Italian
Chiesa (Italian for church) is a quaint Italian restaurant featuring generations of family recipes, housemade pasta, and local ingredients. Located in the historic Montford neighborhood, Chiesa (pronounced kee-ay-sa) is housed in a building that has been at the center of the community for over one hundred years, serving as the local grocery store, then as a church, and since 2014, the neighborhood Italian restaurant. Our friendly staff welcomes all guests as family, providing a warm and comfortable atmosphere for both inside and patio dining (when weather permits).

Went to Chiesa for 2 year anniversary dinner and they made it very special. Service was excellent and everyone was very kind. My Chicken Marsala was flavored amazingly, although I was a little disappointed with my chicken breast (flavor not size). Dessert was incredible (and they insisted on it being free due to our anniversary). We split some kind of lemon/creme filled/ strawberry glaze/deliciousness and enjoyed every bite.

Love what they are doing here and will be back to see them when in town again.

Attentive service, lovely outdoor patio, mussels were good although two small pieces of bread were not enough to soak up the broth, the carbonara was fine but seemed more like Mac and cheese and not enough depth of flavor, which is what one of my companions said about their basil pasta, needed more flavor. Overall was good dining experience.

Going back tonight. A fave for us.
The dish I ordered was a carbonara that was a bit too thick and dry. But, tasty regardless.
Service and friendliness is always excellent.
Bringing friends tonight and often recommend.

Been here many times as a local resident. Brought visiting friends there this time. Service was friendly as always but slow and glitchy. Pre-dinner drinks arrived after multiple reminders just a few minutes before the entree. A glass of ice took 10 minutes. The take-home dessert was misplaced. On and on... Maybe because the owner wasn't in the house?

A favorite local place - this time we sat at the bar which now allows reservations and is MUCH better for a date than a regular table as the interior is quite loud. Amazing service as usual. Tuna carpaccio and scallops to start our meal did not disappoint . I’ve had just about everything in the menu and it’s always amazing . The red gravy with meat is so authentic and tasty! Love this place and the Limoncello spritzer is the best cocktail on the menu

A delightful restaurant - out of the downtown area but close to it. Great food with an inventive menu. We sat at the bat and were very entertained by the bartender Brian. Loved the vegetable terrine appetizer as well as our pasta entrees. Wound definitely make this a regular spot to eat if we lived in Asheville!

This was our first visit to Chiesa; we will be back. Our meal was wonderful and everything was very flavorful, from the appetizers to dessert. Our waiter did a fantastic job of answering questions about the menu and wines and was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and the owner, manager and our waiter all made a point to stop by the table to wish us a happy anniversary. They made our evening very special. I highly recommend Chiesa!

It was our first visit after moving to Asheville 3 weeks ago from Virginia. The restaurant is very cute and the service and food is outstanding. The staff made us feel very welcome with an unusual amount of attention that we are not used to. We were blown away when Newton the manager sat down and personally welcomed us.
We are getting used to how friendly Asheville folk are but Chiesa goes above and beyond. The food was delicious and we will definitely return. Thank you, Chiesa!

Our dinner at Chiesa was an AMAZING experience. The food was fantastic, & Brian, our server, could not have been better. There's something for everyone at Chiesa - from a beautiful local steak, to multiple vegan dishes that were out of this world. We look forward to having dinner there again soon.
p.s. Don't skip out on dessert!

Four of us, including two visiting friends, were at Chiesa on a Friday evening at 8:30. At first, we were sat in the front of the restaurant, but that area was noisy due to a large party at the long high top table. We asked to move to a quieter table in the back where we could talk, and we were promptly moved. We had a reservation, and appreciated that consideration. Would have been hard to hear each other otherwise.

Food, wine & service were great as always. We love bringing visiting friends & family to this restaurant, and also enjoy it on a date night. The seared scallops & homemade ravioli are always excellent! Highly recommended!

Warm welcome and immediate seating matching our reservation. Charming, attentive, knowledgeable waiter...on the spot but not intrusive.
Excellent special scallops appetizer, two different pasta entrees, delicious chocolate dessert...and an introduction to a new, delightful Sauvignon Blanc—Hunky Dory.
All in all, an outstanding dining experience...and an opportunity to speak with the owner to offer our thanks!

Wonderful ambience and excellent service. The mussels with gorgonzola were outstanding. Service is exemplary! Only reason for 4 vs. 5 stars is the price point is just a tad high. That said, a wonderful restaurant!!!

Wow, Wow, Wow! We were a little worried as friends told us the restaurant had been sold (not sure that is true). Anyway not to worry...we had been here many times before and had good experiences, but this time was fantastic.

I had the caprese salad with fresh burrata and cherry tomatoes. It was great. Some of the best burrata I have ever had. That proceeded the scallops with pea risotto which was even better. My wife and son had equally great meals.

We have been to a lot of great restaurants in Asheville, but this might have topped them all!

We just brought another set of friends to Chiesa and not surprising, they enjoyed it as much as we always do. The menu is not huge, and neither is the venue, but therein lies the charm. The pasta is homemade, it’s one of the few restaurants we’ve been to that carries Dalwhinnie scotch (if you’re a scotch lover, this is a good thing), the wine list is good, and we have never had a bad meal. I love the orecchiette carbonara and my husband often goes for the scallops or sausage and peppers. Best to make reservations. Dress code is “smart casual.” You’ll have a lovely evening out.
