My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here. The service was amazing and they made us feel special by writing a note to us on their menu board congratulating us. Our server was great and the owner, Newton, gave us individualized attention educating us about wine and providing samples of some of his favorites along with entertaining stories. The food was better than expected and the atmosphere was relaxing with beautiful artwork hung on the walls. I am so grateful we chose Chiesa for our anniversary dinner. My wife and I left happy and with a grater appreciation for fine wine.
Our second visit - each has been great. The place is noisy. We shall return!
Best eggplant parm we’ve ever had, including Italy
Very romantic pleasant atmosphere the food was absolutely delicious.
A perfect cozy spot for our Anniversary dinner. Delicious food with great service! Highly recommend!
Book in advance. Was delicious had the spinach and cheese ravioli with the red gravy meat. Would definitely come back.
Fantastic Asheville spot! Food and service are incredible.
Service was great, cozy restaurant for a quick Italian meal
Chiesa is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville. Food is always good and service is very positive and attentive.
Great food and ambiance. a little too loud.
We'll definitely return
Good Italian food. Enjoyed the Italian sausage balls. Lots of choices. Owner very accommodating. You won’t be disappointed.
First impression, great. Service, great. Food,, stuffed mushrooms. sauce cold. Owner came over, apologized. Made amends. Main course excellent. Was given dessert Overall, good place.
Sat at the bar for dinner. Great idea! Excellent service from Amy. Food was delicious and not heavy. Portions not huge but perfect. Nice vibe.
Great restaurant, food was excellent
We went for our honey moon and had the most amazing experience. The service was above and beyond expectations. The food was once in a lifetime. I would recommend to anyone. I couldn’t say enough great things about our experience. The price is worth every dime. You will NOT be disappointed!!!
Delicious! Can't wait to return to Asheville so we can visit Chiesa again.
I've been trying to eat here for several months. I wasn't disappointed.
I would recommend with an honest assessment. It is an ok restaurant but the price is just a little high for the overall quality.
This is the first time eating at Chiesa where the pasta was overcooked. I have eaten here quite a few times before and not had this issue. It is typically perfect but the angel hair was overdone this time.
As usual we felt warmly welcomed to Chiesa. Our waiter was charming but forgot to tell us about the specials until specifically asked. The special we ordered, by the way, was delicious and seasonal with pork, fall vegetables, and merlot butter. We also loved the pasta and sauces. One of our party needed to eat grain-free and was very happy with the zucchini noodles as an alternative to pasta.
You can always tell a great Italian restaurant by its sauce and the sauce here is excellent! Ravioli were amazing and so was the eggplant parmigiana. Wish I lived in Asheville so I could go back often!
Outstanding as always!
Chiesa is a real gem! The food was delicious and the service could not have been better. This small Italian restaurant boasts a creative and delicious menu with servers who are friendly and attentive in just the right way. Treat yourself to a lovely evening
My wife is Italian and even she was impressed with the food at Chiesa. Great service and food all around. Our food was out in less than 10 minutes on a Saturday night which really impressed me. Everything tasted very fresh and homemade. :)
Truly amazing food. Friendly and professional service. Highly recommend. The red snapper special was one of my favorite dishes ever.
Outstanding food and cozy ambience. We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and had a wonderful time. The service is impeccable, and the food is top notch. Our waiter was very helpful with the menu and made great recommendations. Everything we ate was spectacular, and it was a nice touch that dessert was on the house for our anniversary. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Italian meal at reasonable prices.
Chiesa exceeding all of my expectations. I searched for restaurants in the Asheville area for an upcoming getaway for my boyfriend and me. Chiesa was a front runner in that search right away. The photos of Chiesa looked charming and romantic and the food looked fantastic. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Italian, so I knew I had to book us a reservation here! Our reservation was at 7pm on a Friday night--the weather was miserable, yet cozy (chilly, rainy fall evening). The outside lighting around the restaurant was beautiful, parking was easy to find on a side street and we were seated right away. I ordered the Aperol Spritz and my boyfriend had a locally brewed IPA (I forgot the details). We started with the mussels-----DELICIOUS! For entrees: we had the build your own pasta option--I had the Basil Pesto Angel Hair with Chicken and he had the Marinara with Angel Hair and a meatball. Everything was fantastic. We also had two glasses of wine (Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo) and the tiramisu for dessert. Our server was kind, personable, and spot on with everything. He offered tastes of wine multiple times and eventually brought two of us to taste. All other employees were kind and attentive too. Great atmosphere---one wall near the serving station had a cork design that was really cool! I would definitely come back! THANK YOU CHIESA!
Chiesa does not disappoint. Consistently delicious with welcoming, warm service. Looking forward to our next visit! Thanks Newton!
After all the positive reviews I was so looking forward to a great Italian dinner with our party. Unfortunately our experience did not live up to the reviews. First we arrived and were seated promptly but then waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged by a server. Finally someone came by to tell us our server was really busy and brought us some bread. Our server showed up to take our order. I ordered the stuffed meatballs appetizer which was pretty good. Others in our party had salads. I ordered the Eggplant Parm which consisted of three little slices of eggplant which didn’t seem to be breaded at all. It was just covered in cheese and red sauce. My wife ordered the Chicken Marsala which she claimed was the worst she ever ate. I tasted it and can agree. Very odd taste. Others in our party found their food to be mediocre at best.
What a find! We go to Asheville on occasion and decided to try a restaurant that we had never experienced. And, WOW, we selected a WINNER! The small size, ambience, and history of the establishment was refreshing. We started our meal with their Eggplant Napoliitano...perfect in every way - beautifully, stacked, lightly fried eggplant disc surrounded by a pesto sauce & tomato coulis with precise dollops of ricotta cheese! For entrees, both of us were ecstatic. My partner had the Chicken Marsala. She said their home-made pasta was top-flight and the Marsala excellent. While hard to resist a few menu items, I could not say no to the Friday night seafood special - a snapper so well cooked with the most beautifully fried skin served over their home-made gnocchi and veggies, surrounded by 2 sauces that were heavenly. I maintain that this dish is my All-time Top 5 favorite dishes. Dessert - an ample, moist, delectable, home-made blueberry bread pudding with ice cream was more than a plenty for 2. The service from start to finish was "a 10." Our server, Misty, was top notch - knowledgeable, professional and attentive at just the right times. The chef and entire staff impressed us ever so much. We are looking forward to our next trip to Asheville and to once again experience Chiesa.
Awesome place, food. Owner came by and checked on how the meal was. Very cool experience.
Food was excellent! Service great! Will certainly be back.
Misty was great! So was the wine!
The food was good, especially the appetizers (we had the brocollini and the beet salad). The beet salad was more of a salad with beets on top instead of a salad made up of beets which was what we were expecting. The pasta was fine, the pesto sauce was really good. The chicken in my chicken Marsala was dry. We sat at the bar and the bartender talked loudly with the other guests at the bar the whole time. The overall atmosphere was just ok. We should have found another restaurant to dine at when we saw that only bar seats were available. But we’ve enjoyed ourselves eating at bars in the past. This bar was just particularly small, right on the path to the kitchen, and not very private. Overall Chiesa was fine but overhyped and not worth the price in my opinion.
Chiesa is a great neighborhood restaurant. Very busy, so would definitely recommend reservations. Upon visiting an Italian restaurant, we often order the red sauce and were not disappointed. And the pasta's homemade.
Favorite restaurant in Asheville! Wonderful atmosphere - in an old Church building. The outside patio seating is wonderful in the summer. The food and service are always excellent. Pasta dishes are outstanding - favorites are spinach ravioli, scallops, and sausage with penne! Everything here is delicious.
We went to Chiesa for our anniversary and arrived to find a congratulatory note to us on the specials board. Nice touch. Food and service were great, as always. One of our favorite Asheville restaurants.
