This is a great spot for lunch! You can get the lunch special for $10 which includes a drink, entree + two sides. Delicious food for a great price with wonderful service!
We now know why we haven’t been back to The Chicken & The Egg in years. It’s not a pleasant experience on many levels. We had a 1:45pm brunch reservation and ultimately just grabbed a seat at the bar at 2:20pm after that long of a wait for a reservation. (The hostess was not in a good mood and had no answers for us on being seated.) So fine- just glad to get a couple seats at the bar. Then the bar area we sat was sticky so after waiting a few minutes I pulled out a wipe from my purse to clean it and neither bartender got the hint from that. The guy next to us even asked to borrow the wipe since his space had not been cleaned earthier. We still and we had to ask for them to clean it. No apologies, no smile. In fact, as little acknowledgment as possible. Ordered drinks (they were ok) and had to get the bartenders attention to order the appetizer. They seemed like were just trying to get through their shift. Ordered 2 types of Benedict and both asked for crispy/well-done bacon. It came before we even could finish our appetizer. And the bacon was barely cooked. The food was not flavorful or plated well. For the price of that food we could be gone to a lot nicer restaurants for brunch. We agreed the experience was best described as “meh” and will not be going back to The Chicken & The Egg.
Food was well prepared, staff was friendly and attentive, but not intrusive.
Would recommend and go back myself.
Uneven service but great food!
We went for brunch on a Sunday. We were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the crab and crawfish omelette which was very tasty. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely everything was fantastic! Chicken &a French Toast, as well as Meatloaf, were delicious. My favorites were the Alabama Christmas cocktail and the divine pot-de-crème!
Waitress was aloof
I should have been advised tbat Easter was Brunch only all day.
Great Service. Food good. I would like to see more non breakfast items on the menu for Sunday Brunch.
Great experience, server was wonderful and food was fantastic
Celebrated Easter with Brunch. We were seated at the time of our reservation. Service was quick and as we had a child with us - they made his meal a priority. Food did not take long to be served and was visually appealing and most important tasted great. All the extras we requested were served promptly (hot sauce, butter, jelly, etc.). We will definitely be back.
We went for Easter brunch and everything came out so quick and not hot enough that I think they pre made dishes for the crowd. Usually we never have a problem but won’t be back for a holiday meal.
Great Easter brunch! We were promptly seated and our server quickly came to get our drink order. The food was delicious! We shared the biscuits (light and fluffy) and gravy to start, and I got the FGT eggs Benedict and it was great! My server kept my coffee full the whole time, we love coming here!
I have had plans to eat here for awhile and had the perfect opportunity organizing a pre-Easter brunch with family. We were seated almost immediately and had a great table. It was busy so I’m glad we had a reservation. The menu was very good! Not too extensive an overwhelming but at the same time it was diverse. My son was happy that they had cheeseburgers, meanwhile, I really enjoyed their seafood omelette! I wish I could say our service met the calibur of experience that we had already experienced! Our server was extremely nice (or order was correct as well), but perhaps just a little rushed and overly hurried. My brother ordered a side dish and it did not come until almost 15 minutes after we received our food - with very little explanation or offer to comp it. Again though, she was very nice. It was an overall really good experience and I will be going again!
We were impress with the decor and the ambience. Our waitress , Heather, was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the food. She recommended the meatloaf, chicken and waffle and the braised beef short rib, which was out of this world. The drinks were good, The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. One negative though, two of us ordered the chicken and waffle, the poultry was underdooked and had to be returned. Heather was understanding and we were credited the amount for those two orders. I will definitely go back to Chicken and The Egg, to sample the chicken and waffle plate properly!
I thought this was a great little place to eat. The food was good and the prices were even better. There were quite a few delicious looking things on the menu so I will definitely be going back for the next few Sunday brunches to try them.
Server was overwhelmed during Brunch hours which effected what usually is excellence service.
Wonderful place for brunch when you have family or friends visiting from out of town.
Haven't been in quite some time but we looked at the menu and saw some new dishes so we decided to go- ordered the Chicken and Waffles and chicken tenders- chicken tenders(small portion) came out without cole slaw and had to ask for it- sat on cushion bench that has been sat on by so many people as I sank in due to poor condition of cushions-was hoping for much more- our server was 3 days into position but he did the best he could- Cider I ordered was not chilled- I could go on-
Fantastic food coupled with great service - how can you go wrong?
We were in town to see the ballet and wanted a different place for the family to dine near the Cobb Energy Performing arts center. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately turned off by a smell that covered the first half of the restaurant. Having experience with building maintenance, I quickly determined that the smell was from the floors being mopped with dirty mop water. This is simply due from not changing mop water out frequently enough while cleaning. Yes, you need to teach "millenials" how to properly mop too. Forturnately, our table was on the other side of the restaurant so the smell was not noticeble.
The food was just "ok" with the entrees being priced $3-$4 more than what I would expect to pay for the quality. The menu had a decent variety enough trying to be truly "Southern" with a flair, but nothing really popped out and made me really want to try it. Looking to order something different and pleasing to the palate, I was rather disappointed and settled on the shrimp and grits. My dish was just "OK;" not bad but far from exceptional. Each of the four of us ordered different dishes, and these too were just "OK."
Being coffee lovers and anticipating a late evening, we ordered coffee after we finished with our dinner. We were yet again disappointed. The coffee came out not very hot, so I asked for another cup. The second cup was just the same. The coffee temperature was just over warm, and I could tell that the pot was not freshly brewed. My second cup was from the same pot as the first. When you add cream or half and half to coffee and it doesn't really change the color of the coffee that much, you can tell that the coffee has been brewed awhile. We were not billed The service was very good, and our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Would I dine here again or recommend this restaurant? No, considering the many other restaurants available in the area.
First time there, will be back. Nice atmosphere, great service and excellent food.
Great weekday dinner specials. Our favorite dish is the beef short rib- so good with the grits or mashed potatoes.
The food is amazing and you can't beat $2.50 mimosas on Sundays! Unfortunately, the terrible service is consistently a problem. I've made reservations each time I've gone and still have had to wait at least 15 minutes to be seated. The host staff said that reservations only put you slightly ahead of walk-ins. Bar seating isn't any better as there is one bartender and one bar back trying to do all the mimosas and drinks for the entire restaurant as well as wait on 15-20 people sitting at the bar. There is one older waitress (in the restaurant, not the bar) in particular that is horribly slow, forgetful, and spends more time apologizing than actually doing the basics of waiting on her patrons. Each time I've gone, I've heard multiple parties complain to the manager regarding the reservation issues as well as that one particular waitress. Overall, I still go back because the food is so delicious (get the chicken and french toast!) but the service from hosting to serving is some of the worst I've seen. Just go early and be prepared to spend at least 45+ minutes waiting on seating, drinks, and food.
First time visit for Sunday brunch and we'll definitely be back. Very urban space- nice to find in the burbs. Had an eggs benedict that was delicious and you can't beat the $2.50 cocktails. Service was great- attentive, but not rushed- just right. Highly recommend.
The food was great and my wife loves the mimosas. We've been a couple times now and we had an awesome experience both visits.
Always great food. Love the decor. Wish you could order a Bloody Mary at Sunday brunch at 11:30 though. Server was ok but could have been better.
Brunch at Chicken and the Egg has got to be one of the best in town. Everything we have tried has been phenomenal. It’s a little noisy, but that’s just the ambiance of the restaurant as more of a “farmhouse style” dining experience. It’s quickly become one of our favorites for Sunday Brunch.
Just a little send-off brunch with my daughter before she went back to college. We always enjoy the food and atmosphere! (I love the $2.50 mimosas...)
Saturday brunch was AMAZING! Frances was the best server. I had brunch with a girlfriend and we both agreed that we must bring our husbands back!!!
Good service and menu. Creative appetizers. Frequent for brunch but this was the first time for dinner and enjoyed it.
I love the weekend brunches the best but is good for anytime. I go at least 2 times a month. Try it and you will like it!
Awesome food and great mango mimosas. Very nice atmosphere and great for group get togethers.
This marked my third ( and probably last) time at this restaurant for brunch and the first for my friend who drove 30 miles on my recommendation for a “good brunch”. The food was very good, however the service and the support of the customer by the manager was not.
At first we thought that Karen was simply attentive. Then, it crossed over into feeling like she was rushing us. For a place that allows for reservations I shouldn’t feel like I am at Waffle House with people tapping their foot to get me out. We were there a total of an hour and 20 minutes and that’s from start to finishing up by speaking with the manager.
Here’s what this restaurant’s idea of good service is:
1. Interrupt a table conversation many times you come by to “see if we need anything” “else”
2. Roll your eyes not once, but TWO different times, when patrons request for additional coffee or cream after you offer
3. After picking up the check, you make your presence known and possibly your displeasure at a 15% tip by snatching the sweetener bowl off of the table and then coming back yet again to slam it down on the table. This Exchange was the only one that she never said a word. Body language said it for her.
4. Smell obviously like cigarettes when you are working in food service.
After we paid, we asked another server for the manager. We didn’t have any issues with the food and didn’t want anything but support & an apology. The manager’s response with the same cigarette breath as Karen, to the above issues?
“Oh. We are slow today and I think she was just checking in a lot because of that. And can I get y’all anything or ...?”
You have had two customers tell you that your server rolled her eyes at them...someone old enough to know better- not a surly teenager. We’ve just given your establishment 45-50 dollars for food we could make at home, and this is the response?
This could’ve been an “off” day but I won’t be recommending it anytime soon after seeing the leadership in action.
We got there right when they opened for brunch and had a wonderful meal. Our server Karen was so sweet, especially with our two little kids. Food was delicious and interesting, and came out very fast.
Our table was ready when we arrived. The staff was nice and welcoming and all of our meals were good. I especially enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the chicken and waffles and meatloaf were very good.
I felt the drink & entree was a little pricey, for what you get.
The service is consistently awful. The food is high quality and prepared well. We have eaten here multiple times and 4 out of 5 times the service has been terrible. Why do we go back??? Because of the food quality and limited decent restaurants near my MIL. But this was the last time.
