We ate outside in the courtyard and it was very pleasant. The Chicken Marsala was just fabulous. One of the best meals we have had in Asheville. Can’t wait to go back. Everything was very fresh and delicious.
Brian bartender was great! Friendly, knowledgeable & truly added to the dining experience-food is excellent!!
Great food and all family recipes. Excellent ambiance, great service. In an old house which is very cool.
What a wonderful experience we had at Chiesa! Superb food and outstanding service. We will be back!
We've been fans for years, and it just keeps getting better. Chiesa has a great setting in the Montford neighborhood just a stone's throw from downtown Asheville. The environment is comforting and lively, the service is awesome and the food can't be beat. Owner Newton Clark is the epitome of a food-centric, guest-focused and gracious host. You'll see Newton doing a variety of things from delivering fragrant dishes to sitting down and chatting with guests asking for input and suggestions.
Visiting Asheville from Ireland and brought my wife along to chiesa as a birthday treat from the moment we walked in the door till we left the service was outstanding and the food was amazing. Would 100% recommend. A nice friendly neighborhood little gem.
Having read positive reviews, we chose this restaurant for our 47th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! In the historic Monforte neighborhood, it has a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Our entrees were excellent and the bread pudding desert out of this world. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Try it!
Great meal! Really delicious. Drunk VERY loud folks near us made conversation difficult. Manager apologized without us saying anything about them. She said they are aware that noise is an issue and are discussing possible solutions. Had it not been for those folks, the evening would have been 5 stars.
Outstanding. Fresh ingredients, wonderful specials and a good wine list. Will certainly recommend.
Very nice variety on the menu with a nice price point for a meal. The service was top tier along with the quality of the food. One of my new favorites in Asheville.
Great food great service great atmosphere great experience
Everything about this place is great! We both had pasta dishes and they were fantastic!! I wish I lived closer so I could go more often!
Our meal was, as always at Chiesa, excellent. We began by splitting a beet salad, which was delicious. For a main course, I had the duck breast special (amazing) and my wife had the chicken Marsala (also excellent). For dessert, we split a serving of blueberry bread pudding with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream. The perfect end to a great meal.
Quality of food has gone downhill since we ate there 6 months ago
We’ve eaten at Chiesa several times and never come away dissatisfied. Each time we order something different and are always delighted with our meals. It’s just that good. Chiesa can hold its own with the good meals we’ve enjoyed on our 3 trips to Italy. We will look forward to our next Chiesa experience!
As always, the food was perfect. Patrick, our waiter gets extra points, for helpfulness, knowledge, as well as having a great personality. I say, give him a raise.
As usual- food was excellent, drinks waiter and regular waiter both helpful and friendly. Service was unusually slow. Food took 30+ minutes to arrive. Warm, lively ambiance. We had Caesar salad, red pepper terrine, tuna, ravioli with red gravy.
Absolutely incredible. Laura was an excellent server and knew all details of the menu. The warm spiced olives were the perfect start to our dinner. The red pepper terrine salad was a pleasant surprise of tastes. And, how could you go wrong with the homemade spinach ravioli. Will definitely return on our next visit to Asheville.
we enjoyed our dinner very much. and our waitress, laura, did an excellent job. we will be back for dinner in august when back in town.
Hidden gem in Asheville. I have been here a dozen times or more and never had a bad meal.
Five of us had a very desirable dinner. One of our guests was a vegan and was able to choose food he liked. The scallops and blue berry bread pudding were our favorites.
This was such a great experience for us- the food is stellar. Everything we had was excellent. We were impressed with the chicken marsala and the duck special. The service was great, very attentive. The atmosphere is charming in the old church.
Third visit to Chiesa, delicious yet again! Already have a reservation for our visit next month!
The homemade pasta was incredible
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience at Chiesa this past weekend. We were staying at a local B my husband had the duck special and I had fresh angel hair with pesto sauce and meatball, to the homemade ice cream for dessert, it was amazing. Thank you Newton & Mateo!
Amazing food and service. Matteo was an excellent server. House-made pasta, fresh and al dente, the way it's supposed to be, paired with sweet sausage, and a glass of Chianti...Heaven!
The food and service was outstanding. I had the house made fettuccine with roasted beet and balsamic pesto and shrimp. The meal was delicious and our entire party enjoyed their meals. The only complaint was that the noise level was very high. It was hard to hear the waitress and I am not hard of hearing. The owner, Newton, said that they would be adding sound barriers very soon.
We liked the ambiance of Chiesa. Parking was a challenge because there was no lot associated with the restaurant. We ordered pasta dishes. With homemade fettuccini. I loved the sauce, but found the pasta a little thicker than expected. Despite this, we would recommend it to friends and definitely go back.
Always enjoy a meal at Chiesa....excellent quality, value and service. The outdoor patio seating is divine for this time of the year.
Kudos to the owner and the fine service staff. Matteo was excellent!!!
We will return...often!
Wonderful!! Simply wonderful....the food was amazing, wait staff knowledgeable and helpful, the service exceptional. We are already planning our return visit!!
The waitress stunk of body odor. When serving tables next to us, she squeezed between tables and I had to eat with her butt in my face. to make matters worse, she was chatty and I had her butt in my face for almost the entire meal. Very disappointing
Gorgeous and delicious! Plus everyone was so nice.
Food was ok. In all fairness, Italian food is tough to differentiate. I had eggplant with angel hair pasta. Pasta was nice and fresh. Just nothing that made any kind of a wow factor over other Italian restaurants or even going to my local pasta store (pasta and provisions in charlotte) and picking up fresh pasta and some sauce.
For less than $20 for pasta, it wasnt a bad value. Menu needs a differentiator. Some really good veal or something. A cauliflower steak isnt it. But then again, it is Asheville
Absolutely perfect. The food was seasoned beautifully, presented well, and every element on the plate was given a lot of thought and care. We were full to bursting, but wished we had room to try more. Can't wait to go back again!
I always reccomend Chiesa. It is one of my favorite places in town . I think the secret is finally out. The menu is great. My picky 10yr loves it. Desserts could use a revamp but the spumoni is fantastic. The owner is very nice. Service was flawless as usual
We sat near the long table and the group at that table were rather loud, so it was hard to hear ourselves talk.
High-quality food. Best Italian I have had in a long time.
Great food at a great price! Excellent service and ultra friendly staff! It's nice to find a place off the beaten path.
This was a great place to spend our date night celebrating our engagement. The food was incredible and the was knowledgeable about the menu and providing selections and accommodations. The owner so graciously gifted us our first round of drinks on the house because we were celebrating our recent engagement. Y’all need to go pay a visit to this literal place of food worship. We will be back!
