reservation!
Service was abysmal. We never knew who our waitress was - three different persons were involved at different times. We waited a long time for our entrees. In fact, other diners who arrived and ordered after us were served before we were. When we were finished eating, we waited half an hour for a waitress to approach and clear our plates. This was the worst experience we've ever had at Chiesa, and it will be a long time before we think about returning.
The wait staff was great , ambiance superb I had the flounder and found it to be very pedestrian, in fact it was rather plain and not very tasty. My lady and I love your restaurant and when we feel like having a special date we like to have it with you , but we were let down on this occasion .
Excellent all around...service,ambiance and the food was delicious!
