Great authentic food, great service and an opportunity to reward the Chef’s when your meal is finished!
Very rude front desk. Server was good but my penne was very undercooked, way beyond al dente. Sangria was terrible. So was mushroom appetizer. Will not return.
Quaint location, fantastic food, exceptional service
The service was bad. The server couldn’t remember what drink my husband was getting done when she brought it she brought the wrong one. It took over 15 minutes to get a drink. The food was awful. My husband‘s Pasta it was over cooked and the server told him he was going to be getting sausage meatballs in the sauce which didn’t happen and she came out and said oh I’m so sorry I didn’t know then the owner came over and said sorry the service is slow you know it’s hard to get help and maybe you should buy another drink my food was awful it was supposed to be eggplant Parmesan and it was more like fried green tomato, Over fried almost blackened stuck together with a teaspoon of mozzarella to hold it together. It was awful they knew it was awful and did nothing about it. I would not recommend this restaurant
Enjoyed our dinner and the great service. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star experience was 1 under cooked scallop. The pasta here is sublime, the Italian red gravy, chicken carbonara were authentic and incredibly delicious. We will be back for sure.
I was honestly underwhelmed with everything about our experience. Our server seem disinterested and a little annoyed. I was expecting fabulous Italian flavors, but I only tasted salt (and too much of it) in the various items we ordered. I had high hopes because Chiesa was highly recommended, but I'm not sure that I would return. The location is charming and near a lovely neighborhood.
Great team service. Thought out meals were very good.
Very knowledgeable, attentive wait staff. Good wine recommendation. Amazing food, really comfortable atmosphere at a great price.
What a wonderful, fresh meal! My husband and I enjoyed some delicious cocktails and split several small plates. Best part… the Lemon Sponge cake!!! I normally only go for chocolate, but I am so glad we went with the Lemon!
The staff was super friendly and the owner took time to visit with us and make us feel welcome.
I had read great things and we were really looking forward to dining here. Drinks were good. Service was good.
2 of the appetizers were good, the buratta and the seared tuna. Two of the apps were very poor, the mushrooms which were shiitake, and not cooked or seasoned on a frisée salad that had a mediocre balsamic reduction. The Brussels sprouts were soggy, way overcooked and were served on the same balsamic reduction.
Two of the main dishes were good, the ravioli with a meatball and the scallops on polenta. The other 2 main dishes were really poor. The duck was mushy and soggy with unrendered, cold, not crispy fat. Served, you guessed it, on a mediocre balsamic reduction sauce. The grouper which was the house special was way over cooked and dry and totally unseasoned served over a tasteless risotto.
We ended up going elsewhere for dessert. I was super disappointed.
I was surprised by how poor the food was as the reviews were so good. It wasn’t terribly crowded so I don’t think the kitchen staff was pressured.
Delightful "neighborhood" restaurant but is a recurring destination for me, living out of state.
Matt’s service made our visit totally enjoyable and the food was splendid, as advertised!
What a fantastic evening out in Asheville at Chiesa.
Matteo, our server, was terrific with wine recommendations, info on the history of the building and walking us through the menu. He was at our table the perfect amount of time. Love the tiny space and special touches. The food was delightful, service was fantastic and overall space was intimate. Would highly recommend for a regular date night or any special occasion.
First time dining here while in Asheville and it was delicious! We had the chicken Marsala, eggplant Parmesan and carbonara— all excellent dishes! Also, the stuffed meatball appetizer was really great! Service was excellent! Reservations are a must!
Food was fresh and really good.
Staff was amazingly personal and friendly
Croutons on Caesar Salad were stale, hard as rocks. Chicken for the Marsala was dry and absolutely no flavor. Meatballs with the pasta was pasty dry. Fried ravioli was great and so wa the red sauce. Just wondering What the heck went wrong with this fine dining since 2020? You lost my business as it was pure disappointment. Hope you can turn it around whatever is going on in the kitchen.
Our favorite restaurant in Asheville. Great place to take friends for a night out!
Meatball was good. Carbonara was flavorless. Ravioli looked like it was made with wonton wrappers, but sauce was good. Spumoni dessert was good.
Wonderful experience all around. Excellent, creative food, very nice atmosphere, and our server was really great, friendly and very knowledgeable.
More vegetarian choices would be appreciated. It would help give non-veggies more incentive to skip the chickens, cattle and fish.
Fantastic staff! Everything was delicious. Some faves were the tuna carpaccio and eggplant parmesan. Try the Blushing Angel (aperol spritz), and maybe the affogato for dessert!
We had 2 different pasta dishes. One was OK and the other was not hot and noodles stuck together. Mushroom appetizer was unremarkable. Wine list excellent. Staff were A+. Might try again as the first time we ate there it was definitely above average.
As always, the food and service were amazing. But they took extra care of us for our anniversary, which we very much appreciated.
Nice Italian with interesting options…
Friendly staff….parking tricky if you don’t know area.
Loved the brussel sprout appetizer, pasta carbonara, eggplant parmesan, and tiramisu. Only thing I wouldn't recommend is salad with chicken--the chicken was dry.
Great location, excellent service, outstanding food, all make Chiesa an outstanding place for dinner. Highly recommend for a wonderful night out.
We really enjoyed our time here. The food was good & fresh but on top of that the service was amazing. From the host to our server, everyone was so kind. The restaurant is small but it created the perfect intimate vibe. You didn’t feel like you had to yell to talk across the table. When we visit Asheville again this will be somewhere we’ll come back to & tell anyone traveling to do the same!
Superb food and our waiter was outstanding. What a gem we found in Asheville!
Everything was excellent. Good to know this was once a church!
We love Chiesa!
We especially love the lighter than air ravioli.
House made pastas and desserts. Just great meal. Good value. Beautiful neighborhood.
Delicious Italian food and excellent customer service in a renovated old church. If you can get a reservation, make one. You will be glad you did. 🙂
Really amazing food presented in a tasteful, comfortable environment. Parking on the streets around the block, but all are a short walk. The owner and wait staff were incredibly friendly and ready with suggestions. We were celebrating our anniversary and given two glasses of champagne on the house, which was an absolutely lovely touch. If anyone is up for a Michelin star in Asheville, my partner and I (both star gatherers) agreed it would be here.
Michael was a fantastic server and the owner, Newton, took the time to welcome us and have a nice chat. They also recognized my wife’s birthday with a scrumptious piece of lemon cello cake.
Really enjoyed our meal. Matteo was a fantastic server who was very knowledgeable. Cocktails were very good and the wine chosen was 10.
We had been told not to miss going to Chiesa when in Asheville. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. However, the food was fairly average. It was good, but we were expecting so much more flavor and texture.
Great meal. Thank you.
Food was excellent as always at Chiesa. Service was a bit slow but we now expect that at restaurants as they reopen after the COVID shut down. The server was knowledgeable and friendly.
MichaelAnn offered us amazing service! Our meals were delicious as always.
Our food (tomato & coconut rose, basil and pistachio pesto) and drinks (resurrection) were delicious! Our server, Mateo, was excellent as well. We had a great experience there.
